Over two years after Netflix’s “Tiger King” took streaming by storm — and just a few months after Peacock’s own fictional series about Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic premiered — Peacock is bringing a new story of cats and crime to the docuseries space. The first trailer for “Dangerous Breed: Crime. Cons. Cats,” a new true docuseries about wrestler Teddy Hart, was released by the streamer on Wednesday.
Canadian nonfiction filmmaker Frederick Kroetsch, whose previous works include series like “Queen of the Oil Patch” and films like “Last of the Fur Traders,” directs the series, which focuses on the 10 years he spent filming Edward Ellsworth Annis, a wrestler on the independent circuit known by the ring name Teddy Hart.
A controversial figure known for his legal problems and his side gig as a Persian cat breeder, Hart was seen by Kroetsch as the perfect subject for a new reality show.

On the evening of February 8th, 1980, 20-year-old sex worker Karen Marsden was sobbing in a police car. Sex for sale, satanic cults, addiction and a streak of brutal murders of young women too gruesome to fathom are all brought to light in a four-part docuseries “Fall River” from Blumhouse Television and premiering May 16 on Epix.
Almost 90 years after Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her stepmother 40 whacks in Fall River, Massachusetts, another macabre killing spree hit the quaint, historic New England city. It began on Oct. 13, 1979, when the naked body of Doreen Levesque, a homeless 17-year-old girl, was found under the high school bleachers. She was tied up with fishing wire, her head and face were crushed with a rock and, as private investigator Chris Hayes put it, “This girl had a baseball bat shoved inside of her.”

Fall River, a four-part docuseries running on Epix, is structured like a rollercoaster. Every episode cranks up the suspense, building to a conclusion, and then drops the viewer into an emotional freefall. Almost 90 years after Lizzie Borden was acquitted of murder, Fall River, Massachusetts, hosted a second trial of the century. But this one was more like the witch hunts held in Salem, just over an hour’s drive away. Three women were killed in 1979, and the police and media blamed a devilish sect. The cult leader, a pimp named Carl Drew, declared himself Satan, and held his flock in scared awe by exacting human sacrifice at demonic rituals in the woods.

HBO Max has ordered a documentary about the late actor Brittany Murphy. The two-part series hails from Blumhouse Television and Pyramid Productions.
The documentary will explore the life and death of Murphy, who was best known for the film “Clueless” and whose other credits included “8 Mile,” “Just Married” and the Fox animated comedy series “King of the Hill.” She died in 2009 at the age of 32. Though her death was ruled an accident and determined to be the result of a combination of pneumonia and the effects of several over-the-counter drugs she had taken, the death one year later of her husband has fueled speculation about her passing.

Twenty years after the trial, the lead investigator Paul Carey became so haunted by inconsistencies in the stories that he re-investigated his own case after he retired. Evidence surfaced that brought the entire story into question. Now through exclusive interviews, including intimate conversations with Drew, new witnesses and illuminating evidence,...
