Kim Coates, best known for playing Alexander “Tig” Trager in the FX series Sons of Anarchy, is set to star alongside Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. As first reported by Deadline, Coates will join the Season 2 cast in a heavily recurring role. He will play Bruegel, the leader of one of the fiercest gangs in New York City, who is more manipulative and intelligent than we might have assumed. Dead City debuted on June 18, 2023, and is the first sequel to AMC’s The Walking Dead. It follows Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) as they travel to a post-apocalyptic Manhattan searching for Maggie’s kidnapped son, Hershel. The crumbling city is home to the dead and denizens who have made NYC their own world of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror. In addition to Cohan and Morgan, the series stars Gaius Charles as Perlie Armstrong,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 17, “Consciousness of Guilt.”] Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and Higgins (Perdita Weeks) spend the latest Magnum P.I. episode apart after a conversation with Rick (Zachary Knighton) and Tc (Stephen Hill) prompts them to wonder: Are they spending too much time together? Rick remarks that ever since he moved in with Suzy (Elizabeth Knighton) and Joy, starting and ending each day together is the best. “After we put Joy to sleep, our favorite thing to do is to sit and just talk and tell stories about all the things we missed when we were apart,” Rick says. Tc echoes those sentiments about life since he and Mahina (Emily Alabi) got back together: “We’ve been loving catching up, too.” That leads Higgins to wonder if she and Magnum spend too much time together, and she promises him it’s not a test. As he sees it, “We spend...

Are Thomas and Juliet better together or apart?
That relationship quandary was at the heart of Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 17, and it made for a couple of entertaining cases, one comedic, one dramatic.
Higgins had no one but herself to blame for what was to transpire.
On yet another day beginning at La Mariana, Rick and T.C. were fawning like schoolgirls over their rekindled romances with Suzy and Mahina, respectively.
This set Juliet to pondering: Did she and Thomas spend too much time together?
This is a question with which couples who work and live together must navigate, so it's relevant to many viewers.
Magnum correctly saw Higgins' query as a trap. Fortunately, circumstances quickly gave him an out, as the work partners had two cases with which to deal.
Juliet should have been careful what she wished for, as she ended up with Jin.
For once, Jin...

It wasn't Juliet's finest moment on Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 14.
For the better part of five seasons, Higgins has been dishing out that condescension for which the British are renowned.
But for part of one day, the shoe was on the other foot after she flunked her private investigator license renewal test, which Thomas somehow passed.
Now that Juliet has become his partner in all ways, Magnum knew enough to keep his gloating to a minimum. He knew it was an "even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while" situation.
Higgins kept calm and carried on, pitching in unofficially however she could while Thomas and Rick raced to clear one of Rick's regulars who had been charged with murder.
It was enjoyable to see Rick coming to the fore from his usual behind-the-scenes fixer role, although it too often felt like Magnum taking part in...

Wasn't it fun to watch Magnum and Higgins switch places, if only briefly?
Still, Juliet found a way to help Thomas and Rick solve a complicated case on Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 14.
It was great to see Rick step to the forefront after spending much of the past three episodes more in the background.
It was only fair that Rick stepped up in Higgins' absence since the client was one of his regulars accused of a crime he hadn't committed.
This is analogous to Kumu pitching in when her friend Ying got ripped off by a scammer on Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 12.
It was ridiculous that a licensing issue would sideline Juliet. Wouldn't you think dealing with paperwork would have been among her duties?
They had a good reason for being late, doing a skip trace to save their client from forfeiting her bail money. Jamie, the examiner, should have...

Tc (Stephen Hill) may not have been ready to see anyone while he was recovering after being shot — he didn’t even tell his mother what happened — but it’s time, on Magnum P.I., for him to deal with the consequences of that. On the list of people he wants to see now that he’s out of the rehab facility is Mahina (Emily Alabi), and TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek of just that in the October 25 episode. With encouragement from Sham (Christopher Thornton) and armed with flowers (which he worries isn’t enough), Tc approaches Mahina at work. When she asks what he’s doing there, “I came to bring you flowers,” he says, then acknowledges he should’ve given her a heads up. “I just wanted to know if you had some time to talk.” But “now you want to talk?” she asks. “I’ve been...

Gordon Katsumoto was the star of Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 13.
Not only did an undercover Gordie help Magnum and Higgins locate a missing chef and shut down a robbery ring, but he also got to indulge his cooking hobby as a chef at a high-end restaurant.
Even better, he participated in creating a thank-you dinner with Konoa, the recovered executive chef, for Thomas and Juliet.
It's always great when a supporting character such as Katsumoto gains added depth through a spotlight episode such as that.
It showed there's more to him than the dour detective who often rags on the two P.I.s for their borderline illegal practices.
So what are Magnum and Higgins up to on Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 14?
According to the logline supplied by NBC, "Magnum and Rick race to find a missing witness who can exonerate an innocent man accused of murder."
That brings up a couple of questions.

Regarding the return of Magnum P.I., it's a good news-bad news situation for fans.
Let's go with the good news first. Unlike many scripted programs, the second half of the NBC series' fifth season will return on Oct. 4, earlier than was previously announced.
The bad news is that these episodes are likely the end for the Magnum reboot. After saving the show following its cancellation by CBS, NBC managed to run it into the ground before canceling it yet again. Yup, it's been that kind of season for Magnum.
Here's everything we know about the probable Magnum final ride.
Has Magnum P.I. been renewed?
No, sadly, just the opposite. It's been a roller-coaster couple of years for those involved with Magnum.
For four seasons, the Jay Hernandez-starrer was a pretty sturdy performer for CBS. Granted, ratings expectations for Friday prime-time are a fairly low bar.

Stephen Hill is happy to be soaring in the skies above Oahu again.
That’s a bit of an exaggeration as Hill’s character, Theodore Calvin, is a chopper pilot on the NBC drama Magnum P.I.
But recently, he found himself up in the air as CBS canceled the series after four seasons, only to have NBC scoop it up about six weeks later.
In an exclusive interview, the cordial Hill said that he never doubted that the tales of T.C. and the rest of the Magnum gang would continue.
“There was something in me that felt so unfinished with this project and this character,” Hill recalled. “It felt unnatural not to be working on it. I also knew they were working on bringing it back behind the scenes. The fact they were even working on it gave us hope from the very beginning.”
And when word of the pick-up came down,...

It's about time T.C. received another piece of good news in his personal life.
The surprise that was sprung on him on Magnum P.I. Season 5 Episode 7 qualified as good news, right?
Maybe that's still up in the air as he and his mother Verna have a lot of missed time to make up for.
Since the series began, T.C. has always had to be the adult among the former military teammates, bailing out Rick and Thomas time after time.
It's a wonder that he's been able to keep Island Hoppers afloat with all the time he's invested into those two and their problems/businesses.
Over the seasons, T.C. has built a life for himself outside of his chopper business and caring for his former squadmates.
He's taken in surrogate son Cade, forming a family. Also, he reconnected with firefighter Mahina, and their relationship also appears to be going strong.
