I just recently saw this movie at the Cleveland International Film Festival and I was really surprised. I was given an assignment for my high school film class to see one of the festival movies. I decided to see this film because it was playing on a weekend and with a name like Fishing With Gandhi how bad could it be. Going into the theater I was expecting to see some extremely low budget film that would but funny, not laugh out loud funny but more subtle humor. I could not have been more wrong. The look of the film seems like it could have been a bigger production because it is mainly just people talking so it didn't require that big of a budget. It was also one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. All of the jokes were original and funny enough to get the whole theater rolling in their seats. One drawback to it was that people were laughing so hard I missed a lot of the jokes. After not expecting much I got my money worth and then some. I would highly recommend this film to anyone in need of some humor and I would imagine that it will start showing up in some bigger festivals across the country because it sold out in Cleveland with no hype from local media and it seemed that most people really enjoyed it.
