It Just Plain Stinks

Warning: Spoilers
Based on its opening credits, which feature clips from various Roger Corman produced horror movies, Not of This Earth appears at first glance to be a sci-fi spoof with lots of throwbacks to classic fifties creature features. Despite the involvement of Roger Corman, however, there is little attempt to tap into this vein of comedy. All we get is a load of lame innuendos.

The film follows a nurse, played by Traci Lords, who works with a man who needs near constant blood transfusions. However, events quickly reveal that he is actually an alien vampire bent on conquering the world.

The film relies on lame innuendo for most of its humor. In particular, there is a lot of idiotic banter between Lords and the vampire's house servant. To add insult to injury, although a lot of porn stars have topless cameos, Lords has only a brief nude scene. Furthermore, Lords's character is not much of a protagonist, with most of the real action done by her cop boyfriend.

In two words, it stinks.
