Action Jackson (I) (2014)
5/10
Had potential, but it remains untapped!

Warning: Spoilers
'Action Jackson' Directed by Prabhudheva has all the tapping's of a regular Bollywood Masala film, that has action, comedy, romance & even some emotion. But despite some true potential in its story, it seems the writer & director haven't tapped its power to the fullest.

'Action Jackson' Synopsis: Two lookalikes clash each other & decide to swap, in order to terminate their cruel enemies.

'Action Jackson' is over-the-top from the word go. The romantic-track involving an unlucky women (Sonakshi Sinha in hammy mode) falling for the hero (Ajay Devgn) because her Luck Changes after she spots him naked, is offensive. And watching violent goons beating an innocent women (Yami Gautam, as Twin Ajay's spouse) is disturbing. Such sequences, definitely could've been avoided.

But, the action in 'Action Jackson' is awesome. It's the fist-pumping, ass-kicking bits between the hero & the baddies, that leave a mark. The choreography of the action bits, indeed stands out.

How one wishes if the Writing Material was as strong. While the first-hour is crowded with songs & a prolonged romantic-track, the second-hour shifts between gory flashbacks & a loud climax. There are moments of fun here, but they are few & far between.

Prabhudheva's Direction is suitably loud & energetic. Cinematography & Editing are fair. Music by Himesh Reshammiya is catchy.

In terms of performances, Ajay, with an amazing physique, is sincere in dual roles. He excels, particularly, in the action-sequences. Yami Gautam, also, is very earnest. Kunal Roy Kapur is wasted in a comedic role. Debutant Manasvi Mamgai is impressive as the vamp.

On the whole, 'Action Jackson' is a good opportunity gone wrong.
