Hours before another Brooklyn Nets loss on Thursday, noted “free-thinker” and basketball player Kyrie Irving took to Twitter to boost a movie and book, Hebrews to Negroes, stuffed with antisemitic tropes.
The 2018 film was directed by Ronald Dalton, Jr., and based upon his 2015 book of the same name. A description for the film states that it “uncovers the true identity of the Children of Israel,” while a similar one for the book reads, “Since the European and Arab slave traders stepped foot into Africa, blacks have been told lies about their heritage.

Toy Fair is an annual trade show where hundreds of toy companies get together to showcase their latest innovations for buyers and press. Founded in 1903, there is some serious history behind this show, which takes place every February at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Unlike Comic Con and similar pop culture events, the public is not allowed to attend. This meant that instead of a claustrophobic mess of fans and cosplayers, the completely manageable crowd was mostly comprised of well-dressed business people, the occasional company mascots and seemingly omnipresent Power Rangers promoting Bandai.
While I hoped to pick up a few “samples” of cool collectibles during my trip, I left with nothing in my backpack aside from some business cards and product catalogues. However, there were quite a few hands-on displays to test out products and it is pretty spectacular seeing adults in business attire playing with preschool toys.

Hillary Clinton supporters are growing nervous as votes pour in for Donald Trump on Election Night.
Despite a palpable buzz in the air at the start of the evening, the crowd grew quiet as the swing states of North Carolina and Florida went to the Republican presidential nominee. Michigan, New Hampshire and Wisconsin all look as though they could swing for Trump, as well.
“I feel nauseous,” one top campaign official for Clinton told People before slipping behind a black curtain beyond which reporters were barred.

Hillary Clinton's built herself quite the wall at The Peninsula hotel -- where cops are decked in full armor and trucks are lined up to thwart any attack. Hillary's watching the election results from The Peninsula and then heading over to the Jacob Javits Center for the victory bash before reportedly heading back to the hotel for the after-party. Check out the pics ... a similar strategy's been used like the one executed at Trump Tower.

The structure is an 840,000 square foot venue that sits on the Hudson River and has hosted numerous events. It’s most striking aspect is that most of it is made of glass.

As my fellow opiners Ed Catto and John Ostrander have, uh, well, opined on these pages, this year marks the 50th anniversary of Star Trek. You would think that there would be a lot more hoopla about it, but even though CBS has announced the premiere of a new St show and even though, as Ed reminds us, the United States Post Office is issuing a special commemorative stamp – which I am absolutely positively buying – it’s been amazingly quiet on the P.R. front, especially when you consider that the franchise is legendary not only here, but around this world.
Consider, if you will, the build-up to the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who in 2013. Not only was there a reminder of the looming date on BBCAmerica seemingly every single commercial break, but any little bit of news – rumors – was all over the Internet, on television, on radio, and in the newspapers.

NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment wrapped up TV upfront week from New York City’s spacious Jacob Javits Center. The space was a simple-but-cool environment for media buyers and reporters to bid farewell to the May madness. A ton of stars from both scripted and reality shows made dramatic entrances on the trademark E! red carpet, but far fewer hit the stage to plug their content. Interesting... he's just about the same size as he appeared in the show! This miniature bobble head comes from the memorable "The Invaders" episode of "The Twilight Zone" that starred Agnes Moorhead.
It presents the Invader, a "tiny being from the tiny place called Earth," in resin at 4-1/2-inch scale and features a non-damaging adhesive pad that sticks him to your computer monitor. Won't you take him home?

ComicCon has evolved from just a comic book convention to all things geek and then some. At this weekend’s event at New York’s Jacob Javits Center, attendants were immersed in a multitude of alterna-verses from Marvel and DC to Westeros and Bon Temps. ComicCon was a great place to let your freak flag fly, emulating your favorite characters from Dr Who to Venom, Heisenberg to Sailor Moon, Michonne to Korra. The Mayuri Kurotsuchi’s made me yearn for my blue hair days. Though ComicCon doesn't speak to the traditional Black cool like maybe Summer Jam might, the crowd was a motley mix of faces, many of them painted and some of them painted Black in tandem with their costumes. While...

“There has been some discussion lately of the likeability of female characters,” said editor Anna DeVries in the thick of yesterday afternoon’s “Buzz Panel” at Book Expo America, the book industry’s annual convention. Taking place a day before the Jacob Javits Center floor opens to authors, publishing-house reps, and bookstore owners from across the country, Bea’s Buzz Panel features six selected editors who each flog their most promising product. While it’s typically the fair’s best-attended panel, I’ve previously found it to be a hodgepodge affair, spanning fiction and non-, great and derivative. This year was different: overwhelmingly female (five of the six writers, all six editors), unrelentingly bleak (genocide, strokes, Calvino-esque alienation), and consistently enthralling. But first, about likeability: It was recently invoked by the novelist Claire Messud — who took offense when an interviewer said that she “wouldn’t want to be friends” with...

This brunette beauty looked sweet and chic when she pulled out a perfect spring look! Do you like her feminine frock as much as we do?
We’re so used to seeing Shameless star Emmy Rossum in sexy, cleavage-bearing ensembles that this conservative look took us by surprise. We approve of the new look on the 26-year-old actress. Emmy attended the Lucky Guy Broadway Opening Night on Apr. 1 donning a lovely Temperley London frock from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection.
Emmy Rossum ‘Lucky Guy’ Premiere Dress:
The ‘Tile Print Crew Neck Dress’ brought out a youthful side of Emmy that we rarely get to see in the spotlight. The feminine dress featured a light blue pattern that looked timeless on the young beauty. A fitted top accentuated her tiny waist, while the flowing skirt fell at her knees for a classic touch. Emmy stuck with minimal jewelry and makeup to go...

This past weekend the crowds at New York Comic Con got their first look at the upcoming remake of Stephen King's Carrie, but now the first teaser trailer for the new horror film has made its way online courtesy of Yahoo! Our own Kristy Puchko was in the Jacob Javits Center this past weekend when director Kimberley Peirce, Chloe Moretz and Julianne Moore took to the stage to talk about their new film. You can read all about what she saw and heard by clicking on this link. Personally, I like the part where they are talking about all the blood used in the movie and how Moretz would just walk back to her hotel room covered in red goo. Probably a weird thing to see at the end of the day for both the guests and the management. It's also kind of amazing nobody snapped a photo of that...

New York -- Comic book enthusiasts, writers, illustrators, celebrities and some 115,000 attendees gathered this weekend in New York City for the seventh annual, sold-out New York Comic Con. There was, however, no mistaking the fact that a large draw to the event was a panel of celebrities from AMC's popular post-apocalyptic show, "The Walking Dead."
The 3,000-seat IGN Theater at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center was jam-packed with zombie-loving fans -- including some who waited nearly eight hours for a chance to get inside.
AMC's Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick moderated the event. Joining Hardwick on stage was "The Walking Dead" comic creator Robert Kirkman, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd and stars Andrew Lincoln (who plays Rick Grimes), Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), Danai Gurira (Michonne), David Morrissey (The Governor) and Michael Rooker (Merle Dixon).
Hardwick kicked the event off with a clip from Sunday's third season premiere of the horror-drama.

The seventh New York Comic-Con and Anime Convention took place over the past weekend, (Oct. 11th-14th) giving fans of comic books, films, TV, video games, books and anime a full weekend of events. There was something there to entertain even the most hard-to-please fan.
Sold out weeks in advance, this year's NY Comic-Con drew 115,000 attendees, according to the NY Daily News. Held once again at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan, the popular annual event filled the large convention center. From the upper floor to the basement level, the place was jammed full of fans, all gathered to enjoy the four-day mass-media celebration.
A large portion of the attendees came in costume. More women than men were attired in 'cosplay' but at least half the people who came were dressed for the event. Among the women, Catwoman outfits seemed to be the most popular this year. Wonder Woman...

This weekend in New York City it's all about New York Comic-Con, which is held annually at the Jacob Javits Center and comes stuffed with everything you expect to see at a comic convention: people in crazy costumes, lots of nerdy panels and a plethora of new toys and gadgets to play with. Unlike San Diego Comic-Con, which usually attracts many of the big upcoming blockbusters, New York Comic-Con seems to like the genre fare. Though some Iron Man 3 footage debuted this morning, the big panels this year are all a bit horror-ish (fitting for the month we're in), and include stuff like Beautiful Creatures, The Evil Dead, Carrie, The Conjuring and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. What's cool about the panels this year is that for the first time New York Comic-Con will be live...

The east coast edition of Comic-Con is catching up to its San Diego fellow, so you'll need some help knowing what to see
When it comes to Comic-Con, San Diego may have the Hollywood glitz and glamour, but New York is home to Marvel and DC – as well as Peter Parker, Stark Tower, the Ghostbusters, Men in Black and more than a few of the X-Men. And what city got saved at the end of this summer's Avengers? Well, it wasn't San Diego, that's for sure.
New York Comic-Con, taking place this weekend at the city's Jacob Javits Center, is the second biggest pop culture convention in the Us, behind San Diego's, and continues to grow towards San Diego-sized proportions each year. Last year's events attracted more than 105,000 guests, and the New York convention roster boasts an impressive list of geek icons (many of whom, ahem, San Diego, call New...
