In the wake of last year’s World Premiere at FrightFest 2023, single take thriller Failure! has been acquired for North American distribution by Red Water Entertainment, Variety reports.
“The film will be released in the first quarter of 2025,” the report notes.
Director Alex Kahuam‘s psychological thriller is presented in three acts…
Shot in one unbroken 87-minute take, Failure! follows James who has a big debt with the bank and is given one hour to choose between financial ruin or murder in order to protect his family. As the hour progresses he finds his home and phone invaded by multiple characters pulling him in different directions, gradually adding to his distress and his unravelling. But who is real and who isn’t?
The film also stars Merrick McCartha (Senior Year), Melissa Diaz (Ruthless), John Paul Medrano (Seven Days) and Daniel Kuhlman (Voodoo MacBeth) and Noel Douglas Orput.
Kahuam and Raimi produced Failure!

A couple days ago, Vertical announced that they will be giving the horror film The Exorcism (formerly known as The Georgetown Project), which stars Russell Crowe, a North American theatrical release on June 7th, with the streaming rights going to Shudder. Now the Motion Picture Association ratings board has revealed that they have given The Exorcism an R rating – and we’ve learned that the film’s trailer will be dropping online tomorrow!
The Exorcism has been rated R for language, some violent content, sexual references and brief drug use. This isn’t the first time the movie has been given an R rating, as it was previously given an R for the exact same reasons last June, when it was still going by the title The Georgetown Project.

Russell Crowe recently played real-life exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth in the supernatural horror film The Pope’s Exorcist, which could turn out to be a franchise starter… but before Crowe made that movie, he made a different supernatural thriller that deals with exorcism. Four and a half years have gone by since it was announced that Crowe had signed on to star in a film that was then known as The Georgetown Project, with Joshua John Miller directing. Now retitled The Exorcism, that film has been acquired by Vertical for a North American theatrical release that’s scheduled for June 7th. The streaming rights are in the hands of Shudder.

HeBGB TV was among my favorite films I saw at Salem Horror Fest earlier this year, so I’m delighted that the frenetic horror-comedy anthology has made its way to Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting’s streaming service Screambox in time for Halloween.
In my review, I called it “a high-camp blend of the wistful glow of Wnuf Halloween Special, the uninhibited hyperactivity of Rick and Morty‘s “Interdimensional Cable” episodes, and the absurd unpredictability of Adult Swim’s Too Many Cooks.”
What I didn’t mention was all nods to genre favorites peppered throughout the film.
Here are 17 horror references in HeBGB TV.
1. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
HeBGB TV’s opening credits are inspired by the Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers title sequence, which perfectly captures the autumnal atmosphere.
2. Creature from the Black Lagoon
The boy in the opening scene is playing with a Creature from the Black Lagoon figure.

The Creepshow 2 episode of The Black Sheep was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Brandon Nally, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Its hard for a sequel to be better than the original – no, hey! Don’t close the article and please hold all hate in the comments until the end. I’m not saying Creepshow 2 (watch it Here) is better than the first movie, that’s just silly. Ok, so it’s hard for sequels to eclipse their previous iteration. Godfather II is always the answer to that but there are other things that you can prefer. Some people prefer the breakneck action of Aliens to the slasher in space of Alien. Others may enjoy Friday the 13th Part 2 with its higher violence (although it does have the same body count) and introduction to Jason to part 1’s mommy revenge story.

A meeting of two great masters of horror, Creepshow blends George A. Romero’s macabre brand of satire with Stephen King’s darkly moral vision of the world. The anthology film doesn’t blossom out from the nihilism that marks Romero and King’s more famous works, but from audience-friendly parody and their shared love of the infamous publisher EC Comics, one of the earliest targets and casualties of the Comics Code Authority. Comic-book aesthetics dominate the film, from vivid splashes of color to animated effects like frames divided into panels and page-flip transitions between segments. With Creepshow, Romero and King stepped far enough outside their creative comfort zones to find fruitful common ground in the film’s five stories, and without one artist’s personality outweighing the other’s.
Creepshow’s five stories are linked by a through line of sardonic moralism, a sense of reckoning redolent of Flannery O’Connor’s anti-fables.

Failure!’, follows business tycoon James, a loving family man who has a crushing bank debt which he must resolve within an hour or lose his business. Greedy associates, back-stabbing friends and even ghosts from his past, all force him to choose between financial ruin... or murder. We were pleased when director Alex Kahuam asked us to start spreading the word about his one take black comedy thriller, Failure! last June. Has it really been a year since then? The hell? Back then the film was in its final weeks of post production and a work in progress was screened at Cannes. It was generating a lot of interest from festivals at the time so...

Although far from the first horror anthology, Creepshow quickly established itself as the quintessential one. After several stalled attempts to work together, George A. Romero and Stephen King — two undisputed masters in their respective fields, each in their prime — finally collaborated in 1982. With both creators having grown up on EC horror comics of the 1950s like Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, and The Haunt of Fear, it made sense that an homage to those works would bring the two titans of terror together.
Creepshow packs five tales (three originals and two adapted from existing King short stories) plus a wraparound that bookends the film in two hours flat. The Halloween-set framing story finds a disparaging father lambasting his son for reading horror comics before throwing away the latest issue of Creepshow. Beckoned by the silent host known as The Creep, the tales within the discarded comic serve as the anthology’s segments.

AMC Networks has acquired the rights to John Maxim’s popular Bannerman spy book series for development as a potential television series. The project hails from Shane Black, Greg Nicotero via his overall deal with AMC Networks, and Brian Witten. Jeffrey Maxim is also attached as a consulting producer. This Walking Dead article contains spoilers.
If there’s anyone who knows what The Walking Dead needs, its series producer and zombie effects expert Greg Nicotero.
Aside from perhaps series creator Robert Kirkman himself, no one else is as responsible for the series’ iconic undead look than the makeup effects enthusiast-turned-director. Nicotero dates his Walking Dead journey all the way back to before the beginning when original showrunner Frank Darabont brought him aboard before the pilot was even sold. And he’ll see it through beyond the end, directing the show’s series finale before moving on to produce several spinoffs.
Suffice it to say, Nicotero’s Walking Dead opinion matters. And during a new interview with Aaron Sagers on Den of Geek‘s paranormal pop culture Talking Strange podcast, Nicotero revealed his opinion that there was really only one way for AMC’s flagship zombie series to conclude.

The Stephen King-inspired anthology series Creepshow has been granted a second season by horror streamer Shudder. While great to hear, this isn’t too surprising, as the show’s been a solid performer for the network, wrapping its first season on Halloween. Overseen by The Walking Dead‘s Greg Nicotero, Creepshow‘s commitment to old-school special effects have made it a treat for Shudder subscribers, with Deadline reporting that roughly half of the platform’s audience have seen at least one episode.
The original George A. Romero-directed Creepshow movie was a labor of love for Romero and King, and while later sequels offered diminishing returns (Creepshow 3 is particularly worth avoiding), its success set up a wave of horror anthologies in the 1980s and 1990s.
Commenting on the impact Creepshow has had on Shudder, the service’s Gm Craig Engler had this to say:

Whether Phil Fleischman’s family finds the peace it’s looking for on the other side of the river doesn’t really matter at this point because the episode’s final shot of mother, father, and child walking toward what they hope will be an opportunity to start over lets viewers know that the opportunity to regain a piece of their lost humanity may be within reach. “Miles and Miles” features the television directorial debut of Van Helsing stunt coordinator Kimani Ray Smith and nicely breaks things down into two distinct arenas – the rugged journey through the Badlands and the ultimate confrontation between the Fleischmans and Max Borman.

Joe Hill discusses what it means to be around for Creepshow's beginning and its streaming present.
“Sometimes life really is like a novel where things come full circle," acclaimed horror novelist Joe Hill says in an exclusive new clip about Shudder's Creepshow.
Joe Hill would certainly know about life's circles more than most. As the young son of Stephen King, he was welcomed on set of 1982's horror classic Creepshow and eventually found his way onscreen to portray the frame story's young hero Billy. Now, some 40 years later, Hill is once again involved with Creepshow, this time as a writer.

Van Helsing Season 4 Episode 5
“I don’t kill hope before it’s dead.”
There have been numerous twists and turns in the Van Helsing, post-Rising apocalyptic saga, and while some clearly foreshadow later events, others appear quite unexpectedly. “Liberty or Death” takes us deep into Blak Tek’s sordid past revealing an even more sinister underbelly than previously depicted through its apparent military-industrial complex cover story. And as the army of darkness marshals its forces for the inevitable clash with Vanessa, we have to wonder whether Hansen has any idea what he and the others are up against. Of course, the same could be said of Vanessa.

Van Helsing Season 4 Episode 4
Let’s be clear from the start. “Broken Promises” is a great episode. Vanessa’s stunning transformation and later reconciliation with Axel may highlight this chapter, but it’s the increased employment of mysterious psychic connections that really drives Van Helsing into fascinating unexplored territories. From the beginning of her journey, Vanessa’s role as the potential savior of mankind has been at the center of the tale, but now, even that expectation has morphed into something far greater.
Though it seems contrary to everything we’ve learned about Vanessa during her post-Rising odyssey, the lone surviving Van Helsing seems to finally embrace this new messiah status that correlates with her decision to save rather than kill. At first it appears...

Which is Better is a new column here on Nerdly where we’ll pick two related movies and discuss each of them, and then conclude which we think is the best one. It might be about sequels in comparison to the first film, or the original film and its eventual remake, we might even do it for full film franchises. It could be about TV shows or movies that have similar themes or stories. It will be a way to talk about which, in my view, is the better. This time, I’ll be pitting two horror anthologies against each other… it’s Creepshow versus Trick ‘r Treat!

Axel’s back, and he’s made a new friend. Everybody’s got an agenda, and “Love Less” draws the triangle of Vanessa, Blak Tek, and the Dark One just a little bit tighter.
Does any actor play moral ambiguity better than Richard Harmon (The 100; Continuum)? While it’s still too early to tell whether Max turns out to be the borderline sociopath we observe in his first few scenes, all indications point toward a man entirely comfortable profiting from the suffering of others. “I love this God damned apocalypse,...

Here in Los Angeles, Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights is always a highlight of the haunt season, and for 2019, John Murdy and his tireless team have pulled out all the stops. For this year’s fright-filled festivities, Hhn is delivering up nine brand new mazes, one additional scare zone maze, plus the permanent Walking Dead attraction as well, making 2019 their biggest year to date. There was no Terror Tram for attendees, but considering the amount of walking you have to do throughout the course of the night already (I logged 6.5 miles myself), I was glad that Murdy decided to give fans two additional dedicated mazes in its stead.
As usual, I always recommend those heading to Halloween Horror Nights to head straight down to the Lower Lot first, as those are the mazes that tend to fill up the fastest, and that was definitely the case for this year as well.

Golly gee, when was the last time there was a good horror show on TV? I guess The Terror probably counts (I’m assuming it’s scary due to its on-the-nose title). Otherwise, most reality TV is pretty terrifying. Zing! Got’em!
But I might also need to get Shudder soon, because they have a Creepshow series coming out. And ya know what? It looks like a lot of stylized, practical, spooky fun. Thank you, Comic-Con, for bringing us more gory good news, and showing us how much enjoyment we’ll get out of being scared by the upcoming anthology show.
In addition to being based off the films that featured horror titans Stephen King and George Romero, may his soul rest in peace, the cast looks to be stacked, too. We have splatter veterans Jeffrey Combs and Tobin Bell, and even Adrienne Barbeau. There’s also Giancarlo Esposito, Bruce Davison,...

One of the many reasons George A. Romero's Creepshow continues to thrill and chill horror fans more than 35 years after its initial release is thanks to the makeup effects by Tom Savini (who also played one of the movie's garbagemen in the memorable wraparound segment). It's fitting, then, that Savini has been announced as the director of one of the episodes of Shudder's new Creepshow series, based on a story by Joe Hill, who played Billy in the film's wraparound segment.
Savini will direct an episode adaptation of Joe Hill's "By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain," working from a screenplay by Jason Ciaramella.
Along with Savini's return to the Creepshow franchise, Shudder also announced a casting update for the series, revealing that David Arquette, Tricia Helfer, and Dana Gould have joined the cast. Read the official press release below for more information, and stay tuned to Daily Dead...
