It really hurts to review this film. Chris Reeve came back to the character one more time. He brought a noble enough idea; Superman helping the world to disarm. But in the end, this film lacked no creative punch.
The once ground breaking effects look outdated and mediocre at best. We once were made to believe a man could fly. Now it was old hat and nothing new or innovative was being done to take us beyond that.
Everyone, to include Reeve, seem to be in this film out of obligation more than any other reason. We have almost all of the original cast here, but it was time to let Superman fly off into the sunset rather than give us this soulless endeavor.
