Los Angeles, March 18 (Ians) Zendaya and Tom Holland visibly squashed rumours that they had split after they turned up, “all loved up”, for the BNP Paribas Open women’s final at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California, reports ‘Daily Mail’.
The rumours snowballed into a speculative tsunami in January after Zendaya had unfollowed Hollander on Instagram. It later turned out that Zendaya had done so with all the people she had been following.
Adding to the concern of fans, notes ‘Daily Mail’, was the fact that Zendaya and Hollander haven’t been photographed together since October 25, when they were snapped grocery shopping in Los Angeles.
The Emmy-winning actress, who plays a tennis coach in the upcoming film, ‘Challengers’, appeared in a tennis skirt and matching crop top at the tennis final, adds ‘Daily Mail’.
Seated in the stands, a polo-clad Tom cosied up to his girlfriend, and they shared a laugh.

Stefanos Tsitsipas always underlined the importance of popularizing tennis in Greece as his goal, as he wants to see it grow in the future.
Tsitsipas grew up loving tennis, but it's not something many of his countrymen share. The country is a sport-loving nation; however, that's mostly reserved for football or basketball, which are far more popular than tennis in Greece.
Even so, the sport is experiencing a growing popularity thanks to Tsitispas and Maria Sakkari, who have been among the best players in the world for a while now and showed it also at the 2024 United Cup, where the Greek player spoke about growing the sport in the country.
He's always spoken fondly about his country and wants to see the sport grow, underlining it as one of his dreams. To see it through, he's devised a plan to be executed in the coming years.

The first Grand Slam tournament of the 2024 season is on the horizon, and the entry list for the women's edition of the Australian Open has been released.
Running from January 14th to 28th, next year's Australian Open will have a historic Sunday start. One hundred twenty-eight women will compete in the biggest party of Australian summer, but only one player will be lucky enough to emerge from the fortnight with the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup.
The Australian Open is played on outdoor hard courts at its famed home - Melbourne Park. It's been ten years since there was a successful title defense in the women's tournament, so is that trend likely to continue, or will Belarus Aryna Sabalenka defend the crown she won 12 months ago?

Leylah Fernandez has withdrawn from next week's Adelaide International tournament, where she was a second alternate for a main draw berth.
The second Wta 500 event of the new season will begin on January 8th and run until January 13th, a day before Melbourne's first Grand Slam tournament 2024 kicks off.
Fernandez, who was part of Canada's team that finished at the bottom of their group at the United Cup, is one of several high-profile names that have pulled out from Adelaide and will instead head to Melbourne to play the Australian Open.
No reason has been given for her absence although it is unlikely to do with any injury concern, considering that she played in three matches at the mixed-gender team competition this week (two in singles and one in mixed doubles).
She won two matches at the tournament, both coming in the victory over Chile in singles and mixed doubles.

After saving his country from elimination with his win in singles, Alexander Zverev teamed up with Laura Siegemund to push his country into the semi-finals at the 2024 United Cup.
Friday at the United Cup is all about Alexander Zverev, who proved the hero of his country. The first match between the nations happened early this morning, with Maria Sakkari destroying Angelique Kerber in two simple sets.
That gave Stefanos Tsitsips a chance to seal it for his country but ultimately he couldn't find the tennis needed to down Zverev. A simple two-set win to set up this crucial doubles which featured Zverev but didn't feature Stefanos Tsitsipas.
His brother, Petros, teamed up with Maria Sakkari to play, and they wouldn't have enough. On the other side, we had an inspired Zverev, who did a lot of things right and Laura Siegemund, an experienced player who loves to play doubles.

Maria Sakkari had a lot of issues against Leylah Fernandez, but she prevailed in the end, securing Greece's spot in the 2024 United Cup quarter-finals.
After Stefanos Tsitsipas won his singles match, Maria Sakkari was in a position to secure her country's spot in the quarter-final. She needed to beat Leylah Fernandez to do so, and that's not an easy thing to do.
She found out herself when the Canadian started to blast winners left and right. Fernandez suddenly rose at the end of last year, and she's certainly carried over the confidence to this year.
It was a match she needed to win, and she played like it. An early 2-0 lead wasn't held, but she kept pushing and would get more chances in the coming games.
At 5-4, Fernandez had several break points, which were set points, however, she failed to use all of them. As we entered the tiebreak,...

Bianca Andreescu shared a list of uplifting and low moments from 2023 and asserted that it was a learning curve.
Andreescu rose to stardom following her groundbreaking success at the 2019 US Open when she became the first Canadian, male or female, to win a Grand Slam singles title. She has been ranked as high as World No. 4 - the peak of any Canadian player.
But sadly, her meteoric rise and instant success proved to be a flash in the pan, with injuries accounting largely for Andreescu's absence from the main tour. She has previously opened up about losing her love for the game amid mental health struggles.
After taking a six-month sabbatical between 2021 and 2022 in order to rediscover herself, Andreescu contemplated her long-term future in tennis and considered calling time on her playing career.
Although she returned to the courts with renewed vigor and new-found confidence, physical health struggles dictated the trajectory of her career.

Stefanos Tsitsipas skipped over his 2024 United Cup singles match just to play the mixed doubles, and he explained why after the match.
Tsitsipas was actually getting ready to play the singles match because event cameras caught him in the locker room working on getting ready. He didn't seem to be ready, though, so when he finally pulled out, nobody was really shocked by it.
He's dealt with a back injury dating back to last year, and it also affected him recently at the World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi. He was adamant that it's much better than before which might be true, but that doesn't mean it's 100%.
I'm much better than what I was a month ago. I wasn't 100% sure that I will have the chance to play the United Cup. It didn't really cross my mind when I was considering my comeback. I went through tough times at the end of the year.

Iga Swiatek's second stint as World No. 1 shows no signs of ending anytime soon as the Pole built a cushion over her closest challenger, Aryna Sabalenka.
After last year's US Open, Swiatek had relinquished the World No. 1 ranking to Sabalenka. But the Belarusian's reign lasted for just eight weeks before the 22-year-old Warsaw native bounced back spectacularly with title wins in Beijing and Cancun.
The victory over Sabalenka at the Wta Finals semifinal proved critical for Swiatek because she would demolish Jessica Pegula in the final to reclaim the No. 1 ranking. Swiatek pipped Sabalenka to the top by just 245 points in the year-end rankings.
But at the turn of the year, Swiatek added 210 points this week thanks to a new Wta rule of points allocation. Previously, a Wta player's ranking was determined by the results in a maximum of 16 tournaments and the Wta Finals if they qualified.

Stefanos Tsitsipas generally plays really well in Australia, and while he's yet to win a major, he's certain that it will come.
The Greek came very close to that at last year's Australian Open as he went to the final but couldn't overcome Novak Djokovic, who lifted his 10th Australian Open. It wasn't the first Grand Slam final Tsitsipas lost to Djokovic, but it was a significant match for him.
They were scenes he couldn't easily forget, standing there with the runner-up trophy while his opponent, as legendary as he is, was lifting his tenth. Not first, not second, not fifth, but tenth.
That certainly put things into perspective for Tsitsipas, and it's a loss he still thinks about. He doesn't think about it because he can't process it, no, that happened a long time ago.
He thinks about it to learn and prepare for the next time he's in that position.

January last year not only brought us a lot of tennis in Australia but also brought us the first season of Break Point, the Netflix tennis docu-series, which will air its second season in the coming weeks.
It was certainly an interesting watch for those who don't follow tennis as much, but as many pointed out, the first season of Break Point didn't show much of what die-hard tennis fans didn't know.
Sure, we saw how it looked from the inside, but it wasn't that revelatory. Despite all that, the series proved a success which is why it will be returning for a second season.
The first glimpse of the new season was posted by Netflix on social media, and it received some interesting responses. Fans were excited to see some newcomers such as Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune, who are the future of tennis.

Jessica Pegula was crowned as the new Jerry Diamond Aces Award recipient for her valuable contribution to promoting women's tennis.
The Aces Award was incepted in 1995 in memory of former Wta CEO Jerry Diamond and has been won by the likes of Angelique Kerber, Elina Svitolina, and, most recently, Maria Sakkari. World No. 5 Pegula has now etched her name on that list.
According to WTAtennis.com, "This award is given to a player who showed consistent professional conduct and willingness to promote women’s tennis to fans, media, and local communities by taking part in off-court promotional and charitable activities."

According to WTAtennis.com, "This award is given to a player who showed consistent professional conduct and willingness to promote women’s tennis to fans, media, and local communities by taking part in off-court promotional and charitable activities."

World No. 5 Jessica Pegula and the defending champion Ons Jabeur have signed up to play the 2024 Charleston Open in South Carolina.
The Charleston Open is synonymous with being the oldest all-women's tennis tournament in the United States, having been a staple on the Wta calendar since its inception in 1973 (except 2020 due to Covid-19), the same year the women's governing body was formed.
A host of the world's greatest tennis players on the Wta tour have played and won this tournament in the past, such as Chris Evert (eight-time champion), Martina Navratilova, Tracy Austin, Steffi Graf, Martina Hingis, and Serena Williams.
In 2022, the tournament commemorated its 50th year of staging the event at Daniel Island by unveiling its renovated Credit One Stadium, which offered significant upgrades in seating options and enhanced hospitality experiences.

Iga Swiatek is one of the biggest advocates for mental health in sports, having experience dealing with it herself.
Swiatek always looked destined for greatness, but getting there took a lot of work and introspection. We all remember her breaking down on a tennis court again and crying against Maria Sakkari in Guadalajara, which she had to overcome.
It would never be easy, but it had to be done, and she took the steps needed. She hired a sports psychologist and slowly tackled all those fears and doubts about herself that held her back.
After building herself up mentally, Swiatek quite literally took over the Wta Tour. She's the best player in the world right now (ranked 1st) and has been for almost two years now.
She's also become one of the most prominent mental health advocates on the tennis Tour, which she continues to do through speaking about it and various donations.

Maria Sakkari is one of the players competing on the Wta Tour working with a psychologist, and she recently talked about the experience.
Sakkari is a tremendously hard-working tennis player who spends hours and hours working on her game. She's super dedicated to it, so much so that many fans were heartbroken seeing her come up short, many times.
Until the Guadalajara Open this year, Sakkari only won one trophy in her career, which is pretty crazy considering how strong of a player she's been for a few years now. Mental toughness has been a problem for her as she couldn't show her best level in several big matches.
That changed this year when she finally won a big trophy in Mexico. She has a special bond with the country as the native fans adore her, and she loves playing there, so it was nice seeing her lift the Guadalajara Open trophy.

Carlos Alcaraz had a really great time in Mexico, and he has already promised to come back after the positive experience.
Exhibitions in Mexico have been a thing for a while, with Rafael Nadal taking on Casper Ruud last year. We also saw Nick Kyrgios play there and many others. Maria Sakkari is a player who played in Mexico at the Wta events and returned again for an exhibition.
This year, Carlos Alcaraz took on Tommy Paul in a fascinating match that the Spanish player won in two sets. It wasn't the only match, of course, because before that match, Caroline Wozniacki took on Maria Sakkai, who is probably one of the most popular tennis players in the country.
When it comes to Alcaraz, he admitted after the match that he's looking forward to coming back to the country.

Maria Sakkari has had a rollercoaster during her time in Mexico this season, but she signed off from her "second home" on a high note on Wednesday night.
The Greek star toppled former Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets in the first-ever women's singles match at the TennisFest Gnp exhibition in Mexico City. It was billed as a tennis celebration by the tournament and both players strived to delight the locals.
There are probably at least 10 different alternative places that tennis players would choose to be at this time of the year than on a tennis court. But the growing popularity of exhibition tournaments and their lucrative paychecks has lured players into an endless season.
Wozniacki sent shockwaves in the tennis world during the summer when she announced her decision to come back from retirement and play again. She played just three tournaments in North America including the...

Iga Swiatek is doing a lot of work in destigmatizing some aspects of human psychology as she's quite open with her introverted personality.
Swiatek has been a player who always openly spoke about mental health. It's essential to her as she wants to keep using her platform to destigmatize a topic that has been highly stigmatized throughout history, especially among athletes.
Times are changing, and that's good, but she keeps reinforcing the message, which is very important. As an introvert, being in the spotlight as much as she is requires an adjustment.
It's certainly not her most comfortable setting, but that's why she sought out help from people who could help. She's been open about working with a sports psychologist for a few years now, often talking about the importance of that.
She's become a more open person because of that and praised the efforts of her psychologist, Daria Abramowicz,...

Russia's precociously talented teenager Mirra Andreeva has been nominated for the 2023 Wta Newcomer of the Year award alongside four other breakout stars.
The five-player shortlist includes three teenagers, namely Andreeva, Linda Noskova, and Diana Shnaider. At 16, Andreeva is the youngest of the bunch. This award category aims to crown the player who made a Top 100 breakthrough during the season and punched well above her weight.
In the case of Andreeva, she certainly ticked all the boxes. Of all the Top 100 players, the 16-year-old made the biggest surge within a 12-month span, vaulting 359 spots to break the world's Top 50.
Having finished runner-up at the Australian Open girl's singles tournament, she commenced her professional career by winning two W60 Itf titles. Andreeva scored four Top 20 wins this season and her career highlight thus far came at Wimbledon where she reached the fourth round.
Second on the list is another Russian teenager, Diana Shnaider.

British No. 1 Katie Boulter leads the list of nominations for the Wta Most Improved Player of the Year award alongside four other players.
This distinction is bestowed upon a player ranked inside the Top 100 and who showed substantial improvement throughout the season. Improvement in this case is attributed to form, results, and ranking. Boulter has been honored in this category thanks to her best-ever season on tour.
The 27-year-old started the season playing on the Itf circuit and ranked World No. 136. She excelled at that level winning one title from three finals. It was during the grass swing when Boulter made the whole world take notice of her talent.
She won the Wta 250 in Nottingham - her first title at the Tour level - in the historic all-British final. That result gave Boulter the blueprint to break the world's Top 50 for the first time thanks to third-round finishes at Wimbledon and the US Open.

After 11 months of entertainment and intense competition, the 2023 Wta season came to an end this past week.
Iga Swiatek played second fiddle in the Wta Live Race in 43 of 44 weeks but sprinted to the finish line in the final lap ahead of Aryna Sabalenka who can count herself unfortunate not to hold onto the No. 1 ranking. Going to the Wta Finals, just 630 points separated the world's top two.
The math was very simple. If Swiatek defeated Sabalenka and won the Wta Finals she would reclaim the No. 1 ranking that she momentarily lost after the US Open. The Pole did just that, beating Sabalenka in a one-off semifinal in Cancun and demolishing Jessica Pegula in the title match.
Swiatek pipped Sabalenka to the top spot by just 245 points. The Belarusian will have to do it all over again in Australia at the start of next year where she will defend 2,500 points in January.

Carlos Alcaraz has a busy off-season schedule which includes stops in Latin America and the Middle East before he embarks on his trip to Australia for the 2024 season.
The Spaniard has been promoting the upcoming exhibition event in Mexico City where he is scheduled to face American Tommy Paul at the Plaza de Toros Monumental de México, the same venue that held Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud's multi-city tour of Latin America last year.
Tickets are now on sale on the tournament's website at the TennisFest Gnp. Alcaraz's popularity with Spanish-speaking Mexican tennis fans is guaranteed to fill up the world's largest bull ring, commonly known as La Plaza Mexico, which can hold up to 55,000 spectators in one sitting.
Last year marked the first edition of the TennisFest Gnp exhibition tournament where Nadal and Ruud played the first singles match of the event in front of 40,000 exuberant fans that were packed to the rafters.

Maria Sakkari believes 2023 has been one of her most challenging seasons so far, following inconsistent performances throughout the campaign.
Sakkari's 2023 season ended with a disappointing Wta Finals defeat to Jessica Pegula. The Greek player was comfortably beaten 6-3, 6-2 by Pegula in a match that lasted just over an hour, and it followed a loss against Elena Rybakina and a 6-0,6-1 defeat to Aryna Sabalenka .
Despite some patchy form in 2023, which led to just two victories at the four Grand Slams and an overall record of 38 wins and 25 defeats, Sakkari managed to finish in the Wta top 10 for a third consecutive season.
However, when reflecting on the past ten months after her defeat to Pegula, the 28-year-old said she had mixed feelings.

Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka played a crucial match at the Wta Finals on Thursday, but they'll finish on Friday because Mother Nature has gotten involved.
This is a very crucial match for the outlook of the Wta Finals because the winner will advance to the semi-finals. Rybakina bested Maria Sakkari while losing to Jessica Pegula . Sabalenka did the same, which means that this match is the one that will decide who will move on.
The opening set was won by Sabalenka, who lost to Rybakina not long ago at the China Open . The second was going much better for the Kazakhstani player, but the match was abandoned late in the second set at 5-3 for Rybakina because of the weather.

Jessica Pegula is through to the Wta Finals semi-final, but even so, the American wants to finish off the group stage with a win.
Facing Maria Sakkari is never easy, but American enters the matchup as a huge favourite simply because of how they both performed so far. Pegula impressed against Elena Rybakina in the first match and even more so against Aryna Sabalenka in the second match .
With Sakkari losing to both, Pegula is in the semi-final, but she certainly wants to finish off things with a win. It's rather likely because she's playing really well this week and has arguably looked the best out of all the players in Cancun.

The Belarusian star also met David Beckham's wife, Victoria, in a separate setting during a celebrity-filled opening night of the Casadonna restaurant in Miami a couple of weeks ago. Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula started off the Wta Finals with wins, so who will be the first to win two matches?
This is a very interesting matchup between two players who shined in the first round of the Wta Finals . Aryna Sabalenka demonstrated all of her power in a 6-0 6-1 beatdown of Maria Sakkari .
The world number one was amazing in that first match, but Jessica Pegula wasn't so bad in her first match. She took on Elena Rybakina and bested her comfortably in two sets to win the match.
Now, these two are playing against each other to try and secure a spot in the knockout stage of the event.
Head-to-head:
We've seen some good matches between these players in the past, though Sabalenka has mostly dominated. Five matches were played so far, and the Belarusian won four of those including the Wta Finals match last year.

Aryna Sabalenka put the Wta on blast after her Wta Finals match against Maria Sakkari, sharing her disappointment with the organization.
This has not been a very good year for the Wta leadership, as they were blasted multiple times by different players . Most of that criticism had to do with organizing stuff because whether it was schedules or events, it just seemed very chaotic.
The Wta Finals venue wasn't known for months, being only confirmed recently . The organization of the event itself has been a disaster so far, with the venue not being built before the players arrived.
They only got one practice on the match court before the event kicked off, and Sabalenka just had enough, and she's not the only one.
She blasted the Wta in the press conference and then also in a story on Instagram after the match, which she won in dominant fashion 6-0, 6-...

Aryna Sabalenka totally overpowered struggling Maria Sakkari to win her first match at the 2023 Wta Finals 6-0, 6-1.
The 2023 Wta Finals started with a solid match between Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina, which saw the American win . After that, the world no. 1 took on a player who ranked ninth in 2023 but still qualified for the tournament.
The reason is simple. Karolina Muchova was forced to withdraw from the tournament , and as a result, Sakkari replaced the Czech player in Cancun . However, her first match was certainly far from what she imagined.
Sabalenka is fighting for the world no. 1 spot in Cancun , and in her first match, she showed that she is all business in the Mexican city, ruthlessly destroying her opponent, and giving up only one game.
However, despite the scoreboard showing a dominant result, many times, the match wasn't so dominant. In the opening set, Sakkari troubled her opponent...

Jessica Pegula started her campaign at the year-end Wta competition with an impressive win over Elena Rybakina .
The 2023 Wta Finals have been in the spotlight for some time already, but not because of good reasons. The stadium, at which the event is held, was unfinished when players arrived in Cancun , and they were not happy about it.
Elena Rybakina was one of the players that wasn't happy and also talked about the situation, but seemingly, all players realized that all they can do is adapt to the situation and try their best.
Ahead of the tournament, Pegula was advised to stop playing it safe by American great Martina Navratilova, but early in the opening match of the 2023 Wta Finals, it seemed that she did not listen.
Of course, both players had to get used to the conditions in Cancun, but Rybakina seemingly adapted better, when she managed to break her...

Wta 's world number one Aryna Sabalenka kicks off her 2023 Wta Finals with a match against Maria Sakkari , so what might happen here?
Maria Sakkari wasn't even supposed to play at the Wta Finals, but the withdrawal of Karolina Muchova sealed her spot at the event. The Greek player was in Forth Worth last year, so it's not like she's undeserving, and she also has a really good track record in Mexico, having won the Guadalajara Open recently.
Sabalenka has played pretty well all year long, and many expected her to be one of the likelier players to do well at the event. We haven't seen her much in Mexico, but considering her consistency this year, it's unlikely that she'll be anything but good here.
Head-to-head:
The H2H between them is pretty fascinating, as they played nine matches so far. Sabalenka leads 6-3, having won both matches this year.

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka has fired the first warning shot to Coco Gauff and she wants a rematch of their US Open final bout that was won by the American.
Gauff came from a set down to beat the Belarusian and win her first Grand Slam . She became the youngest American teenager to win the US Open since Serena Williams over 20 years ago. The result culminated in mesmeric rise into the world's Top 3 for the 19-year-old who put together a near-perfect summer on home soil.
While the limelight shone on Gauff in that final, Sabalenka didn't have a pleasant experience, losing her first Grand Slam final. The two players have not crossed paths since that match, and have avoided each other in the group phase of this year's Wta Finals following Friday's draw.
Sabalenka, playing in the season finale for a third year in a row, drew Gauff's compatriot and doubles partner Jessica Pegula,...

Elena Rybakina used her practice session to expose the turbulent weather conditions in Cancun as she prepared for her debut appearance at the Wta Finals.
Rybakina held a practice session on Friday in one of the hotel courts which are being used as makeshift practice courts for the players because the tournament couldn't meet Thursday's deadline of completing the construction of the main stadium court for the Wta Finals .
Coincidentally, it was on an unpleasantly windy day when Rybakina chose to practice and was visibly struggling with her ball toss and serve. The 24-year-old was unimpressed with the weather conditions and took a sarcastic dig at the tournament by sharing a post on Instagram.
"Great conditions for practice."
Rybakina wrote on her Instagram story, inserting laughing emojis

The draw for the 2023 Wta Finals has been released, in which the race for the No. 1 ranking will be determined.
Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek will contest one last sprint to the finish line in Cancun, but there is a trophy to win and a whopping $3,024,000 in prize money for the undefeated champion .
Sabalenka and Swiatek learned before the draw ceremony that they wouldn't be paired in the same group because they were drawn from the same pots . But the draw is set to rekindle some exciting rematches.
The Wta Finals usually begin in the round-robin phase, where two groups of four players will vie to finish in the top two. The top finishers in each group will face the second-placed players in the other group in the semifinal (knockout phase).
Bacalar Group
The first group will see a redux of the Australian Open final. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka will...

World No. 2 Iga Swiatek has a higher winning rate this season than the rest of the world's Top 8 in the Wta Race ahead of the 2023 Wta Finals .
In addition, Swiatek has a better aggregate head-to-head record against the same club, which could give her a psychological edge in the tournament that will kick off on Sunday, October 29. Swiatek has never won the prestigious season finale, but this is a very good chance to break that barren run.
The Pole was named the 2022 Wta Player of the Year after an outstanding season saw her clinch two of the four Grand Slams along with many other big trophies at the Wta 1000 level. While her 2023 season doesn't quite stack up in terms of trophies, her output has been excellent.
Testament to this, Swiatek has won the most matches on tour this year, with 60 from 70 matches. That translates to a tour-leading 85.7% win rate. Only...
