Review of Flat TV

Flat TV (2014–2016)
9/10
Innovative Sitcom
5 August 2016
Series 1 of Flat TV was fantastic. Well-written, well-acted, well-executed. Conceptually, the idea of the sitcom is innovative. Though based around a classic sitcom situation (2 flatmates, the girl next door to impress, etc.), a fourth-wall-breaking TV self-parody unlike that seen before pushes it to another level. The spoofs and impressions were very decent, and there is so much more potential to be explored with the Flat TV format, with a wealth of TV or film genres that have yet to be touched. A greater level of character development/relationship building is needed to push it to a 10 in my books, but for a first series of a sitcom, it had a good range of characters, a high gag density and something unique it is bringing to the table.
