Worth a look
8 August 2009
This as not the heartwarming movie I expected it to be, but it was very sweet. It deals with family relationships and the secrets that families keep. Ryan Reynolds stoled the movie as usual. This was a movie of doing things wrong, overlooking things that should be dealt with and holding on to guilt the we don't own. The damage that we may have done to us in our childhood effects how we grow. At what point do we forgive and forget in our relationships? Do we realize how our actions can damage our children? Willem DeFoe and Julia Roberts portray the parents of Ryan Reynolds. Their parenting styles are very different and the relationship with one effects the interaction with the other. As the family comes back together for a graduation, there is an event that changes the family dynamic. I enjoyed watching it, but I was not emotionally effected by it as I thought I would be.
