This film is without a doubt the worst monster movie i have ever seen. I went into this with such high hopes. I was a HUGE fan of The Host and Chaw and so went into this expecting it to (at least) be a lot of fun.
How wrong was i....
First complaint: The rip off factor This movie takes ALL of its main plot points from Alien and (to a lesser extent) The Abyss. 1. Strong female lead fighting rampaging monster - Alien 2. Large monster remaining hidden throughout most of the film as it picks off the crew one by one - Alien 3. Monster has elongated tongue it uses to attack prey - Alien 4. Monster has extremely thick skin that is only vulnerable to fire - Alien 5. Oil rig is set for self destruct in the finale in an attempt to destroy monster - Alien
I could go on but honestly i don't need to. The CGI is awful and the monster design is so bad it i8s almost unwatchable. It looks like a giant killer BBQ spare rib. With legs. And Teeth.
The subtitles on the English version have a disgraceful translation too.
In summary, i have seen some absolute stinkers in my time, but this is one of the worst. Avoid this unless you intend to use it as a substitute for Chinese water torture.
