Team Jellyfish, rejoice because The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 ending had Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) picking Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), the outgoing younger Fisher brother. After crushing on Jeremiah’s older brother, Conrad (Christopher Briney), for years, and dating him until everything fell apart at prom, Belly decided to go from friends to more with Jeremiah.

Just as music is a big part of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the Amazon Prime Video original series’ star, Lola Tung, used it to get into character. What the actor listened to for a fast way to get into Isabel “Belly” Conklin’s “headspace” and what she looked for in songs.

Kim Petras’s “You Can’t Do Better” might’ve blared through the speakers as Belly sang along on the way to Cousins with her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman), and mother Laurel (Jackie Chung) in the Tsitp premiere episode. However, the track may not have made the cut for season 2 based on Tung’s description of her own Belly playlist that helped her get into character.
“It was a lot of slightly more emotional songs — songs that felt nostalgic,” she told The New York Times.

Ironically, one of Steven’s (Sean Kaufman) and Taylor’s (Rain Spencer) first conflicts as a couple revolves around Belly’s (Lola Tung) choice of romantic partners between Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno).
The love triangle debate became more contentious during Season 2 after Belly and Conrad had tried being together, but Susannah’s cancer made Conrad push Belly away. Their breakup was painful because Conrad didn’t exactly fight for Belly even though he was the one who initiated the conversation by saying he needed to talk to her. Belly had briefly held Jeremiah’s heart last season before Conrad returned her love, and Jere was very hurt when Belly ended up with Conrad.
Belly’s childhood best friend Taylor has always been more of a fan of Jeremiah. She has nicknamed their ‘ship “Team Jellyfish,” and as soon as Conrad breaks Belly’s heart at prom,...

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” has become known for its flashy soundtrack, which accompanies viewers at all moments of the emotional, teenage rollercoaster that viewers board when they start watching. Han has made a point to include as many Taylor Swift songs as possible in this series, but for those who are not Swifties, don’t worry. Only three of the nine total Swift songs used this season made it into this ranking of needle drops. You’re welcome.
For those who think this list will be full of pop, teen bops, look again! There are some oldies but goodies, alternative, folk and rock songs in addition to the bubblegum radio pop that represents coming of age as a teenager.
Here are the top 15 musical moments in Season 2, ranked from last to first:

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for all of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2.] Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has officially come to an end as Belly (Lola Tung) seemingly made her choice between the Fisher brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney). But the finale, “Love Triangle,” was about more than the title of the episode implies as it captured touching moments between Belly and Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) and also continued to further the romance between Belly’s best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer) and brother Steven (Sean Kaufman). It followed a cliffhanger ending to Episode 7, which saw Conrad catch Belly and Jeremiah kissing after waiting for him outside of his college finals. Needless to say, the scenario made for an awkward car ride as the trio headed to Belly’s family home in Pennsylvania after their stop at Brown University. (Credit: Prime Video) When a ...

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” actress Lola Tung supports the full circle ending of Season 2 for her character Isabel “Belly” Conklin.
Belly has navigated an emotional rollercoaster — from grieving Susannah and feeling isolated from the boys to confronting Conrad after two fallouts with him and then kissing Jeremiah — to reach the final scene of Season 2. Her now boyfriend, Jeremiah, supports her from the bleachers as she makes her case to her high school volleyball coach to let her back on the team. Once her coach accepts, Belly gets fired up playing the sport she loves surrounded by some of her biggest cheerleaders — including her best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer) in addition to Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).
“It’s really cool because the first time we see Belly in the present, besides the beginning flashback in episode one, she’s by herself. She’s at school in her own world. And the last time we see her,...

[This story includes spoilers from the season two finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty.]
Season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty brought tears, laughter, heartbreak and a whirlwind year for Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah and the rest of the gang. Amid Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) death, a complicated love triangle and strained family relationships, this summer was an emotional rollercoaster not only for the characters, but also for the audience watching.
Creator Jenny Han recently told The Hollywood Reporter that while season one was a “sort of fantasy of summer love,” season two was about learning that “nothing lasts forever” — a harsh reality for all.
In the Prime Video series, based on Han’s book trilogy of the same name, Belly (Lola Tung) is navigating life as a teenager, and young love. [This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] Prime Video‘s hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty is known for more than its controversial love triangle, as music remains a hot topic among viewers following each week’s new episode. As Season 2’s finale approaches, we can’t help but reflect on the various tunes shared throughout the season ranging from Taylor Swift songs like “Delicate (Taylor’s Version)” and “invisible string” to Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs” and Olivia Rodrigo‘s “drivers license.” While these are all memorable in their own way, we asked the stars of the series to choose a song of the summer from Seasons 1 and 2. It was a drunken call from Belly that tipped Laurel off as to what her children were really up to while she was away promoting her new memoir, “It’s Not Summer Without You.” The book was about meeting Susannah and living life as best friends from college.

According to the streaming service, season three was actually greenlit before either the writers or actors strikes. Obviously, production will not get underway until the strikes are over.

Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and the summer boys are back in Season 2 of Jenny Han’s television adaptation of her beloved young adult “The Summer I Turned Pretty” books. Based on the second book in the trilogy, “It’s Not Summer Without You,” Season 2 drops July 14 with three episodes launching on Amazon Prime Video. Belly’s love triangle with Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah Fisher (Gavin Casalegno) is far from resolved, as indicated last season when Belly expressed strong feelings for Conrad, but then kissed Jeremiah before ultimately ending up with Conrad again.
The official trailer for Season 2 debuted Taylor Swift’s “Back to December (Taylor’s Version)” after a short snippet of the singer’s “folklore” song “August” to showcase how the second installment will jump back and forth between the latest summer and the winter before it that Belly spent dating Conrad long distance.

It’s not summer without “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Prime Video’s hit teen drama has returned for Season 2. The television show of the summer for teens sprang from the pages of Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy. Season 2 of the Prime Video series, which debuted July 14, takes on the events of the second book, “It’s Not Summer Without You.” As with Season 1, several changes were made to the adaptation for the small screen, such as the addition of new characters and the expansion of certain storylines. Other details, large and small, make the show a bit different from Han’s second book, but with the author also serving as showrunner on the series, these changes come naturally.
Season 1 had its own changes that ripple into Season 2, such as Jeremiah’s bisexuality, Laurel’s career as an author (she is a professor in the books) and more. Kyra Sedgewick and Elsie Fisher joined Season 2 as completely new characters that don’t exist in the books.

While watching the first three episodes of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" season two - released Friday, July 14, on Amazon Prime Video - I came back to one thought over and over: can someone be nice to Belly?! Stop reading if you haven't watched yet, but when the show picks up, the school year is about to end, and Belly (Lola Tung) is bereft because their family friend Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) has died about a month ago. Susannah's illness has hung over the whole school year, with Belly's mom, Laurel (Jackie Chung), spending a lot of time going back and forth to the Fisher house to lend a hand to Susannah, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), and Conrad (Christopher Briney).
Belly, meanwhile, has struggled basically since the last summer ended. Her grades aren't as good. She underperformed on her volleyball team. Of course, this all makes sense given what she's gone through,...

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Star Sean Kaufman Explains Why Season 2 Feels ‘Crazy Different’ (Video)
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 delves into some summertime sadness, and the actors found it tough to stay in the season’s dramatic headspace for too long.

Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” television adaptation made a splash last summer with all kinds of young adult romance and drama. Lola Tung brought main character Isabel “Belly” Conklin to life as she returned to Cousins Beach, where she has spent every summer of her childhood with her mother’s best friend Susannah Fisher (Rachel Blanchard) and her sons Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Belly’s glow-up did not go unnoticed by both Fisher brothers, but she opted to strike up a romance with Cam Cameron (David Iacono) instead before things got a bit messy. A volleyball tournament and debutante ball drove last season’s plot, as did certain relationships.
Season 2 launched July 14 with new episodes rolling out weekly, expanding upon the events that drove the end of Season 1 home — Susannah’s cancer diagnosis, Belly and Conrad’s kiss and more. Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher...

The second season of Prime Video’s teen romance series “The Summer I Turned Pretty” stays on course.
Author Jenny Han is a familiar name to young adult readers thanks to her contemporary romances like “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” Once Netflix adapted that trilogy into a wildly popular series of rom-coms, Han emerged as a real power player in film and TV. Han has evolved into a savvy and reliable showrunner, bringing her own novels and characters to life with a deft touch and keen understanding of her core audience. This revelation may have come to many of her fans via the sweet but sharp Netflix series “Xo, Kitty,” but she’d already established her behind-the-camera credentials over on Amazon thanks to the adaptation of her pre-To All the Boys YA romance series, “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”

“The Summer I Turned Pretty” actress Rain Spencer has been promoted to a series regular in her role as Taylor Jewel, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
Taylor is Belly Conklin’s (Lola Tung) best friend, but she takes a backseat in Jenny Han’s book trilogy on which Amazon’s Prime Video show is based. Taylor kissed Belly’s brother Steven (Sean Kaufman) in Season 1, causing a brief moment of drama with Belly as well as Steven because he was technically dating another girl Shayla (Minnie Mills) that summer.
Spencer also starred in “Good Girl Jane,” a film that won Best U.S. Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival in the summer of 2022 and for which Spencer won Best Performance at Tribeca.

Belly Conklin is back in the official trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2.
Unfortunately for Belly, the tone in the just-released footage is anything but pretty.
Ever since its debut on Prime Video last summer, the series has focused on the relationship between the characters as they try to come to terms with the pitfalls of being a teenager.
The new trailer has a somber tone that won't let up as we witness Belly's struggle about whether Conrad or Jeremiah is right for her.
There are also hints that Belly might be losing someone close to her, possibly for good, which leaves us with more questions than answers as we await fresh episodes of the teen drama.
To help hit you right in the feels, Prime Video included Taylor Swift's "Back to December (Taylor's Version)" and August.

"The Summer I Turned Pretty" season two is almost here! The newest installment of the YA summer romance series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video this July, and it'll have lots more sand, sun, and romantic chaos. Most of the main cast are back for the new episodes, including Lola Tung as leading lady Belly, Gavin Casalegno as the bubbly Jeremiah, and Christopher Briney as the moody Conrad.
The second season will loosely adapt the second novel in the series of the same name by author Jenny Han, titled "It's Not Summer Without You." And while we don't know how exactly the show will adapt that story for the small screen, we do know some crucial information about the show's cast.
The new season is adding two characters, played by Elsie Fisher and Kyra Sedgwick. Prime Video has yet to announce what their exact roles are, but it looks like they'll be shaking things up.

Amazon is changing the rollout model for season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The series based on the book trilogy from Jenny Han is shifting from a binge drop for season one to a weekly rollout for the sophomore season. Season two will debut July 14 with the first three of its eight-episode run. Subsequent episodes will then debut weekly on Fridays with the finale out Aug. 18.
Season one of the series starring Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, and Rain Spencer launched with all seven episodes on June 17, 2022. Amazon, which does not release viewership data, says Summer “became the No. 1 show on Prime Video during its premiere weekend.”
The change in the release pattern comes as writers have gone on strike as the guild seeks increased residuals from streaming, viewership transparency and other protections from so-called mini rooms and the use of artificial intelligence.

Sarah Elizabeth Mintz moved back to New York this month after a seven-year stint in Los Angeles while she was working out Good Girl Jane, her debut feature that just landed with a splash, winning Best Narrative Film at the Tribeca Festival as well as Best Actress for star Rain Spencer.
In a conversation with Deadline, Mintz describes the long path and motivation behind the drama of teenage alienation and addiction inspired by her real-life freshman year in high school. “Substance abuse carries a lot of shame a lot of misconception,” she said. “What mattered was to shed some light on the isolation I felt. I know that had I seen that type of isolation on the screen, it would truly have affected me, made me feel less alone.”

In our Q&a series Last Call, we get down to the bottom of every last thing with some of our favorite celebs - from the last time they were starstruck to the last song they listened to. This week, Lola Tung takes our call.
Lola Tung wants to set things straight - she's not Team Jeremiah, Conrad, or Cam. "I'm Team Belly," she tells Popsugar. "I think that is the only right answer. But I very much believe that she should follow her heart, and I believe in her going on her own journey and discovering that by herself."
Tung stars as Isabella "Belly" Conklin in "The Summer I Turned Pretty," the new series from Prime Video. Season one features seven episodes and covers book one of Jenny Han's Summer book trilogy. Another of Han's book series also inspired Netflix's hit "To All The Boys I Loved Before" film series.

As a coming-of-age story, Amazon’s The Summer I Turned Pretty is a cut above. Tenderly written and endearingly acted, it’s sensitive to the subtle but irreversible shifts in self-perception that come with late adolescence — and at the same time clear-eyed enough to understand that teenagers, up to and including its own blushing heroine, sure can act like clueless jerks while they’re figuring out how to wield their newfound powers.
It’s a bit of a bummer, then, that it’s wrapped up in a love story that’s not nearly so convincing, rooted in connections that aren’t so much felt as explained thoroughly in voiceover. While not clumsy enough to sink The Summer I Turned Pretty entirely, they do keep the series from soaring as high as it otherwise might.

The fraught world of teenage girlhood has long proven to be a fertile one for filmmakers. And, over the last decade, it’s provided a way for creators to go back into the past to re-examine the way teenage girls were overly sexualized and cast adrift in the wild world of the late 1990s and early aughts. Director Sarah Elizabeth Mintz returns audiences to 2005 with her feature, “Good Girl Jane,” a feature-length narrative based off her short film of the same name. While the film features several moments that are truly harrowing and are anchored by powerful performances by her young cast,
When the film opens, Jane (Rain Spencer) has transferred to a new school in Los Angeles after a series of bullying incidents at her old school. While her sister is able to make the adjustment with ease, Jane is still adrift, losing herself in harsh music and isolation.
