Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Spooky Pictures recently teamed up to produce the horror film Late Night With the Devil, headed up by the Australian writing and directing duo of Colin and Cameron Cairnes (100 Bloody Acres) and starring David Dastmalchian – whose previous credits include The Boogeyman and The Suicide Squad. IFC Films and Shudder have snatched up rights to hot AFM horror title Late Night with the Devil, taking the film for North America, U.K. and Ireland in a deal with Cinetic Media.
IFC said it plans to release the film exclusively in theaters, with a later streaming window on Shudder.
Directed by Australian filmmaking brothers Cameron and Colin Cairnes (100 Bloody Acres, Scare Campaign), Late Night With the Devil evokes the spirit and style of 1970s horror classics like The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby. It tells the story of the charismatic but ratings-challenged late night talk show host Jack Delroy (Suicide Squad star David Dastmalchian), who stages a demon-evoking seance on live TV and unexpectedly unleashes evil into the nation’s living rooms.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
Horror movies might be snubbed by snobs and ignored by the Oscars, but they've never gone out of fashion for one simple reason: horror makes money. Other genres, from westerns to rom-coms, have risen and fallen at the box office, but horror is the true final girl of cinema. That's a lesson that Blumhouse Productions founder Jason Blum took to heart after "Paranormal Activity" became the most profitable horror movie of all time, building his studio up around a model of producing low-budget horror movies with massive returns at the box office.

The open road is a terrifying place for a young woman in the first look at “Strange Darling,” a horror-thriller from director J.T. Mollner set to premiere at this week’s Fantastic Fest.
Described as “one day in the twisted love life of a serial killer,” the project stars Willa Fitzgerald (Amazon’s “Reacher”) and Kyle Gallner. Fitzgerald, known only in the film as “The Lady,” barrels down a highway in a red Ford Pinto in a clip exclusive to Variety, escaping Gallner’s mad pursuit. After shooting out her back windshield and trying to mow her down with a pickup truck, the cat-and-mouse game moves on foot through the wilderness.
“This film was a sort of dream (or nightmare) that I was compelled to bring to life. So much about it – the colors, the music, the overall visual aesthetic, and the characters were all so clear before we even shot anything.

All four films in the Insidious franchise to this point have been rated PG-13, and the upcoming fifth film isn’t going to shake things up. The Motion Picture Association has announced that their ratings board has given Insidious: The Red Door – which is set to reach theatres on July 7th – a PG-13 rating for “violence, terror, frightening images, strong language and suggestive references“. And this rating comes along just in time for tickets to go on sale, as they’re now available on sites like Fandango.
