I never write reviews for anything...

Warning: Spoilers
... but I couldn't keep my thoughts about this movie to myself. It was the most fun I've had watching a movie in the theater in quite a long time. If you made this movie black and white and aired it on TCM, it would fit right in, and I think we need more movies like that nowadays. Firth was terrific. Stone was gorgeous. Both looked like they belonged in the golden era of cinema.

That being said, there were 3 things that bothered me if I had to nitpick:

1- Sophie's mother is given very little to do. I would have liked to see a scene in which she tells her daughter off for falling in love with Stanley because it could ruin their plans.

2- There are 2 throwaway jokes about Sophie liking to eat a little too much, and yet it's never mentioned again. Plus, it's hard to believe she's such a foodie considering how skinny Emma Stone is.

3- There was too little spent on showing Stanley and Sophie interacting together while her fiancé was gone.

Other than that, I found the movie to be old-fashioned, sweet perfection.
