After months of speculation and heated discussions, Netflix’s brand new sci-fi action movie Atlas starring Jennifer Lopez is finally here, and it’s still pretty much controversial.
Despite being crushed by both critics and viewers, Atlas is having quite a good time as the film was quick to climb to the number one spot in Netflix’s top 10, according to the most recent data from FlixPatrol.
Also starring Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown and Mark Strong, the movie follows Atlas Shepherd, a sophisticated data analyst who has trust issues regarding the newest technologies, especially when it comes to using AI.
Atlas has her own mission to capture the AI terrorist Harlan who, as his interrogated team later reveals, has escaped and is now hiding on another planet. Learning about it, Atlas embarks on a continuous search for Harlan by accompanying the military mission to find and capture the criminal.

After watching J.Lo’s latest film, I began to wonder: Is Atlas the first pro-artificial intelligence movie of the decade? A prominent issue today is the use of AI. Atlas comes across as a movie from a studio trying to convince the public that AI is good for society. Initially, you might say no because Atlas spends so much time trying to destroy AI rather than protect it.
However, as the film progresses, the subtext and themes become so blatant that they’re impossible to miss. Atlas is the first pro-artificial intelligence film of its kind, practically propaganda. One of the film’s hidden messages is that AI doesn’t hurt society; the people who create it do. The other is that AI can be helpful if used in the right way.
The message from Atlas is on par with “guns don’t kill people, people don’t kill people,...

Is anyone else getting tired of filler?
While there were some strong moments during Grey's Anatomy Season 20 Episode 7, it's also evident that the series is full of filler, and we have a lot to say about that.
Join Grey's Fanatics Haley Whitmire White, Lucy Peel, and Jasmine Blu as they discuss it all.
Do you enjoy these medical case-focused installments, or are you missing the interpersonal drama?
Haley: It's fine, but I miss old Grey's with the drama, big events, and crises. The filler episodes are a little boring. This particular one was great, though, and I was glad to see the writers shed light on another very serious issue (high rates of maternal mortality among Black women).
Lucy: I really enjoyed the episode. I was happy to have a break from the petty back-and-forth.
And while it was medically focused, it moved everyone's stories forward just a bit.

Reader, you have been lied to! Film history is littered with unfairly maligned classics, whether critics were too eager to review the making of rather than the finished product, or they suffered from underwhelming ad campaigns or general disinterest. Let’s revise our takes on some of these films from wrongheaded to the correct opinion.
In 1972, Peter Bogdanovich, Francis Coppola, and William Friedkin were three of the hottest directors in Hollywood thanks to finding the sweet spot between art and box office with “The Last Picture Show,” “The Godfather,” and “The French Connection,” respectively. With their newfound clout, the young auteurs formed The Directors Company, a partnership based at Paramount, where they were given complete creative freedom to make anything they wanted as long as they worked within modest budgets. One of the most popular medical television series, Grey's Anatomy, already has 20 seasons. In 2019, it broke the duration record previously set by ER – 427 episodes against 332. More than three thousand actors have already participated in the show, not many of them are remembered by the viewers, but there is one character who died back in season 11, but is still loved by fans – Dr. Derek Shepherd.
Why Did Patrick Dempsey Leave Grey's Anatomy?
Grey's Anatomy was left without everyone's favorite Dr. Shepherd after Patrick Dempsey had a falling out with showrunner Shonda Rhimes. As it turns out, Dempsey had been complaining about his character's storyline for a long time, implying that he didn't have enough screen time.
The situation was aggravated by the fact that the actor cheated on his wife with one of the assistant producers of Grey's Anatomy. Their affair added to the tension on the set, as many of Dempsey's co-stars knew his wife.

The good news is, there are plenty of new streaming titles coming to various platforms this month to help you stay entertained! The Streamable has compiled our list of new titles coming to streaming this week, and we’ll be here each week in May to help you find something awesome to watch every day.

Jennifer Lopez confronts her mistrust of technology to battle artificial intelligence villain Harlan, played by Simu Liu, in the latest trailer for Netflix’s upcoming sci-fi movie Atlas.
In the first trailer for Atlas, Lopez’s data-driven counter-terrorism analyst Atlas Shepherd first showed her deep distrust of AI when disaster strikes. But the new trailer sees Liu introduced as the AI character Harlan, whom Atlas has long hunted and is now shown to have nearly ended humanity after first being engineered to advance it.
So to save the the future of humanity from AI, Atlas, in the latest teaser trailer, learns to trust AI. As dystopian, ground-pounding carnage dominates the trailer, Lopez rockets off to a far-off planet to capture a renegade robot and teams up with a computer program named Smith in what appears, at times, like buddy comedy.

Lifetime is known for its original 'Ripped From the Headlines' movies that retell the events that grip the nation and even the world.
If you have ever seen one, you know it can be challenging to get over the low-budget production and corny writing, but that's part of their addiction.
They tend to get filmed quickly, air quickly, and hire people looking to make a breakthrough acting debut.
However, the astonishing cases they feature are the ones that had a stranglehold over the media for their horrifying uniqueness, and the ones we recommend have some surprisingly big names.
These movies somehow come together in a way that makes them 'so bad, they're good,' just like the breeds of dogs that are 'so ugly, they're cute.'
No matter which side of the fence you may land on, here are the Lifetime movies that genuinely hit the mark.

‘Secret Invasion’ premiered last summer, receiving mixed reactions. Despite criticism for its rushed and nonsensical adaptation of a popular Marvel comic storyline, the show garnered nominations for several smaller awards. Despite the show’s flaws, the cast delivered outstanding performances, leading to Don Cheadle winning the NAACP Image Award for Best Supporting Actor in his role as James Rhodes. Rhodes’ storyline, revealing him as a Skrull, was somewhat predictable, with suspicions arising even before the show’s release.

‘Secret Invasion’ was released last summer and the reactions to it were mixed at best. The show failed to properly adapt a famous comic storyline and was widely criticized for being nonsensical and rushed. Still, this didn’t mean that the show wouldn’t be nominated for plenty of smaller awards. Despite the criticism of the show, the cast remained superb and due to that Don Cheadle in the role of James Rhodes recently won the NAACP Image Award for best supporting actor in the show.
Rhodes was part of a somehow predictable twist that he was a Skrull all along, something that was suspected even before the show was released.

It’s been over a year since Tj Holmes and Amy Robach were terminated from their jobs at ABC’s GMA3.
The two co-hosts were initially taken off the air after headlines surfaced about their secret relationship, which was happening while both were married.
In early January, the network cut ties with them amid the drama over what many deemed an affair.
Recently, Robach gave her thoughts on returning to GMA if asked, and it seemed to include her going there with Holmes.
At the very least, she said it would need to be discussed with Holmes before she made a decision like that.
Meanwhile, Holmes shared his perspective on a potential return for himself and seemed to have a stronger stance than his girlfriend.

So if you want to own a digital copy of the show, now’s your chance. One caveat: no news on whether the show will be available in Canada, with it still absent from Disney Star here north of the border, making it seem like the music rights are keeping the show from being more widely available.

When “Moonlighting” premiered on ABC on March 3, 1985, with a two-hour movie, all the ingredients for what a blockbuster the show became were in place. Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis had undeniable chemistry; the verbal dexterity was on full display; and the ingredients for what would become the show’s signature physical comedy was there in the climactic moment at the airport. No, wait, at the top of the Capitol Records building. No, no, it was at the top of the Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles. The full sequence is one of the most thrilling, vertigo-inducing action moments of any TV series then or today, as audiences are discovering now that “Moonlighting” is streaming on Hulu. Not only is the building itself gorgeous, but as reluctant new partners in a detective agency on their first case, Shepherd and Willis dangle over the edge and clamber onto a horizontal ladder directly over downtown L.

John Travolta has revealed it was his own near-death experience while flying a plane on Thanksgiving that first drew him to “The Shepherd,” the new Alfonso Cuarón-produced short film set to premiere on Disney+ this winter.
The film, which is based on Frederick Forsyth’s 1975 novella of the same name, tells the story of Freddie Hooke (played by Ben Radcliffe), a young Royal Air Force pilot flying home for Christmas across the North Sea. Shortly into the journey, his de Havilland Vampire jet suffers total electrical failure, leaving Freddie facing almost certain death. Suddenly a mysterious pilot (played by Travolta) appears in the sky, ready to guide the young man to safety.
Travolta eschewed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday evening in favor of attending the film’s intimate premiere in London, where he watched “The Shepherd” on a big screen for the first time before participating in a...

We're sad to report that actress Suzanne Shepherd has passed away at the age of 89, as confirmed by her agent and her daughter Kate Shepherd. A character actress who had roles in movies and TV stretching back to the 1980s, two of Shepherd's parts were practically the same role.
In "Goodfellas," Shepherd played the mother of Karen Hill (Lorraine Bracco). She has a short but memorable scene where she scolds her daughter for letting Henry (Ray Liotta) stay out so late and for marrying a Gentile man in the first place. When Henry finally comes home at the crack of dawn, she snaps at him and he walks off. This leads to the scene's comedic capstone, in which Tommy (Joe Pesci) mocks Karen's mother by nagging Henry in the same voice.
Many "Goodfellas" alums later showed up on "The Sopranos," including Bracco and Shepherd. Bracco, wanting to play a...

Adapted from Larry McMurtry’s bittersweet 1966 novel of the same name by McMurtry and director Peter Bogdanovich, The Last Picture Show delineates the quiet, desperate lives of the citizens of Anarene, Texas, from November 1951 to October 1952. The film is a pure Janus-headed product of the New Hollywood. Bogdanovich pours the new wine of sexual frankness available to filmmakers after the inauguration of the MPAA ratings system into old bottles borrowed from the cellars of classic Hollywood cinema, namely those older films’ expressive visual grammar and obliquely suggestive dialogue.
As an erstwhile film critic and historian, Bogdanovich drew formal and technical inspiration from his years spent programming films from Hollywood’s Golden Age at MoMA. He also solicited advice from houseguest Orson Welles when it came to shooting the film in black and white, and employing long, unbroken takes rather than break up important scenes. On Oct. 4, Sam Wineman filed a sensational lawsuit, detailing a hostile work environment on the set of the AMC-produced docuseries “Queer for Fear,” where he allegedly endured bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment, sexual assault and retaliation.
At the heart of the producer’s complaint is Wineman’s allegation that Bryan Fuller — the creator of shows like “Hannibal” and “Pushing Daisies” and a major player in the “Star Trek” franchise — sexually harassed and assaulted Wineman during production. HBO has responded to allegations arising from a wrongful termination dispute with an ex-employee that accuse Casey Bloys, the network’s then-president of original programming, of commanding a “secret army” to push back against TV critics posting tepid reviews of HBO titles. In a statement, the company did not challenge claims that Bloys and another executive directed ex-hbo executive assistant Sully Temori to post from fake accounts, with the aim of undermining high-profile critics, as well as anonymous commenters on articles.
“HBO intends to vigorously defend against Mr. Temori’s allegations,” a spokesperson said. “We are not going to comment on select exchanges between programmers and errant tweets.”
The story was first reported by Rolling Stone. It draws upon a trove of messages that will be filed in a lawsuit from Temori against HBO, Warner Media, Kathleen McCaffrey, HBO’s senior vice president of drama programming, and Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama.

Horror films have a special quality about them if done right. There can be a lot of serious socio-political issues raised in horror movies that might get too preachy and boring in a plain drama. But served within the known templates of the slasher and horror genres, it becomes entertaining and fun. The deeper ideas may not be apparent on the very first watch, but the film becomes layered, and its re-watchability increases. Dark Harvest, directed by David Slade, is a sincerely made horror film that really emphasizes the hero myth, the prejudiced behavior of people, and how easy it is to mobilize the youth through the us versus them narrative. The conflict between the individual and the collective is also thrown into the mix, but that’s all hidden beneath this world that resembles an American small town of the 1960s but is totally different in actuality.

Roy Wood Jr. said that he hasn’t counted out the possibility of becoming the Daily Show host but knows that it’s a long process and being a correspondent is too “mentally stressful” to do while also trying to “figure out what’s next for myself.”
The comedian and former Daily Show correspondent opened up more about his decision to depart the show during a Monday appearance on talk show Sherri. The conversation began with host Sherri Shepherd expressing that, “I’m really sad because everybody was rooting for you to take over as the host,” to which Wood responded, “It could still happen.”
“I just don’t want to do the work in the meantime,” he joked. “I was shocked at the decision myself because number one, we was in the strike for five months. Who you know come off strike then quit the job?”

“Moonlighting” was more than a watercooler show. It was an obsession. Episodes were taped and rewatched. And for good reason. There had never been a anything on the small screen like the 1985-89 ABC romantic screwball comedy detective series. The rapid-fire dialogue recalled such Howard Hawks’ classics as 1938’s ‘Bringing Up Baby” and 1940’ “His Girl Friday.” Fourth walls were broken. There was a black-and-white episode and even and wild and crazy take on William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.” That was just the tip of the innovations.
Creator and executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron told me in a 2000 L.A. Times interview that ABC didn’t give him total freedom when it came to the episodes: “The truth is no one let me do everything. I just did it. Ignorance is bliss. There were rules and I chose not to listen to anybody. At a certain point, the network said- ‘This is working.
