I think the show is marketed the wrong way. From the synopsis, you would think it is about a undercover cop seeking revenge. This actually turn some people off because they think it is very cliché. Ask me how I know.
I thought the same thing too and was very unwilling to watch. I did not changed my mind after watching the pilot but it the pace was entertaining enough and I quite like Newton so I continue to watch. By episode 3 onwards, i was hooked and even more so. By episode 7 and 8, I really loved it. The show have enough twist and turn and very good acting. The finale tied up 90% of the loose ends and solved the mystery. I hate shows that leaves up with a big cliffhanger even worse if there is no subsequent season. So you can watch this knowing that the mystery will be solved and you can have closure.I am looking forward to season 2 but even if its not renewed, I did not wasted the 10 hours I spent on season 1.
Beside Newton,I loved the Matthew Beard who play MAX. Ian Tracy who played Lucas Mitch is also great. He also acting in Bates Motel and Continuum but I think he is best here !Marton Csokas who played Jimmy and Joshua Sasse are also good for their roles.
