Review of Windstruck

Windstruck (2004)
3/10
A huge disappointment

By any standard, this movie is really bad. Being a fan of My Sassy Girl, I really wanted to like it but I couldn't. It's so over-the-top with melodrama that it could be a satire. Nothing makes any sense whatsoever. I don't even know where to start. Suffice it to say, there's not even an ounce of credibility in the whole movie.

Worst of all, the movie is painfully long. This movie could have been under ninety minutes and bearable, but at over two hours, it's absolutely excruciating. Jeon Ji-hyun is fine but can't do much with the maudlin material she's given. She's basically just crying the whole second half of the movie. Jang Hyuk isn't that good and just looks kind of goofy, which was okay for Volcano High with his spiky blond hair, but doesn't really work when he's the romantic lead of this movie. There's zero chemistry between them.

Overall, this movie is a real disappointment. The final ending is just absurd and reminded me of a movie that was way, way better than the one we just saw.
