Torchwood (2006–2011)

Torchwood is good for the most part...give it a chance

I'm not the biggest fan of Chris Chinball (or whatever the hell his name is) but I do enjoy Torchwood. We get to witness this organization in it's infancy. Of course things are going to go wrong and the characters are going to screw up continually. It comes with the territory. I think it would be boring if they solved everything amazingly, like Dr. Who . It's much more interesting to see their initial stumbling and subsequent evolution into a functional unit.

I also happen to think the characters are very likable. Yes, even Owen. Especially Owen actually. They are all essentially good people with flaws, desires, and only a bit more understanding of alien life than the Average Joe. I love Dr. Who like no one can possibly imagine and I think its great that RTD and his crew are exploring what would happen if humans tried to do what he did. And the inevitable answer is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

With that said, can we please get Chinball to stop writing episodes? He isn't the best writer in the world. in fact most of his stuff, and especially the lines he has for jack, are pretty awful. I don't know what he's bribing you with RTD but it can't be so bad that you'll allow him to destroy a potentially good and innovative show, right.
