Review of Big Bad Wolf

Big Bad Wolf (2006)
5/10
Monster movie with merit...

Warning: Spoilers
What's not to love about a wise-cracking werewolf? Richard Tyson, doing his best Paul Naschy, is great as the title character (critter?). Sure, he likes doing it doggie-style- but what would you expect from such a... uh... bestial creature...? When it comes to low-budget fright films, there's tolerably bad (HELL HAS COME TO FROGTOWN) and then there's really, truly bad (SNAKES ON A PLANE)... BIG BAD WOLF, chiefly by virtue of its humor and the performances of its leads- not to mention its surprisingly solid strapped-for-cash film-making tricks of the trade-, ranks higher than most such no-budget fright fests. (Certainly Paul Naschy himself never appeared in anything anywhere near as good- at least, not that I've ever seen.) Like the cgi monsterpiece HOODWINKED, BIG BAD WOLF rates a look.
