Not brilliant, but doesn't suck either.

Fortunes have plummeted for this film recently - it is now in the bottom 100 and has lost nearly one star in the average user ratings. But I personally, to be brutally honest, didn't find this film too bad. Yes, it was awfully cheesy, yes, it is just a rip-off of Jaws, yes, nobody in it can act, but the reason I found this film all right is because none of it looked particularly awful. The shark attacks themselves are nothing Oscar-worthy, but they were quite bloody and intense for a B-movie, and this was certainly not something made with $10, a hand-held camera and a few mates of the director. This film is as cheesy as hell, and I wasn't overwhelmed by it, but it is fun to watch - "The Line" was awful, and I did laugh. This film definitely deserved a cinematic release - not only because more people would poke fun at it, but also because people need to know that sharks are no longer shocking, especially in this film. I didn't think it was terrible, in fact, it was rather enjoyable, but certainly not one that will be appreciated by film critics or lovers of brilliant films. "Okay" sums this up. 6/10
