Despite Kevin Feigeʼs tireless efforts to keep the cogs of the megalomaniacal Marvel universe running, some of the products like the star-studded Eternals come out a bit worse for the wear and bear the brunt of the fans who remain dejected with the performance of the Phase Four era.
The quality of projects originating in the post-Endgame saga of the MCU have performed categorically worse in the recent past. Regardless, not many original projects coming out of that Phase have received the sequel treatment.

Moreover, the studioʼs stagnating state of work neither shows improvement nor the desire to achieve it, making it difficult to accept Marvelʼs decision regarding a Phase Four film sequel.

Filmmaker/Photographer Aleksandra Kingo’s debut short film An Ode To Procrastination is a fun and playful look at the art of doing nothing. The film explores procrastination in all its forms, opening up the conversation around fundamental fears that every artist has experienced at one point or another. On a visual level, Kingo’s background in photography and commercial filmmaking comes through in the whimsical cinematography, diorama-like production design and soft colour palette. It’s a film Dn was delighted by when we first saw it at Conero Film + Adv last year and are now excited to present to audiences through its online premiere. You can also learn more about the making of An Ode to Procrastination through our conversation with Kingo below where she delves into working with trusted collaborators, her exacting approach to set design, and the process of using her phone to shoot an entire rehearsal prior to production.

Recently, it was reported that Marvel Studios is allegedly scrapping three sequels and one of them is Eternals 2, along with Ant-Man, and Captain Marvel sequels. The reason was cited that Disney does not want to take risks and focus on sure shot hits.
2021’s Eternals failed to resonate with MCU fans
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios boss, and Disney CEO Bob Iger think pole apart when it comes to Eternals 2. While Feige wanted to make an Eternals sequel, Iger seemed to be certain that it would be a guaranteed flop. So they won’t move forward.

The MCU has now become arguably the most successful franchise in Hollywood history. While it had humble beginnings, they slowly became huge box office earners with many different individual movies and epic crossovers. However, after a dream run with the Infinity Saga, the franchise has been struggling for the past 2-3 years.
2021’s Eternals was not appreciated by MCU fans
Fans expecting great things after the franchise high of Avengers: Endgame were disappointed with most of the MCU projects in Phase 4. 2021’s Eternals became one of the lowest-grossing MCU films in a long time. However, one MCU film from Phase 1 grossed less than Eternals and still spawned sequels, but the circumstances were different.

In a review, Rolling Stone warned moviegoers that the 2021 Marvel movie Eternals “will bore you to death.” Moviegoers were somewhat kinder, giving the picture a solid C+, or 77 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and they spent close to $165 million domestically to see it, according to The Numbers. But the stigma of being associated with one of the meh-est Marvel movies weighed heavily on one of its stars, Kumail Nanjiani, who entered therapy when critics turned on it.

The 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe film “Eternals,” directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, was among the first in that series to meet predominantly negative reviews. It currently ranks at 47% on Rotten Tomatoes and 52 on Metacritic. And one of its stars, “Big Sick” co-writer and Oscar nominee Kumail Nanjiani, took that criticism to heart.
“The reviews were bad, and I was too aware of it,” he said on a recent episode of the podcast “Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum.”
“I was reading every review and checking too much,” Nanjiani added, confessing that when the press tour for the film concluded, he ended up on a therapist’s couch.
“It was really, really hard because Marvel thought that movie was going to be really, really well-reviewed,” he explained. “They lifted the embargo early and put it in some fancy movie festivals and they sent us on a big global tour to promote the...

Actor Kumail Nanjiani has been reflecting on the bad press Marvel’s Eternals got, and how he had to seek therapy to cope.
Kumail Nanjiani was part of the rather large ensemble cast of Marvel’s Eternals. The film was directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao and Marvel had high hopes for it; Marvel chief Kevin Feige, for example, was reportedly in awe of Zhao’s style of filmmaking and in theory, Eternals would have pushed Marvel from mass entertainment to… mass entertainment with a “From Oscar winning director” in its trailer.
However, Eternals was received pretty poorly. The film holds a 47 percent critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, with much criticism aimed at the convoluted story and bloated runtime. Audiences didn’t really connect with the film either; Eternals grossed just over $400 million at the global box office, but it had a price tag of $272.6 million.

Kumail Nanjiani went to therapy after the bad reviews for 'Eternals'.The 45-year-old actor played the part of Kingo in the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster but explained that promoting a film that did not impress audiences took such a toll on his mental health that he sought help from a counsellor.Kumail told 'Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum': "The reviews were bad, and I was too aware of it."It was really, really hard because Marvel thought that movie was going to be really, really well reviewed, so they lifted the embargo early and put it in some fancy movie festivals and they sent us on a big global tour to promote the movie right as the embargo lifted."Kumail questioned if the criticism of the film was related to the "actual quality" of the picture and thinks the reaction was "unfair" for both him and his wife Emily V.

Upon its debut, ‘Eternals’ signaled a shift in the MCU’s direction. Despite the film facing mixed reviews and box office challenges, it was often praised for its ambition, though criticized for introducing elements that weren’t further explored. While some viewers found it refreshing, blending cosmic and mythological themes, others felt it fell short. Despite the uncertainties, there are rumors from a reliable source, Daniel Richtman, suggesting that an ‘Eternals’ sequel is in the early stages of development.

Upon its release, ‘Eternals’ marked the change of direction in the MCU, and despite the movie receiving mixed reviews and bombing at the box office, it was often described as ambitious and sometimes incoherent due to many elements introduced, which were subsequently never used again.
Some viewers considered the movie a breath of fresh air and appreciated the themes that mixed cosmic themes with mythologies, but some felt that the movie didn’t quite hit the mark. Still, it seems that ‘Eternals’ was ambitious enough to warrant itself a sequel. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but a source of reliable scoops and leaks, Daniel Richtman, claimed that the sequel to the movie is in early development.

With 32 films and over 20 TV shows so far, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most expansive (and successful) franchises ever conceived. But when you have so many stories and characters crossing paths throughout an interconnected series of movies and shows, there are bound to be some timeline mistakes, especially when some of these productions involve time traveling and parallel universes. However, several years before Marvel Studios even introduced the concept of the multiverse to the MCU, they made quite the timeline blunder in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," the first solo feature outing for Tom Holland as the new webslinger after his debut in "Captain America: Civil War."
The opening of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" takes place in the aftermath of the Battle of New York from "The Avengers," which took place in 2012, the same year the movie was released. In this flashback sequence, Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton in a terrific performance) has...

Loki season two continues to drop Easter eggs left, right, and center, but in its second episode the show happily climbs aboard Marvel’s “running gag” bandwagon by throwing in a visual reference to one of the MCU’s most divisive movies: Eternals.

Loki and Mobius hit the darkened streets of the Sacred Timeline in episode two of Marvel’s Loki, as they attempt to track down Sylvie by tracing the movements of a Tva deserter.

Fans weren't happy at the news of Kumail Nanjiani being recast in the newest Adventure Time spin-off, Fionna and Cake, but it appears it wasn't a choice he made willingly.
Before being cast as the Wish Master, Prismo, in 2012, Nanjiani was a relatively unknown comedian. However, he slowly began to garner fame over the years, with his role as Dinesh Chugtai in HBO's Silicon Valley in 2014, in the romantic comedy The Big Sick, and finally a lead in Eternals as Kingo.
The last time Nanjiani voiced the Cosmic Entity was in the video game Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion in 2018, so while it's been years since he voiced the character, fans were still shocked to learn of his recasting.

Having transformed his body to play superhero Kingo in Marvel's "Eternals," then reinventing himself for Hulu's "Welcome To Chippendales" series, Kumail Nanjiani has truly ascended to star status. Since his 2017 autobiographical rom-com "The Big Sick" became a hit, Nanjiani has proven himself a versatile actor, capable of much more than the stereotypical roles he was previously offered. Now, having become Marvel's first South Asian superhero and having consistently subverted Hollywood stereotypes, Nanjiani has come a long way.

In 2021, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" brought back the paranormal comedy franchise with a whole new perspective. Director Jason Reitman took over the reins from his filmmaker father Ivan Reitman (rest in peace), and he gave fans a legacy-quel that focused on Mckenna Grace and Finn Wolfhard as the grandchildren of Egon Spengler as they learned about the legacy of their grandfather and the history of the original Ghostbusters team. But this time, all the spooky action unfolded in a desolate Oklahoma town in the middle of nowhere.
Despite the passing of Harold Ramis, "Afterlife" brought back a computer generated spirit version of Egon alongside Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson as Peter Venkman, Ray Stantz, and Winston Zeddemore. The new generation of Ghostbusters met the old guard, and they joined forces to defeat yet another reincarnation of Gozer the Gozerian. But that was just the beginning.

The new generation of Ghostbusters met the old guard, and they joined forces to defeat yet another reincarnation of Gozer the Gozerian. But that was just the beginning.

Spoiler Warning: Do not read this story until you’ve seen Marvel Studios’ “Eternals,” currently playing in theaters worldwide. Major spoilers are ahead.
The day after the red carpet premiere of Marvel Studios “Eternals,” director Chloé Zhao looked relaxed, almost serene, as she sat in a hotel suite awaiting her next interview. Her face lit up when she was asked about how her film features the first genuine sex scene in a Marvel Studios movie, and she happily talked at length about how she slipped in mentions of DC Comics icons Superman and Batman.
But when questions about the film’s two post-credits scenes came up, Zhao’s eyes nervously darted to her publicist sitting nearby.
“I will try my best — I’ve been advised…” she said, before trailing off.
Zhao’s trepidation is understandable. The news that Harry Styles appears in one of the post-credits scenes as Thanos’ brother Eros,...

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for both “Eternals” and its post-credits scenes.]
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has never shied away from tossing major narrative bombs into its films after they’ve — quite literally — ended, but Chloé Zhao’s “Eternals” offers a few more twists to the formula. Not only does the Oscar winner’s first Marvel feature conclude with plenty of table-setting for more action to come, it does that within both the film’s primary running time (kinda new!) and in a pair of post-credits scenes (the usual land of all those late-breaking twists).
Zhao’s eons-spanning epic introduces the titular Eternals — essentially, a race of immortal beings who have been (secretly) hanging out on Earth for thousands of years — and sees what happens when their apparent dedication to the safety of Earth’s inhabitants is threatened by a wide variety of forces. That’s the short version, but suffice it to say, it ends with...

Among film distribution executives in town, there’s a saying about Disney’s theatrical releases, in particular their Marvel titles: That they’re “five quad” movies.
What does that mean? Essentially, the Marvel Cinematic Universe titles are known to overindex and perform well beyond the norms of a regular four quadrant demographic tentpole which is aimed at male and females, over and under 25.
All the more reason with an IP such as Eternals, which is poised to appeal to a diverse range of moviegoers with a projected global opening weekend of $150M, that Disney reaches all points of the galaxy with their promotional partner campaign. In the case of Eternals, Disney has secured $100M in global marketing support from bespoke brands, higher than that of Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and also pre-pandemic MCU titles like 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy 2‘s which...

Spoiler Alert: This story contains details from Disney/Marvel’s Eternals.
Eternals director Chloé Zhao never considered casting anyone other than Harry Styles to portray Thanos’ brother Eros in a bonus scene from the Disney/Marvel film, which hit U.S. theaters on Thursday. All she needed to make that dream a reality was for Marvel boss Kevin Feige and the musician-actor to agree.
Styles steps into the MCU as the superhero Starfox in the first of two bonus scenes that air after the credits.
The bonus post-credit scene shows Eros and Pip the Troll (voiced by Patton Oswald) appear before Thena (Angelina Jolie), Druig (Barry Keoghan), and Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) who are left confused and needing assistance after Arishem the Judge (David Kaye) takes Sersi (Gemma Chan), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), and Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry) to reckon for their actions.

Spoiler Warning: This story discusses details of a single scene in Marvel Studios’ “Eternals,” which opens in theaters on Friday.
“Eternals” marks several milestones for Marvel Studios. It’s the first title in the MCU to be directed by an Oscar winner and a woman of color, Chloé Zhao. It’s the first feature film for the studio with title superheroes who are South Asian (Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo), Latina (Salma Hayek’s Ajak), deaf (Lauren Ridloff’s Makkari) and LGBTQ (Brian Tyree Henry’s Phastos). It’s the first to feature a same-sex kiss, between Phastos and his husband, Ben (Haaz Sleiman).
And it’s the first Marvel Studios movie to feature two characters having sex on screen.
When the latter was pointed out to Zhao in an interview in late October, the director broke into a wide grin. “We win!” she said.
