It's not the greatest thriller you've ever seen, but it never set out to be that. This is supposed to be fun to watch and Elijah proves he is a fan of Horror once again, even though this is more a Thriller than Horror. We never quite know why things are happening until towards the end there is a reveal, which is nice.
It doesn't make too much sense, why our bad guy is going about it like he does, even though he does discuss it in the movie itself (a bit meta I guess). Still that shouldn't spoil the fun or the tension the movie creates. I never played the piano, so I have no idea how real and professional the piano playing looks to people who have experience.
