Update: Soon after this story was published, a source reached out to Variety to confirm that “Daisy Jones and the Six” will not be getting a Season 2 because “it was always planned as a limited series.”
Despite the success of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” star Riley Keough says the band isn’t getting back together anytime soon.
Despite fans hoping — and demanding — a second season of the Prime Video miniseries adaptation of Tara Jenkin Reid’s best-selling novel, Keough tells me, “I would love to but I don’t know if it’s in the cards…I haven’t heard anything.”
The series followed Daisy Jones (Keough) and her bandmates as they make their way through the Los Angeles music scene of the 1970s. The series premiered just over a year ago to positive reviews. Keough and Morrone earned Emmy nominations as did the show for outstanding limited or anthology series.

Though the tide of late has turned more towards a Bohemian Rhapsody-powered focus on biopics of musicians, there is always room for other entertainers with particularly compelling stories. One such example is Saturday Night Live staple-turned-film comedy actor Chris Farley, whose star burned bright before it was snuffed out decades too early by excess and addiction. Paul Walter Hauser is now attached to star as Farley in the film to be directed by actor/producer and now filmmaker Josh Gad.
Farley, who initially had seemed destined to join his father in the oil business, was lured away by the thrill of performing, eventually ending up at Chicago's Second City improv troupe (which he joined the same day as fellow future comedy icon Stephen Colbert) and from there was recruited by Lorne Michaels for SNL.

Here's a lesson for the kids out there: speak your dreams into existence and maybe, just maybe, they'll actually come true. Tragically, those who follow the comedy scene closely know that it's littered with high-profile examples of beloved talent who ended up burning out and leaving us far too soon. This one, however, might end up circling back to the best of silver linings.
Today's news has to do with Chris Farley, the late, great "Saturday Night Live" actor and comedian who passed away at the age of 33 back in 1997. He may not be as well-known a quantity among younger generations, but their older siblings and parents can certainly fill them in on the prolific, scene-stealing theatrics of the man who rose to prominence through "SNL" and subsequently made audiences cry with laughter in movies such as "Wayne's World" and its sequel, "Coneheads," "Airheads," and even an uncredited role in Adam Sandler's "Billy Madison.

Appearing in Marvel comics; Franklin Richards is usually depicted as a supporting character in Fantastic Four and has been portrayed as a child and as a novice superhero. The character is known to be an immensely powerful being with vast reality-manipulating and psionic powers beyond Omega-level mutants, despite not being a mutant himself.
Franklin Richards first appeared in 1968’s Fantastic Four Annual #6, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, but was given the name two years later in Fantastic Four #94 in 1970. An older version of the character didn’t appear in Marvel’s Fantastic Four until April 1996. He has remained a recurring cast member of the Fantastic Four comic book from 2007 to 2009. How did “Daisy Jones and the Six,” the 10-part Amazon Prime Video Series, come together? Executive producer Lauren Neustadter, who serves as film and television president at Hello Sunshine – the production company in which she’s partnered with Reese Witherspoon – credits her husband Scott Neustadter for finding and wanting to adapt the Taylor Jenkins Reid novel in 2019. “He read the book and fell madly in love with it,” she recalls., “and he bet on our production company . I remember he received it on Friday of that Fourth of July weekend. By the time we had dinner, he’d finished it. I stayed up well into the night reading and I remember emailing Reese and saying, ‘I know you’re on vacation, but I need you to take your iPad to the beach. By the time I woke up, she was halfway through the book and we were like, ‘We have to do this.

“Goodfellas” may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” but the Martin Scorsese crime drama served as inspiration for Nzingha Stewart, who directed four of the Amazon Prime Video series’ final five episodes. The back half of the limited series showcased the titular band at the height of its fame in the 1970s. More money meant more drugs, more problems, more messiness. It’s a far cry from the first half of the series, when the upstart group was just trying to land its big break, and showrunner Scott Neustadter encouraged Stewart to make her block completely different from the first one.

Everything We Know About The MCU’s Fantastic Four Reboot ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Marvel has been going through a rough time with their movies not doing as well as the pre-Avengers: Endgame era and Jonathan Majors getting fired for his guilty convict. Despite it all, the fandom looks forward to any use or update on the Fantastic Four reboot like any other MCU project. Pedro Pascal has been reportedly selected to play the lead role of Mr Fantastic, a.k .a. Reed Richards. Now, rumors claim that Hollywood writers Michael Weber and Scott Neustadter would work on Josh Friedman’s script before filming begins.
Marvel has been keeping things secured in case of this upcoming comic book-inspired movie. The studio has announced nothing substantial, yet here we are with every detail that we found out about the MCU movie. Keep scrolling for more.

The finalists for the 36th USC Libraries Script Awards, honoring the most accomplished films and episodic series adaptations, have been announced. Among the selected are “American Fiction,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Oppenheimer” and “Poor Things,” all top-tier contenders for Oscar attention. Ava DuVernay’s drama “Origin” was a surprise entry in the lineup, making her the second Black woman recognized by the awards body (the first was Dee Rees for 2017’s “Mudbound”).
A strong bellwether for the Oscars’ best adapted screenplay category, previous Scripter winners that have matched the Academy in the last decade include “12 Years a Slave” (2013), “The Imitation Game” (2014), “The Big Short” (2015), “Moonlight” (2016), “Call Me by Your Name” (2017), “Nomadland” (2020) and “Women Talking” (2022). Spike Lee’s “BlacKkKlansman” (2019) is the only Scripter-eligible film to win the Academy Award without being nominated by the organization.

The USC Libraries has revealed the finalists for the 36th annual USC Libraries Scripter Award, which honors the year’s best film and television adaptations, as well as the works on which they are based. This group of academics, industry professionals, and critics (for which I vote) is often predictive of the Adapted Screenplay Oscar race.
Last year, screenwriter Sarah Polley and novelist Miriam Toews won the film award for “Women Talking,” which was nominated for Best Picture and Adapted Screenplay Oscars; Polley won for Adapted at the Academy Awards. Meanwhile, the television prize last year went to English stand-up comedian and screenwriter Will Smith for the episode “Failure’s Contagious,” from “Slow Horses,” based on the novel by Mick Herron. Past winners include “Call Me By Your Name,” “Moonlight,” “The Big Short,” and “The Imitation Game,” which all won Oscars. In fact, before 2019, eight Scripter Award winners went on to win Oscars.

Sam Claflin Is ‘100%’ Open to Returning to ‘The Hunger Games’: ‘I Would Be All in for Finnick’s Dad’
Sam Claflin told Variety that he would be “100%” open to returning to “The Hunger Games” franchise.
Speaking with Marc Malkin during Variety On the Carpet, presented by Directv, Claflin opened up about his reaction to the prequel film “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and the potential for his widely beloved character Finnick to make an appearance in future “Hunger Games” projects.
Though he is willing to return to the dystopian world of Panem, Claflin fears his age might be a detriment: “I don’t know if there’s room for me to go back. I’m too old now.”
The actor did add, however, “I’ve heard rumors that people are asking for a Finnick prequel, and all I’m gonna say is that I would be all in for Finnick’s dad.”

A version of this story about “Daisy Jones & the Six” music supervisor Frankie Pine first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Drama and Limited Series issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
The music came first. Before actors were hired and before directors and designers and crew members came on board, “Daisy Jones & the Six,” the limited series from Amazon’s Prime Video, hired music supervisor Frankie Pine, who brought in a list of music producers that included songwriter-producer Blake Mills. Pine got the job, Mills got the job and the production got to work creating the rock milieu of late 1960s through late 1970s Los Angeles.
“We wanted to make sure that ‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ fit within that time period,” Pine said. “We wanted our music to stand out on its own, but we also wanted it to stay within the palette of that time. I wanted...

There’s been talk of the cast of “Daisy Jones & The Six” performing the music from the hit Prime Video series — and that talk is still going on.

“Everybody involved really wants it to [happen],” he said, noting that scheduling and logistics is the key stumbling block.

For Daisy Jones & The Six showrunner Scott Neustadter, the biggest challenge in adapting Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book about a fictional band was when he’d marry its two components: singer-songwriter Daisy Jones, played by Riley Keough, and The Six, a group fronted by addict and rocker Billy (Sam Claflin). The drama hinged on the two characters sharing as much screen time as possible, but the source material demanded they stay apart for nearly three whole episodes. As a sort of compromise, Neustadter explains, Amazon adopted an unconventional rollout to lure viewers and, as it turns out, TV Academy voters.

We talked about that at length. As the show unfolds, so do these songs, so we knew there were movements — like classical music.

Earlier this year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable. And now Nicks has taken to social media to share what she thought of the Prime series. In short, she loved it!

Novel-turned-Prime Video series Daisy Jones & the Six is about a fictional 1970s rock band, but anyone familiar with music history could guess the musical drama is based on the tumultuous career of Fleetwood Mac. Even Stevie Nicks agrees, as she has now given the show her stamp of approval.

Stevie Nicks is sharing her praise for Daisy Jones & The Six, months after the Emmy-nominated series premiered.
Though author Taylor Jenkins Reid, who wrote the book that the Prime Video series was adapted from, has previously said the novel is not strictly based on Fleetwood Mac, she has admitted that she drew inspiration from the renowned rock band. During an interview with Penguin Books UK in 2019, Reid said she “started with the germ of Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham and Fleetwood Mac,” but also researched many other ‘70s singers and bands.
Even before the show’s release, fans have been quick to point out parallels between Fleetwood Mac and Daisy Jones & The Six, including each of the band’s members and romantic pairings. Particularly, similarities were noted between Nicks and Daisy Jones (Riley Keough), as well as keyboardist Christine McVie and Karen Sirko (Suki Waterhouse). Now, Nicks has taken to...

“Making a show about sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll at the height of Covid was another challenge that we did not anticipate,” Daisy Jones & The Six executive producer Lauren Levy Neustadter said of the very real-world hurdles the Prime Video series about a fictional 1970s supergroup faced making it from the page to the screen.

Moments after Daisy Jones & The Six received nine Emmy nominations on Wednesday morning, executive producers Scott and Lauren Neustadter fielded a congratulatory phone call from Reese Witherspoon.
“She was so thrilled for everybody,” Lauren Neustadter told Deadline of Witherspoon, who produced the series through her Hello Sunshine banner. “She’s been such a part of all of this and blazes the trail that makes all of this possible. We’re very grateful for her.”
Daisy Jones & The Six is competing in the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series Or Movie category, and it also earned first-time nominations for stars Riley Keough and Camila Morrone.
Keough told Deadline she had her phone on Do Not Disturb when nominations were announced, but once she received enough phone calls to override the feature, she told Deadline she “had a feeling that something happened.”

The Best Limited Series/TV Movie Writing category has 111 submissions on the 2023 Emmys ballot, giving us six nominees this year. With the same number of nominees last year, they were “Dopesick” (“The People vs. Purdue Pharma” by Danny Strong), “The Dropout” (“I’m in a Hurry” by Elizabeth Meriwether), “Maid” (“Snaps” by Molly Smith Metzler), “Station Eleven” (“Unbroken Circle” by Patrick Somerville), “Impeachment: American Crime Story” (“Man Handled” by Sarah Burgess), and the winner “The White Lotus” (Mike White).
What makes last year interesting is that half of the shows in the category were not nominated for Best Limited Series, something that perhaps could repeat itself to a degree with this year’s potential nominees. Another thing of note is that almost all of the top contenders this year that had the option to submit multiple episodes only went with one, preventing any possibility of vote-splitting.

The honest answer for why Hello Sunshine had such a prolific TV season is the pandemic.
“The timing has a lot to do with Covid because there was this moment where everything was quiet, but we were still working, so we were driving all these different things forward,” said Lauren Levy Neustadter, President of Film & TV of the media company co-founded by actress and mogul Reese Witherspoon. “When it was safe to go back and shoot, we had all of these shows that started production, and they all came together in a very similar window.”
Now the company has entered the 2023 Emmys season with not only one Television Movie contender and two Drama Series submissions but a whopping four Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series entrants — even more than some major networks. “From Scratch” (Netflix), “Daisy Jones and the Six” (Prime Video), “Tiny Beautiful Things” (Hulu), and “The Last Thing He Told Me...

We’ve all made the “Cop Rock” jokes. The Steven Bochco musical drama, which premiered in fall 1990, was a big swing: marrying original music with procedural storytelling. It was a colossal flop that we still talk about three decades later, and a reminder that musicals are hard.
Music has been a part of the TV landscape going back to the 1950s and shows like “Your Hit Parade.” But few series have successfully integrated regular music performances into their storytelling: “The Monkees” and “The Partridge Family” worked in the 1960s and ’70s. “Fame” did it in the early ’80s. And then “Cop Rock” scared people off the concept.
The 1990s animation boom incorporated music in shows like “The Simpsons” and “Animaniacs.” But not until the 21st century did scripted series really figure out how to make musical numbers work as part of the narrative. “Flight of the Conchords” did it with satiric tracks,...
