Exclusive: George Blagden and Anna Popplewell will lead the cast of The Gallery, a UK interactive hostage-thriller project that will also be delivered separately as a linear film.
The feature contains two narratives, one following a female protagonist which takes place in London in 1981, and one following a male protagonist which takes place in London 2021. They both depict an art gallery curator being held hostage by a portrait painter who threatens to detonate a bomb unless their demands are met.
The project comes from director and writer Paul Raschid, who last year helmed the interactive romantic comedy Five Dates, which starred Doctor Who actress Mandip Gill and Vikings actress Georgia Hirst. That film was released on platforms including Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam.
The Gallery will be completed by October 2021. Shooting took place in February and March this year.

"We make our bakery something to remind them of home." Parkland Pics has debuted an official trailer for a British comedy titled Love Sarah, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Eliza Schroeder. This initially premiered at the Glasgow Film Festival earlier this year, and is set to arrive on VOD in the UK starting this September. A young woman wishes to fulfill her mother's dream of opening her own bakery in Notting Hill, London. To do this, she enlists the help of an old friend and her grandma. Celia Imrie stars with Shannon Tarbet, Shelley Conn, Rupert Penry-Jones, and Bill Paterson. This seems charming and enjoyable in a rather cliche uplifting, feel-good way. But then again, who doesn't love baked goods? And watching a mishmash of nice people build a London bakery from scratch does look quite delectable. Dig in. Here's the official trailer (+ UK poster) for Eliza Schroeder's Love Sarah,...

Directors Andy Delaney and Monty Whitebloom’s “Love Is Blind” should perhaps be titled “Love Is Arbitrary.” There’s no reasoning to how and why love manifests or dissipates in relationships, in much the same way the film’s character motivations flip and flop as script convenience calls. who struggles to recognize the broken people who populate her purview. Her ability to see only what she wants directly correlates to the film’s selective reasoning when it comes to contrivance and cloying poignancy.
Elizabeth Krafft (Shannon Tarbet), known to her friends as “Bess,” lives in an idyllic small town in upstate New York with her ailing father Murray (Matthew Broderick) and an albino peacock named Argus. She suffers from a rare disorder that affects her ability to see people who physically exist. Her discriminating blindness has caused a rift between Bess and her caring mother Carolyn (Chloë Sevigny). Ten years prior,...

After a cruel snub last year, Jodie Comer landed her first ever Emmy nomination this summer for her fascinating portrayal of assassin Villanelle in the hit spy series “Killing Eve.” Comer’s co-star Sandra Oh was the only nominated actress from the series in 2018. But Comer capitalized on growing buzz for the thriller and her recent BAFTA win to secure an Emmy bid alongside Oh in Best Drama Actress. She has submitted the season two episode “I Hope You Like Missionary” to voters for consideration.
In “I Hope You Like Missionary,” Eve recruits Villanelle for a covert mission to get close to tech mogul Aaron Peel (Henry Lloyd-Hughes) and gain intel. Undercover as pink-haired “Billie,” Villanelle first gains the trust of Peel’s sister Amber (Shannon Tarbet) by offering an emotional confession during Amber’s AA meeting. But when Amber’s caretaker bars Billie from seeing Amber after the meeting,...

After two Olivier Awards and a Drama Desk Award, plus a Tony nomination, Irish actress Fiona Shaw has now arrived at the Emmys with not one but two nominations: Best Comedy Guest Actress for “Fleabag” and Best Drama Supporting Actress for “Killing Eve.” In the latter, she plays Carolyn Martens, the erudite yet inscrutable head of the Russian Section at MI6, who proves to be a master manipulator in the second season of the darkly comedic BBC America drama. For consideration, she’s submitted the season’s second outing “Nice and Neat” to voters, which is also showrunner Emerald Fennell’s nominated episode in the writing category.
In this episode, aware of Eve’s (Sandra Oh) ongoing cat-and-mouse game with psychopathic assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer), Carolyn introduces her as an outside expert on female assassins to her new MI6 covert working group called Operation Manderlay. In the wake of Alistair Peel’s death,...

“I lived to tell the tale.”
On “Killing Eve,” not many can boast as much after a violent run-in with the assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). But for now, actor Henry Lloyd-Hughes can say his character Aaron Peel survives —albeit with a very bloody nose — after Sunday’s episode.
This season, “Killing Eve” introduces the idea of a different kind of threat, one that doesn’t operate as boldly and colorfully as Villanelle does. Aaron enters the picture after his father, the owner of tech giant Pharaday UK, is suspiciously murdered. When MI6 investigates, they suspect Aaron of patricide (through a paid assassin) and then hire Villanelle to go undercover as “Billie” to sniff out more information.

Keira Knightley stars as French novelist Colette in director Wash Westmoreland’s gorgeous and gripping period biopic Colette. What a marvelous film!
In late 19th- early20th century Paris, Colette broke barriers of all sorts for women. Although the story is set in Paris more than a century ago, this tale of a woman’s awakening to her own worth, her struggle to be free and be herself, and to be recognized for her own work is as thrilling as ever, and surprisingly timely.
Although the film is about a French writer, Westmoreland’s film is mostly in English. The film is a take on Colette as a feminist icon. Those who might quibble that Colette was not a feminist as much as just a woman...

Everything is and isn’t as it seems with Michael Pearce’s genre-fluid romantic thriller Beast. What starts with the template of rich girl falling for local bad boy against mom’s wishes turns to a case of serial murder with assumptions made every second that confirm what we believe is real just as they throw everything out the window. Nightmares point fingers inward, physical evidence out. Love becomes a weapon for hope and understanding as well as a mask for impending horror moving closer to home from the periphery. Pearce delivers numerous environmental and familial causes providing potential reasons as to why these characters might have it in them to kill. But none are more than excuses. They merely complicate matters until the truth exposes that evil needs no motivation.

This Jersey-set thriller from writer-director Michael Pearce is an accomplished feature debut. Beast packs a lot into its lean running time; and while it’s dotted with clichés, and some scenes fall flat, it is intelligent and atmospheric and it grips until the end.
Twenty-something Moll (Jessie Buckley) feels trapped in her middle-class home, which she shares with her dementia-suffering father and overbearing mother (Geraldine James). Moll was expelled from school as a young teenager and spent the rest of her formative years being home-schooled. Her mother never forgave her.
One night, Moll escapes her dismal birthday party and goes out clubbing. She’s rescued from a sleazebag by a wiry stranger, Pascal (Johnny Flynn). He’s a rule-breaker and a heartbreaker.

The first season of the Rellik TV show on Cinemax originally aired in UK on BBC One. Across the pond, this "limited" series initially made a pretty good showing, but after a couple of weeks, its ratings fell pretty far. Since Cinemax is also a producer on the series, its performance in the Us does play into its ultimate fate. So, will Rellik be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. Killing Eve Season 2 is set for more audacious bloodshed on BBC America.
Killing Eve impressed audiences with its stylistically subversive, thrilling, hilarious and terrifying spy story that also happens to be from a female perspective. BBC America obviously knew it had something special on its hands from the get-go, renewing Killing Eve for a second season before the first season even began airing!
Killing Eve showcases the dark, yet irreverent, rivalry between Sandra Oh’s unassuming MI5 pencil-pusher, Eve Polastri, and Jodie Comer’s psychopathic assassin, Villanelle — and it's been groundbreaking.
Indeed, the inagural season of the series reaped awards season accolades, nabbing a 2019 Golden Globes “Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Drama” win for Sandra Oh, as well as a “Best Television Series – Drama” nomination. Plus, it earned 2018 Primetime Emmy nominations for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” for Oh, and “Outstanding...

Film4 has unveiled an official trailer for the psychological mystery-thriller film titled Beast, which has been playing at major film festivals including Toronto, London, and Sundance this year. Johnny Flynn stars as the creepy guy, and Geraldine James as her mother, with a full cast including Charley Palmer Rothwell, Hattie Gotobed, Shannon Tarbet, Trystan Gravelle, Emily Taaffe, Olwen Fouere, and Tim Woodward.
