Haven't seen the original; this is genuinely hilarious at times. I'm gonna go look for the original now.

This is a short review.

Paul Rudd's performance is still the same from the "Role Models" and "I Love You, Man" days. I fear that he will be type-casted. However once Steve Carell enters the picture the movie suddenly accelerates into non- stop gags. Some jokes fall flat; many gave me lots of chuckles; and a few actually made me laugh 'till my throat went sore. This is a film which is proud of being a gag/slapstick/screwball comedy, and it pays off. There are some sexual jokes which may push the boundaries of its PG-13 rating but still manages to be funny.

Now I have to admit Carell's character is so annoying/stupid/insane that you just have to stop taking the film as a realistic comedy and just accept the absurdity that poor Rudd's character has to go through. The plot is predictable but merely used as a vehicle to get the gag ball rolling.

It's good to watch if you have nothing else to watch. I'll now look for the original French version, seeing that a lot of people said it's more hilarious.

A lot of people seem to hate this movie. It's a comedy, albeit an absurd one. See it for some laughs; the audience I went with was howling with laughter in the cinema hall.
