Review of Vanished

Vanished (2006)
1/10
Horrible and Very Cliché
21 August 2006
Clichés, clichés, clichés . . . if I didn't know that this show was meant to be serious, I would think that it was a parody. Since it isn't a parody, it is just insulting. The acting and the script are quite wretched.

"Vanished" tries to lure viewers with the promise of suspense and plot twists, playing off the popularity of "24" and even "The Da Vinci Code," but there is not a single original character in the show. I will be incredibly surprised if this rip-off lasts beyond its probationary period.

This show is what ticks me off about Hollywood . . . they take good, fairly original ideas (e.g., "24," "Lost," and "Prison Break"), and force-feed viewers with the same thing over and over again, expecting consumers to eat it up with glee. What ever happened to the art of originality? Doesn't Hollywood have any shame?

Don't waste your time with "Vanished."
