Off Broadway’s hit Sing Street, a musical adaptation of the 2016 film about a group of Dublin teens in the 1980s who form a New Wave band to escape troubled home lives and small town drudgery, will transfer to Broadway in March.

Reviews were mostly positive and generally encouraging if not full-on raves, with some critics pointing to fixable flaws like pacing while almost universally praising the lead performance by young Brenock O’Connor.

Exclusive: Two years ago, a West End staging of a new play based on Hollywood producer Robert Evans’ classic Hollywood memoir The Kid Stays In The Picture seemed all but certain for an imminent transfer to Broadway. Strong reviews, a sold-out run, rampant press rumors of a transfer, a name director in Simon McBurney, the stateside-friendly subject matter, the direct involvement of Evans himself and London’s Royal Court Theatre’s then-recent record of well-received New York transfers combined to make the Hollywood tale seem like a perfect Broadway baby.
Then, nothing.
Well, nothing but rumors, and, given the book’s troubled stage adaptation history, for understandable reason. An earlier adaptation of Evans’ memoir had spectacularly flamed out, with a prominent playwright – Jon Robin Baitz – and director – Richard Eyre – bolting from the project. Reports suggested even Evans himself was ready to walk, at one point seeming,...

Among the many visually stunning moments in Terrence Malick's "To The Wonder," there is one what will give viewers a bit of a pause -- it's the sight of a Sonic Drive-In. Yes, the fast food chain makes a quick appearance in the movie and it's a jarring reminder that the this is the first Malick movie to take place entirely in a contemporary setting, and hell, he makes it look beautiful. And whaddya know, he's gone ahead and directed an ad for the restaurant, and it's pretty shocking. Yep, Malick has sold out to the corporate powers that be and put together this spot that combines his trademark music and visuals with some tasty burgers. But really, this is obviously a joke -- it's created by Brian Carmody and it made us laugh so watch below. "To The Wonder" hits on April 12th. Bonus round: A Brad Pitt...

The Redford Theatre in Detroit announces a Three Stooges Film Festival this weekend:
The Redford Theatre is happy to present another "Three Stooges Festival" for your laughing pleasure this weekend. We've selected six of the their funniest shorts featuring Curly, Moe, and Larry, for a total of 2 hours of hilarious slapstick comedy. In "Three Little Pigskins," watch for a very young blonde Lucille Ball in one of her earliest movie roles. Note that the teams shown on the football scoreboard are actually baseball teams -- the Cubs (Chicago), and our own Tigers. It wasn't all fun and games making this film. Curly broke a leg riding down a dumbwaiter, and Larry lost a tooth to a mis-timed punch.
Two of the slapstick routines in "Three Little Beers" were deemed to be such classics that they were incorporated in the recently released "Three Stooges" movie. The Pygmalion theme of "Hoi Polloi...

Finally, a film about the late Jeff Buckley is set and ready for production. But will fans say "Hallelujah" at the top casting choice?
Smuggler Films announced late Monday that "Gossip Girl" star Penn Badgley has won the right to play the late rocker in the upcoming film, "Greetings From Tim Buckley." The movie will follow the journey Jeff Buckley took in grappling with the legacy of his late musician father, Tim, leading up to and culminating with his legendary 1991 performance of his father's songs.
Buckley, whose one proper album, "Grace," stunned audiences and made him a cult sensation, drowned in 1997 while swimming in the Wolf River of Tennessee.
Speculation had been rife over who would win the part; based on looks, some thought it might go to James Franco, while Robert Pattinson offered the brooding musician prototype that fit Buckley's public profile.

Penn Badgely has been cast as Jeff Buckley in a upcoming biopic based on the musical artist called Geetings From Tim Buckley. Buckley was a very talented musician and was a rising star, but he died at the age of 30 in 1997. It doesn't look like this is the same biopic that director Jake Scott (Welcome to the Riley's) was working on because this film was written by Dan Algrant, Emma Sheanshang and David Brendel and is being directed by Dan Algrant (People I Know, Naked in New York). So it looks like there are two Jeff Buckley biopics in the works.
