Marvel Animation announced today at New York Comic Con, an all-new animated series called Marvel’s Spider-Man will be premiering on Disney Xd in 2017. Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man will culminate in January 2017 with an exciting two-part finale arc “Graduation Day” that will see Spider-Man stop Doctor Octopus and the Superior Sinister Six from destroying all of the heroes in New York City.
The new series, Marvel's Spider-Man, tells the story of an unsure (but courageous) teen who has to figure out how to be a Super Hero from the very beginning. Produced by Marvel Animation, the series' award-winning creative team includes executive producers Alan Fine ("Marvel's The Avengers," "Iron Man," "Thor"), Dan Buckley ("Marvel's Avengers Assemble," "Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H."), Joe Quesada ("Marvel's Avengers Assemble") and Jeph Loeb ("Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."); co-executive producers Stan Lee ("Spider-Man"), Eric Radomski ("Spawn," "Marvel's Avengers Assemble"), Cort Lane ("Marvel...

Seeking to take advantage of tax breaks in France, Marvel has commissioned two animated short series for Ant-Man and Rocket Raccoon & Groot. No official word yet but it's likely these shorts will debut as part of the Disney Xd's Marvel Universe programming block that already includes Marvel's Avengers Assemble, Guardians of the Galaxy and Ultimate Spider-Man. French directors Ugo Bienvenu and Kevin Manach will team to tackle Ant-Man while Arnaud Delord will handle the Rocket & Groot shorts. What's your take on these kinds of projects. A while back, Cartoon Network did something similar with its DC Nation Shorts. Eventually, this type of programming could be used to highlight some lesser known characters in the Marvel catalog. ...

On the eve of its 40th anniversary special (though the anniversary itself isn't until October), what is left to say about "Saturday Night Live"? There have been multiple books written about the show, several documentaries, countless essays — riding the never-ending roller-coaster between "Saturday Night Dead" and "Saturday Night Lives Again!" — best-ofs, worst-ofs, and every other kind of list you can think of. I don't know that anything I write over the next few pages will provide new insight into one of the most influential comedy shows ever made, but I wondered if you could tell the story of the show — through good times and bad, through revolutions and evolutions and retrenchments — by looking at its sketches. I wound up picking 21 in all: some among the show's most famous, some obscure but important. These aren't meant as a definitive breakdown of the best "SNL" ever had to offer, but as a...

On Nickelodeon's new animated series Breadwinners, best friends SwaySway and Buhdeuce are ducks that deliver loaves of unusual bread out of their Rocket Van. Creators Steve Borst and Gary "Doodles" Di Raffaele (Mad) came up with the idea behind the carb-loving waterfowl as part of the kids network's new Animation Shorts Program, created to incubate new creator-generated cartoons that could then be turned into series. Nickelodeon liked what it saw and fast-tracked 20 episodes of Breadwinners, which premieres Monday, Feb. 17 at 7:30/6:30c. (The show then moves to Saturdays at 11 a.m./10c starting Feb. 22.) Borst and Raffaele answered our showrunner survey to explain why Breadwinners is the greatest thing since sliced... well, you know.

The teen flaunted her fashion sense as she strutted her stuff on the red carpet. Did you like her fun and flirty look?
AnnaSophia Robb has outdone herself yet again! It looks like her role in The Carrie Diaries as a fashion connoisseur has converged into her personal and professional style. It’s clear that the 20-year-old has a keen eye for trendy looks and elegant taste, and that’s exactly what she showed off at The Way, Way Back premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 23.
AnnaSophia Robb ‘The Way, Way Back’ Premiere Dress:
The teen opted for a youthful, age-appropriate Red Valentino floral dress from the Fall 2013 collection. This classy, grey dress fell right above her knee and had a mature, clean bateau neckline. The sleeveless number was covered in small, black polka-dots, an up-and-coming trend in fashion design.

After much speculation, it seems that we now know the identity of Marvel's secret film that's been long targeted for a May 2014 release. And it's not "Ant-Man," or "Black Panther," or "Runaways," or "Doctor Strange." It's "Guardians Of The Galaxy," the cosmic adventure that was a favorite in the 1970s before being revived recently.
Originally, the Guardians were a group of superpowered individuals from an alternate timeline in the 31st century, including human astronaut Vance Astro, humanoid crystal Martinex T'Naga, soldier from Jupiter Charlie-27, and Yonda Udonta, a savage from Beta Centurai. The team (whose lineup would have other shifts), battled a number of adversaries, including alien race the Badoon, and teamed up with The Avengers before the series was cancelled in the 1990s. A more recent 2008 update relaunched the property with a new lineup, including long-time characters like Star-Lord, Adam Warlock, Gamora and Quasar, and it's been suggested that...

Here we are again, Gossip Girl fashion lovers. Quite a bit of time has passed and we’re all still reeling from the show's heart wrenching, edge-of-the-seat, jaw-dropper of a midseason finale.
As we count down the days until we see what has really become of our favorite dark, twisty, star-crossed, well-dressed lovers, we decided to walk down memory lane - a stylish lane, if you will.
While the past year has seen Blair Waldorf as an editrix at a fashion publication, randomly kissing Dan Humphrey, engaged to a prince, knocked up, and somehow always sneaking a few minutes in with her dark knight, she’s looked pretty fantastic through and through.
Here’s a look at the best of our chocolate haired, brown eyed Queen B in 2011:

Chicago – We’ve seen a lot of overly stylized films based on video games and comic books but rarely has there been a movie more derivative of other mediums yet not actually based on one than Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch,” a movie loathed by dozens of major critics (and defended by our very own Patrick McDonald) and recently released on Blu-ray and DVD in a 17-minute longer extended cut.
Blu-ray Rating: 1.5/5.0
Synopsis: “Born from the creative vision of filmmaker Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), this epic action fantasy launches from the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Locked away against her will, Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive. Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four fellow captives — outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and reluctant Sweet Pea...

Sucker Punch was one of my most anticipated movies this year, and as much as I enjoyed watching the action sequences in the film, it ultimately ended up being a disappointment. Warner Bros. has announced that they will be releasing an extended R-rated directors cut of the film. I'm not sure if that will make it any better, putting more blood and gore into the film wont help that terrible script that Snyder wrote. It will feature 18 extra minutes; hopefully of action and not dialogue. The Blu-ray will also include the Animated Shorts: Sucker Punch Prequel Stories feature, a maximum movie mode hosted by director Zack Snyder, and a digital copy of the film.
I wish I could be more excited about this, but I think I've seen all I wanted to see from this movie. What do you think? Will you be picking up a copy?

A successful animated feature film that doesn’t include the names Pixar, Disney or even Dreamworks could well be considered the rarest of things, but Universal seem to have proved a few people wrong with their first solo forray into the medium. But let’s be honest- the Pixar benchmark is about as unreachable a goal as any film company could aspire to, let alone someone making their first steps. It is far more appropriate (and kind) to compare Universal’s premier animated feature to the still-very-good work of Sony on Monster House (an absolute gem).
And set against that other impressive animated debut, Despicable Me- available now on Blu-ray – shines just as brightly.
Despite professing to be a new take on the villain/hero story, Despicable Me is in fact very conventionally told. The story unfolds pretty typically, and the “twist” isn’t exactly completely out of the...
