Review of Lavender

Lavender (2000)
6/10
Takeshi Kaneshiro at his best
17 June 2009
This is a romantic fantasy and an escape I guess for most female audiences. Of all the possibilities, an angel comes into the life of an unhappy girl. Tell me if that isn't the greatest romantic fantasy. It's not realistic, but for almost 2 hours you will be transported to their world, and this is one of the greatest movie of its genre.

Takeshi Kaneshiro is just gorgeous in this movie. Kelly Chen really reminded me of Brigitte (Chin Sha) Linn that she was compared to when she was standing in the grass field towards the end of the movie. The movie is essentially about them and other realities are not part of the make up. For instance, if an angel came to earth, wouldn't he be talking lot about God ? This angel had absolutely no interest in heavenly ideas, or cosmic scope that supposedly angels are supposed to help humans with. His interest from the get go was about her and being like a child.

As a fantasy, this is pretty good movie. As a romantic fantasy, one of the best. All the right cues are in there to stir the soul of ones looking for unlimited romance and love.

Movie was pretty good from the get go, but the last 20 minutes is fabulous. If you're looking for a romantic evening, definitely see this. If you're with your girlfriend, watch this movie with her. She would think how thoughtful of you.
