Miles Ahead (2015)
7/10
If your going to tell a story, tell it with some attitude, don't be corny about it!

Never was a statement so true from the mouth of Don Cheadle as Miles Davis in this masterpiece, Miles Ahead.

It's a movie that is a visual persona of what Miles Davis was accomplishing with his music. Miles Ahead lives up to it's name.

For the first few minutes I was a little disappointed because I was expecting more of a biopic about the Jazz legend. Instead it focuses on Miles Davis attempts to protect his music form those who can't wait to see what he has produced after a five year hiatus and exploit it. It also flashbacks to a time of Davis' relationship with his wife.

I loved Cheadle's interpretation of Davis, it was everything I expected the icon to be and I love Ewan McGregor's supporting role as a journalist trying to do a story on Miles only to get caught up in his troubles.

Miles Ahead is not very straight forward, but it is a great music biopic, that goes more over the art he creates rather than the man's life. It captures Davis at a time when he seem burned out and was looking for another creative spark to bring him back.

As great as the movie was from a visual standpoint, looking like it came straight from the seventies in both cinematography and art direction, the music was really good (as it should be). Don Cheadle did a lot of the composing himself which was really cool.

It was not was I was looking for but turned out to be everything I wanted. Thank you Don Cheadle for being, Miles Ahead.
