Netflix kicked off February with news of the streaming service’s 2024 film slate.
The steamer, which landed 18 Oscar nominations this year – including seven for Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro” – will debut numerous populist films in 2024, including new projects from Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry, Jenifer Lopez, Millie Bobby Brown, Eddie Murphy, and more.
Well-known directors with movies set to premiere on Netflix this year include Tyler Perry (two titles), McG, Richard Linklater, and Lee Daniels. Comedian Jerry Seinfeld will also make his directorial debut with “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story.”
On the awards front, while it’s too early to tell which projects might pop – and what movies Netflix might acquire for release this year, similarly to how the studio purchased Todd Haynes’ “May December” at the Cannes Film Festival last year – titles to flag include “The Piano Lesson” from Malcolm Washington with Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington,...

Just a few days after the all-star voice cast for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was revealed, the first trailer for the upcoming CGI-animated reboot has arrived. Coming from producer and “permanent teenager” Seth Rogen, the latest adventure looks to take a unique direction with the iconic heroes in a half-shell.
The new preview immediately reveals an animation style owing more than a little to the Spider-Verse series from Sony, though with less of a pop-art feel and more of a gritty NYC vibe. As soon as the Turtles themselves speak, you’ll also notice that these rambunctious reptiles appear much younger than fans may be used to; while the ’90s and Michael Bay-led live-action Tmnt tales arguably show us 16-19-year-old turtles, Mutant Mayhem seems to be focusing on a burgeoning group of heroes who likely don’t have their driver licenses.

No matter if your screen is big or small, you just can't keep the heroes in a half-shell off of it. Following the release of the new logo on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle's Instagram account, the trailer for the new movie, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" has arrived.
The film is directed by Jeff Rowe, co-writer of "The Mitchells vs The Machines" and several episodes of "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment." The film is produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg; as children of the 1980s, the pair would have grown up at the height of Turtle-mania.
Rogen has said the film will be "deeply personal," and highlight the "teenage" part of these heroes. The script is credited to Brendan O'Brien, who co-wrote the 2014 Rogen comedy vehicle "Neighbors." This isn't Rogen's first foray into animation — he was a writer and producer on 2016's "Sausage Party" — but I imagine that...

Updated with release date: The CG movie reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which Deadline scooped last year (see the story below) was coming from Nickelodeon and Point Grey Pictures, now has a release date. The pic being directed by Gravity Falls‘ Jeff Rowe will hit theaters August 11, 2023.
Seth Rogen, who is producing with his Point Grey partners Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, unveiled the date Tuesday in a Twitter post, along with some “notes” from Leonardo, one of the four shelled heroes at the center of the kids franchise.
There were no other details provided aside from some doodling in the margins of the notes, which featured words like honor, loyalty and discipline which are staples of the Turtles mythology. There’s also a note to “apologize to April,” a nod to the journalist who helps the quartet fight crime.

It seems that not a lot of people have actually gone out of their way to go and see Robert Downey Jr.’s Dolittle, based on the fact that the would-be blockbuster has still failed to crack $100 million at the global box office after more than two weeks in theaters. That being said, plenty of folks have nonetheless heard the countless tales of disaster surrounding Rdj’s first post-mcu outing, including the extensive and costly reshoots that drove the budget up to $175 million in an ultimately failed attempt to try and salvage the movie, which is already poised to go down as the biggest dud of 2020.
Dolittle looks like it’ll find its way into Hollywood folklore as one of those fascinatingly misguided, vanity-driven failures alongside the likes of Battlefield Earth and Cats, with the behind-the-scenes turmoil enduring for much longer than anything that actually happened onscreen. 2017-06-30T06:35:44-07:00'The House' Appears Headed for a Rough Weekend
A couple of desperate, super-square parents embrace their inner badass in The House, turning a friend's abode into a full-service casino to raise around 500 grand in a few weeks. Sound unlikely? You don't know the half of it. Having penned two surprisingly funny parents-gone-wild hits with writing partner Brendan O'Brien (Neighbors and its sequel), Andrew Jay Cohen makes his directing debut with this variation on the theme. But the third time is anything but charmed for this luckless effort, which is unlikely to return even close to what producers expected when they teamed Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler with the successful screenwriters.
It's telling that Warner Bros. is sneaking this release out sans critics' screenings despite its well-liked stars: This House will likely collapse under its word-of-mouth burden.

Never mind the trailers - not even the title of Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates is representative of the movie to which it has been assigned. A better title would have been Wedding Crashers, which could be why the 2005 movie of the same name comes in for so much flak for its ridiculousness during one of the big scenes. Either way, you're not prepared for how Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza play for top billing from the very first moment they appear.
To be clear: Mike (Adam Devine) and Dave (Zac Efron) most definitely need wedding dates. Tired of their thoughtless partying ruining family get-togethers, the two brothers' long-suffering parents (Stephen Root and Stephanie Faracy) decree that they must find themselves a pair of nice girls to bring to their sister's wedding in Hawaii.

"Neighbors" was a surprise hit when it debuted last year, and now, the cast for its sequel is starting to take shape.

"Neighbors 2" will mark a rare foray into comedy in Moretz's already-impressive career. Perhaps this is a turning point for the young actress? What's worse than living next door to a frat led by Zac Efron? Living next door to a sorority, apparently. In "Neighbors 2," Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne will reprise their roles from "Neighbors" as harried suburbanites Mac and Kelly Radner, but instead of fighting with Teddy (Efron) and his host of bros as in the first movies, they get the frat brothers to help them put the kibosh on their new neighbors' sisterly shenanigans.
Writers Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O'Brien and director Nicholas Stoller will also return, because why not? The first "Neighbors" was unique in that it was an original property (i.e. not based on a comic book, toy, franchise, etc.) that still made buckets of money. And, it looked really fun to make. The writing and producing duo of Andrew Jay Cohen & Brendan O'Brien delivered one hell of a great comedy this past summer with Neighbors, starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron. Now the two are poised to make their feature film directorial debut with a horror comedy called Thrill Ride. This time, Cohen and O'Brien didn't write the script, with Peter Warren (who will also produce the film) working on the pages, and this sounds like a really cool idea. Described as being in the same vein as Scream and This is The End, the story takes place at a theme park where students from a nearby high school start dying elaborately. Deadline says the film begins at a cruel high school where bullying is just something that gets ignored. The seniors are planning their annual party night by renting out an amusement park for the class, and that's where they all...
