The haunting "Dawn" looks at a teenage girl living in a sheltered household in the 1950s and hoping to break out of this squeaky clean existence.
It's worth noting that this is anything but a nostalgia piece. There are some unpleasant scenes. One might interpret the movie as questioning the image of the nuclear family. McGowan shows herself to be a competent director with this movie.
