‘Beauty and the Beast’ filmmaker Bill Condon has been set to take the helm of a new remake of the classic musical ‘Guys and Dolls.’
Set in Depression-era New York, the story centres on a high roller and a small-time gambler as they try to lock down a date and a location for a floating craps game.
The story was most famously brought to life in the 1955 film adaptation that starred Frank Sinatra as Nathan Detroit and the one and only Marlon Brando as Sky Masterton. The adapted stageplay was the birth home of musical classics such as ‘Luck Be A Lady’, ‘Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat’ and ‘A Bushell and a Peck’.
In 1992, the revival, starring Nathan Lane and Faith Prince, was nominated for seven Tony Awards and won three, including best direction for a musical and best performance by a leading actress.

Broad Green: How Wall Street Wealth, A-List Talent, and Brash Decisions Made an Indie Player Implode
It takes guts to join the indie distribution fray, especially when the market is challenged by big buyers like Netflix and Amazon Studios (which, along with Annapurna, is optimistically taking over its own theatrical distribution) and television is chasing down the hottest indie talent. Even one-time high-flyer The Weinstein Co., which once knew better than anyone how to play the indie game, is evolving to survive during these changing times.
