The fact that the soundtrack is diluted with other performers, too, plus, the song is in harmony with the plot. Especially worth mentioning Shantel VanSanten from One Tree Hill - she does a great job in the film and bypasses Mischa Barton of The OC. Anton Yelchin does a good job playing the slimy yet hilarious Edward.
