5/10
Hopefully the last Friday
11 March 2004
I liked the last two Fridays, but neither of them are "comic gems," so I'm not going to give the whole speech about how this movie is a disgrace to the franchise. Obviously, Ice Cube is no Mel Brooks, so you can't expect loads of sharply written gags. I didn't dread this film and got a few laughs, but most of the gags were too cheap and mean-spirited for my taste. All I have to say is at least there were no jokes involving crude racial stereotypes--though the Moly character may offend some Middle Eastern folks. As for Mike Epps, I would be much happier if he were banned from movies altogether. I think of him as a black Pauly Shore. He seems to have almost no wit or intelligence, for that matter. He doesn't even make an honest effort to be funny, yet he seems to be gaining in popularity. At least with Pauly Shore, people don't give him the satisfaction of laughing at his so-called "jokes." The girl who plays Cube's love interest is drop-dead gorgeous, though I do feel sorry for the majority of the female characters in this film, since they're treated as such sex objects. I wouldn't blame women if they find this film offensive.

My score: 5 (out of 10)
