Obsessed (2009)
7/10
Unoriginal yes - Is it serious, no.

Warning: Spoilers
I honestly didn't have many high expectations for this movie. I've never really thought Beyonce was all that believable as an actress but I decided to see the movie because overall it looked like one of those Fatal Attraction/Swim Fan movies. I think the problem with people who go to see this movie is that they expect this to be Beyonce's break through movie. But until she chooses a role that has nothing do with music/singing, and a role that is original (and this includes a character with depth) she might never have a breakthrough movie. But still her acting improves..

The first 20 minutes of the movie, I cringed. Beyonce I thought was horrible at pretending to be a wife. You could tell she was uneasy with kissing, talking about sex under the mirror & etc (Weird since Idris is an incredibly handsome man). But as the movie continued she became more believable. She's not that great of an actress, but becoming believable was her first step something she failed at in her previous movies (excluding Dream Girls).

But overall the movie was good. The frustration that one gets from the constant interaction between Derek (Elba) who is sort of symbolizing a weak man, and psychopath Lisa (Larter) is what makes the movie even more enjoyable. People need to quit taking this movie so seriously. This is a movie where you can invite some friends over, bring out the popcorn and kickback. Who cares if its unoriginal and just a little predictable when it keeps you entertained the whole time.
