If you're going into this expecting a great Coppola movie, you'll at least as disappointed as another reviewer has stated. Though if you get through the first 20 minutes of the movie it does get a bit better. Especially the scene between Elle and Val Kilmer is really good. Then again the scene does get elevated just due to the fact, that the acting before that is mediocre at best.
You might find yourself wondering how the director made such great movies from time to time, when you watch this. It's like he lost the gift (the greatest part of it anyways). Same goes for Kilmer more or less, but you should be used to him being not at the top of his game for quite some time now. In the end it's just a decent effort, that feels like a letdown when you look at the talent involved.
