During his Monday return to the anchor chair, The Daily Show host Jon Stewart brought up the topic of the so-called cancel culture that is allegedly plaguing the political right. He concluded that while mostly these pundits claim the woke left are coming to get them, the true cancel culture of today only occurs when a Republican speaks ill of former president Donald Trump.
Following some light jabs and gags around Trump’s current criminal trial in New York — one which had Stewart comparing the former president to the cartoon character Mr. Magoo (‘He’s just stumbling around, quid pro quo and metal beams falling all around, gets out completely unscathed”), the host brought up the hot topic of Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker. The religious pro-athlete gave a commencement speech at Benedictine College last week where he condemned abortion, euthanasia, IVF, surrogacy and the LGBTQ community — and then...

House Speaker Mike Johnson made headlines on Tuesday when he attended former President Donald Trump’s criminal trial in New York. In doing so, he became the highest-ranking Republican official to offer support to Trump and endorse his criticisms of the U.S. justice system.
Johnson is the most recent GOP figure to visit the courtroom as he faces accusations that he falsified business records to conceal hush money payments directed to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election. Alongside Trump at the courthouse were Gov. Doug Burgum (R-North Dakota), who has been mentioned as a potential running mate for Trump in the 2024 election, as well as Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Florida.) and Rep. Cory Mills (R-Florida.).
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), another potential vice presidential candidate, along with Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) and Rick Scott (R-Florida), had previously appeared at the trial to show their support for Trump.

Updated: House Speaker Mike Johnson is the latest figure to lend his support to Donald Trump and his claim that the New York hush money trial is a “sham.”
Johnson was in the background as Trump made his regular morning statement to the press in the hallway just outside the courtroom, and the speaker nodded at the former president as he made his way in.
Also joining Trump were other supporters, including Vivek Ramaswamy, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-fl) and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. Ramaswamy and Burgum are among a number of vice presidential contenders to visit the courthouse to show their fealty to Trump, on trial for allegedly falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Former President Donald Trump has received backlash on social media after a rant about the Battle of Gettysburg in which he got numerous facts wrong.
This battle, which took place from July 1 to July 3, 1863, revolved around Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee launching a second invasion of the North, only for him to be defeated by General George Meade’s Army of the Potomac in a conflict which had resulted in over 50,000 casualties.
“Gettysburg, what an unbelievable battle that was,” Trump stated during a Schnecksville, Pennsylvania rally on April 13. “The Battle of Gettysburg, what an unbelievable… I mean it was so much, and so interesting and so vicious and horrible and so beautiful in so many different ways. It represented such a big portion of the success of this country – Gettysburg, wow.”

NBC News has cut ties with former RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, just days after she was announced as a paid analyst for the network. There had been a growing internal backlash at the division over her hire.
Meanwhile, CAA also has dropped McDaniel as a client, sources familiar with the situation tell Deadline.
A source also confirmed reports that McDaniel was seeking potential legal options for her next steps.
NBCUniversal News Group Chairman Cesar Conde made the announcement about McDaniel’s exit in an memo to staffers (see it in full below). In his missive, Conde took responsibility for what happened, but it was unclear whether there will be further repercussions.
“No organization, particularly a newsroom, can succeed unless it is cohesive and aligned. Over the last few days, it has become clear that this appointment undermines that goal,” Conde wrote in the memo.

Ronna McDaniel, the former chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, is joining NBC News as a political analyst.
McDaniel will start in her role on Sunday with an appearance on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker. She will sit for an interview, her first since stepping down last month. The network said that the conversations to secure the interview started months before McDaniel was hired as a contributor.
McDaniel will appear on NBC News and MSNBC, and will be part of the network’s campaign and election night programming. That also will include appearances on NBC News Now.
McDaniel, the second woman to serve as RNC chair, was a steadfast defender of former President Donald Trump. About a year after the attacks on the Capitol, she presided over an RNC resolution to censure Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for their work as members of a House committee investigating the siege.

Former President Donald Trump called for the jailing of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) and the rest of the January 6 Committee for “withholding information” about their investigation into his actions during the U.S. Capitol riot.
Trump made this claim based on a report from an obscure website that disputed the testimony from a former White House staffer Cassidy Hutchinson.
In June 2022, Hutchinson appeared at the House Committee’s sixth public hearing regarding the Capitol riots.
She testified that Tony Ornato, the White House deputy chief of operations, called her into his office and shared a story that Agent Bobby Engel, head of Trump’s Secret Service detail, reported shared to him moments before.
He told Hutchinson that the former president entered a transport vehicle but was “irate” when told he could not go to the Capitol, saying that he was “the f—ing President”, and had demanded the driver...

Updated: The Supreme Court will hear arguments in April on whether Donald Trump has immunity from prosecution on criminal charges that he conspired to remain in office after the 2020 election.
Oral arguments are set for the week of April 22, a calendar date that raises doubts that a trial on the January 6th related charges will happen before the election.
But the high court has in the meantime stayed an appellate court mandate that overwhelmingly concluded that Trump did not have immunity.
The stay will further delay any start of the trial in the D.C. criminal case, where the former president faces four conspiracy counts related to his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election that ultimately led to the attack on the Capitol on January 6th. The district court has put a trial on hold as Trump’s legal team pursues its claims of immunity, and the Supreme...

The Conservative Political Action Conference has become much more of a Maga event in recent years, with Donald Trump himself scheduled on Saturday to address the event of conservative activists, media figures and supporters.
But the event has been covered on the right and the left, save for perhaps this year.
Matt Schlapp, the chair of the conference, said that he was not going to credential those in the left.
“Cpac has a new rule. If you are a propagandist, you can buy a ticket like everyone else, but you are not in the media, and we are not going to credential you by saying you are in the media,” Schlapp said on Steve Bannon’s podcast.
He singled out MSNBC, saying it was “100% anti Trump, anti-America, anti-conservative, every moment of every day. They never have any kind of honest treatment of anything.”
“Let’s get real. Let’s not credential them anymore,...

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) warned of the emergence of a “Putin wing” of the Republican party and urged voters not to elect Donald Trump in November.
During an interview on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, Cheney — an avid critic of Trump — criticized the former president after he said he would not defend NATO allies following an attack from Russia. She also noted his silence following the death of Alexei Navalny, the anti-corruption, pro-democracy opposition leader in Russia.
“I think that we have to take Donald Trump very seriously,” Cheney said. “We have to take seriously the extent to which you have now got a Putin wing of the Republican party.”
“I believe the issue this election cycle is making sure the Putin wing of the Republican party does not take over the West Wing of the White House,” she continued.

The news of the death of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny very quickly put a focus on Tucker Carlson, the right-wing talk host who recently trekked to Moscow to interview Vladimir Putin.
Carlson told the Daily Mail today that “it’s horrifying what happened to Navalny. The whole thing is barbaric and awful. No decent person would defend it.”
In the wake of reports of Navalny’s death, Carlson faced another round of backlash after interviewing Putin last week and for subsequent social media posts. In them, Carlson trumpeted a Moscow subway station and a grocery store.
Former congresswoman Liz Cheney wrote on X/Twitter earlier today, “This is what Putin’s Russia is, Tucker Carlson. And you are Putin’s useful idiot. Same with you J.D. Vance and other Putin-wing Republicans who are working to defeat Ukraine in its struggle for freedom.”
Carlson posted his interview with Putin on X/Twitter on Feb.

John Sauer, Donald Trump‘s lead lawyer in his federal election fraud case, declared that presidential immunity would allow a U.S. president to order Seal Team Six to assassinate a political rival without having to face criminal prosecution.
Sauer made the wild claim for executive immunity at a hearing at a federal appeals court on January 9.
When delivering his statement, he said that only if a president has been impeached and Congress has removed him from office, only then could they be criminally prosecuted.
According to Sauer, this means that Trump is immune from criminal prosecution.
“Could a president who ordered Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival, and is not impeached, would he be subject to criminal prosecution?” one judge asked Sauer.

On January 6, former President Donald Trump declared that the U.S. Civil War could have been “negotiated” – and might not have happened at all.
He made these remarks during a campaign rally taking place in Newton, Iowa, ahead of the state’s caucuses on January 15.
“The [American] Civil War was so fascinating,” Trump stated. “It was so horrible, it was so fascinating. It was – I don’t know, it was just different.”
“I’m so attracted to seeing it,” he confessed. “So many mistakes were made. See, there was something I think could’ve been negotiated to be honest with you – I think you could have negotiated that.”
“All the people died – so many people died,” the former president added. “If you got hit by a bullet in the leg, you were essentially going to die or lose the leg, that’s why you had so many people, no legs, no arms.

The Republican Accountability Pac has created a new ad that calls Donald Trump a “dictator.”
The ad, called “Dictator Donald,” was produced by a Republican group that stands opposed to Trump.
The “Dictator Donald” was posted on YouTube over two weeks after Trump announced that he wanted to be a dictator on “the first day” of a new Trump administration.
The ad warns Americans in the starkest terms about a second Trump term.
The ad starts with a recording of an alarm clock going off at 6:00 a.m.
Next, the ad shows a clip of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) shown inside an old TV, warning Americans during an interview.
“This isn’t hyperbole,” she claimed. “A vote for Donald Trump may mean the last election that you ever get to vote in.”
“He’s a threat to democracy,” Trump’s Secretary of Defense Mark Esper states in another clip.

Former President Donald Trump has once again utilized his social media platform to spread unsubstantiated information and claimed Liz Cheney engaged in “extreme sabotage.”

Donald Trump Posts Holiday Greeting To Biden & Prosecutors: ‘May They Rot In Hell. Merry Christmas.’
In an unexpected Christmas message posted to Truth Social, former President Donald Trump raged against various individuals whom he believes are “looking to destroy” the nation.
The messages, disseminated throughout Monday, targeted President Joe Biden, Special Counsel Jack Smith, world leaders and proponents of electric cars.
Trump’s Truth Social post, shared at 2:38 p.m. Est, began with a holiday greeting tinged with accusatory language: “Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s Only Hope, Deranged Jack Smith.”
Trump has consistently characterized Smith, who currently spearheads the prosecution against Trump for his alleged role in the 2020 election and the January 6 Capitol attack, as mentally deranged. It should be noted that the Supreme Court recently rejected Smith’s plea for an immediate ruling on Trump’s assertion of legal immunity, and cited the former president’s argument that his actions were protected under presidential authority.

Liz Cheney, in a sometimes contentious interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, at one point addressed the network’s viewers with a message: Don’t vote for Donald Trump.
“We can have conservative policies without having to torch the Constitution,” Cheney said. “And so what I would urge people watching today who are going to be voting in those caucuses and in those primaries, vote for somebody else. Do not vote for somebody who already tried to seize power.”
Now an outcast from the Republican party for her criticism of Trump and her warnings about giving him a second term, Cheney has made numerous appearances across other media outlets as she promotes her book, Oath and Honor. Her first big sitdown was with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, and there was some question as to whether she would appear on Fox News at all. On CNBC, Cheney criticized Fox News host Sean Hannity for “enabling” Trump.

Paul Ryan, the former speaker of the House of Representatives, said former President Donald Trump is an “authoritarian narcissist.”

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) expressed her grave concerns about the potential consequences of a second presidential term for Donald Trump.
The daughter of former Republican vice president, Cheney believes that Trump would attempt to establish himself as a permanent president and refuse to leave office after the constitutionally mandated two-term limit, should he be reelected.
“There’s no question,” she told Today. “Absolutely. He’s already done it once. … He’s already attempted to seize power, and he was stopped, thankfully, and for the good of the nation and the republic. But he said he will do it again. He’s expressed no remorse for what he did.”
Cheney, a lifelong Republican who broke ranks with the party after she led the House of Representatives committee that investigated the January 6 Capitol attack, discussed the threat she sees to democracy in her new book, Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning.

“There’s no question,” she told Today. “Absolutely. He’s already done it once. … He’s already attempted to seize power, and he was stopped, thankfully, and for the good of the nation and the republic. But he said he will do it again. He’s expressed no remorse for what he did.”

Former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) said that she would rather the 2024 presidential election be won by a Democratic candidate, calling members of her own party a “threat.”
In an interview with CBS, Cheney said, “I believe very strongly in those principles and ideals that have defined the Republican Party, but the Republican Party of today has made a choice and they haven’t chosen the Constitution, and so I do think it presents a threat if the Republicans are in the majority in January 2025.”
After she defied her party when she spoke out against former President Donald Trump in the aftermath of the January 6 Capitol insurrection, Cheney, once the No. 3 leader of the House Republican Conference, was removed from her position and later lost her seat.
Her refusal to temper her criticisms of Trump in the weeks and months after the insurrection led to significant alienation from fellow party members.

After declaring last week he’d swoop the blue states if Jesus himself “came down,” Donald Trump returned to Iowa for a town hall in Davenport hosted by Fox News’ Sean Hannity. During the sit-down, the former president evaded Hannity’s questions on whether he would abuse power if he were to be elected president for asecond term.
“Do you in any way, have any plans whatsoever if re-elected president to abuse power, to break the law, to use the government to go after people?” asked the host.

Liz Cheney’s claim that Donald Trump was so sad after Jan. 6 that he stopped eating is keeping him up at night. In a Truth Social rant published in the wee hours of Monday morning, Trump vehemently denied the anecdote, countering that he wasn’t eating too little, but was so enraged that he was “eating too much.”
In Cheney’s upcoming book, Oath and Honor, the former Republican congresswoman describes an interaction with former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. In the aftermath of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, McCarthy...

Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) revealed in her memoir Oath and Honor that after former president Donald Trump’s defeat in the 2020 reelection and departure from office in January 2021, he experienced a deep state of despair and was allegedly “not eating.”
This information was divulged to Cheney by the then-Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) when he attempted to justify his visit to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. McCarthy’s solidarity with the ex-president has been widely regarded as a pivotal moment in the revitalization of Trump’s political prospects.
McCarthy had strongly criticized Trump for his role in the attack on the Capitol on January 6 and even suggested that Trump resign.
However, McCarthy reversed his stance and effectively absolved the former president.
Cheney, known for her role as one of the most outspoken anti-Trump Republicans, recounted how McCarthy justified his visit on January 28 as an act of compassion towards a defeated ally.

Stephen Colbert is set to return to the Ed Sullivan Theater on Monday after suffering a ruptured appendix.
The Late Show was canceled last week after the comedian had to have surgery. It meant that he wasn’t able to talk to guests including Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Patrick Stewart, Jon Batiste and Kelsey Grammer, nor air Barbra Streisand taking The Colbert Questionert.
However, he is planning to be on the show next week and has lined up a guest list of stars.
On Monday, Sarah Paulson and Jason Isbell will be on the show with the Drive-By Trucker performing with his band the 400 Unit. Tuesday sees Mark Ruffalo and a performance by Daniel Caesar; Wednesday has Nicki Minaj and Sara Bareilles, while Colbert will close out the week with Rep. Liz Cheney, who is touting a new book with the revelation that Donald Trump was “depressed” and “not eating” after the January 6 insurrection.

McCarthy was a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and Trump backed McCarthy’s initial bid to become Speaker, but the former president left the California congressman out to dry in his time of need last month, with Rolling Stone reporting that he told allies it was up to McCarthy to save himself.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) recalls another House member calling former President Donald Trump “Orange Jesus” in her new book, Oath and Honor.
According to Cheney, House members were encouraged to sign onto electoral vote objection sheets while in the cloakroom during the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, 2029.
She writes that there was a sheet for each state that GOP members were against.
“Among them was Republican Congressman Mark Green of Tennessee,” she wrote. “As he moved down the line, signing his name to the pieces of paper, Green said sheepishly, to no one in particular, ‘The things we do for the Orange Jesus.'”

Updated, with additional reaction: Liz Cheney’s new book is a scathing portrait of Republican “enablers and collaborators” who are responsible for the continued hold that Donald Trump has on the party, CNN reported on Tuesday.
With Cheney’s Oath and Honor set to be published next week, CNN Jamie Gangel obtained an advance copy and described it as an “unflinching” look at her former GOP colleagues. Cheney was ousted from Republican leadership as she continued to criticize Trump in the aftermath of the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
“You get personal conversations, Republican meetings,” Gangel said on Jake Tapper’s The Lead, adding that Cheney recounts being on a Trump surrogates call on Jan. 4, 2021 in which she hears “the stark specific planning” for January 6th.

Donald Trump was so depressed after his supporters’ attempted coup on Jan. 6 failed that he stopped eating — or so says Kevin McCarthy, according to a new book by former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney.
Cheney writes in Oath and Honor — which was exclusively reviewed by CNN — that she questioned the former House Speaker about a trip he made to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in the aftermath of the Capitol riot, a time when Republicans were still willing to condemn Trump’s role in the violence that took place on Jan. 6.

There will be no guardrails,” the former congresswoman and member of the Jan. 6 committee said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union.

Update, 1:51 p.m. Pt: Rep. Jim Jordan (R-oh) won the GOP nomination to become the next House Speaker, but he still appeared to be a ways away from securing a majority.
Jordan got 124 votes in secret balloting this afternoon, to 81 for Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga), according to Punchbowl News and other outlets. Scott got into the race at the last minute earlier today.
Jordan needs 217 votes to win the speakership, although that threshold may change if lawmakers are absent. Jordan requested another secret ballot to see if members would back him in a public vote on the floor of the House, but the vote was 152-55, still far short.
“He’ll get there,” former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted last week, told CNN’s Manu Raju as he exited the GOP conference meeting.
McCarthy said that Jordan has to “just sit down and talk” to the holdouts.

MSNBC host Chris Hayes unpacked the news that Donald Trump has endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan for speaker of the House on Friday night, explaining how Jordan as speaker would be a “near-worst-case scenario” in the wake of former Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s ouster.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy continues to go back and forth on his thoughts about Donald Trump’s prospects in the 2024 election and, at this point, Whoopi Goldberg has had enough. On Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” the ABC host said McCarthy simply needs to “grow a pair of cajones” and quit flip-flopping.
Goldberg’s thoughts came at the very end of the first Hot Topics segment, which originally started based on Liz Cheney’s recent comments that America is “electing idiots” to political office. As the conversation progressed, host Joy Behar noted that she blames “people who enable the stupidity,” more than anyone.

Updated: Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-wy) has a succinct take on what’s wrong with American politics: “We’re electing idiots.”
Cheney, whose criticism of former President Donald Trump likely cost her her congressional seat last year, was interviewed at an event at the 92nd Street Y in New York on Monday by David Rubenstein, co-founder and co-chairman of the Carlyle Group.
He asked Cheney whether she would consider an independent White House bid.
She answered, “What we’ve done in our politics is create a situation where we’re electing idiots, and so I don’t look at it through the lens of, is this what I should do or what I shouldn’t do. I look at it through the lens of, ‘How do we elect serious people?’ And I think electing serious people can’t be partisan.”
She went on to blame the problem in part on the closed primary process.

Former Republican Representative Liz Cheney is going after Donald Trump in a new ad, which is scheduled to air in New Hampshire ahead of CNN’s town hall with Trump on Wednesday. The pointed minute-long commercial calls out Trump’s involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and claims that “there has never been a greater dereliction of duty by any president.”
“Donald Trump has proven he is unfit for office. Donald Trump is a risk America can never take again,” Cheney says in the final seconds of the commercial.
The ad switches between clips of Trump and the Jan. 6 riots as Cheney provides a voiceover. “Donald Trump is the only president in American history who has refused to guarantee the peaceful transfer of power. He betrayed millions of Americans by telling them the election was stolen. He ignored the rulings of dozens of courts,” Cheney says.

House Republicans celebrated their newfound majority earlier this year by forming a special subcommittee to investigate supposed anti-conservative bias throughout the government. The Weaponization of the Federal Government Committee has largely been a flop, with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) helming a series of hearings that instead of unearthing “deep state” conspiracies have highlighted just how little the GOP is concerned with actual governance.
The committee’s hearing on Thursday, meant to examine whether the Biden administration influence how social media companies handled the Covid-19 pandemic, was no different. Jordan called far-right Sen.

Two thousand attendees at the National Pro-Life Summit cast their votes on Saturday for their favorite prospective GOP nominee for president in 2024. The winner is: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. It was the first 2024 straw poll conducted among anti-abortion voters, one of the Republican Party’s most loyal voting blocs.
DeSantis banked more than half of the votes cast, 53.73 percent. Former President Donald Trump placed in a distant second with just 19.22 percent. His former deputy, Mike Pence — who has called often for a national ban on abortion — took home roughly eight percent.

French brothers Jules and Gedeon Naudet are known for their documentary about New York firefighters that became “9/11” – an on-the-ground account of the Sept. 11 terror attacks in the city. Over two decades later, the brothers have made another docu about an attack on America’s democracy titled “January 6th.” Told from the perspective of the Capitol and Metropolitan police officers, journalists, senators and congressmen, the doc is meant to be an apolitical account of the attack on the U.S. Capitol in 2021. Then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Metropolitan Police Commander Robert Glover, and former congresswoman Liz Cheney, are among the 50 survivors who participated in the two-and-a-half-hour Discovery+ film.
The Naudet brothers spoke to Variety about their decision not to interview Capitol insurrectionists, making a film without political bias, and why they specifically wanted to partner with Discovery+.

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a Republican party outcast as a member of the January 6th Committee, is joining CNN as senior political commentator.
Kinzinger served six terms in the U.S. House, representing an Illinois congressional district. In addition to the January 6th Committee, he served on the House Energy and Commerce and Foreign Affairs committees.
On Twitter, he’s been commenting on the stalemate as House Republicans have been unable to elect a new speaker, stalling any work in the House. “The world can now see what we had to deal with for years,” Kinzinger wrote, remarking on a comment made by Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-tx), who griped that the GOP holdouts to Kevin McCarthy for speaker were “just being clowns.”
Kinzinger served in the Air Force in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in November 2003 and later awarded his pilot wings, and has served in the Air Force Special Operations,...

Amidst the final exit of several strapping small screen war horses, 2022 may go down as the year Peak TV hit middle age – in a good way
Not saying a midlife crisis and cherry red sportscars are in the mix, yet. However, besides the ever-tightening economic constrictions girdling the industry, the past 12 months has witnessed a maturation of narrative that enhanced even Star Wars, Marvel and DC Comics offerings.
Reaching that prime of life level was personified in primetime by Abbott Elementary.
Having premiered on December 7, 2021, the Quinta Brunson created ABC sitcom isn’t officially on my list. Yet, like how The Clash’s London Calling is rightly considered one of the best albums on the 1980s even though it came out in December 1979, the excellence of Abbott Elementary, plus the rebirth it gave to network relevance, has to be acknowledged. According, top notch second and third seasons respectively of FX...

It’s time for the Justice Department to decide if former President Donald Trump and his key allies should face legal consequences for their much-scrutinized efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
In the waning days of the 117th Congress, as the House prepares to shift from Democrat to GOP majority control, the high-profile Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the United States Capitol dropped its 845-page final report after 18 months of investigation. The Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol building left several people dead and delivered a jolt to the nation about the depth of political polarization among Americans.
The hefty report makes a voluminous case that Trump and some of his top lieutenants and advisors refused to accept reality and worked hard to overturn the November 2020 election results. The report includes page after page of testimony from Jan. 6 participants about what the report...
