USA rolled out a pretty hefty list of new dramas in development at its upfront on Thursday (May 16) to go along with the two original comedies it's picked up.
The cable channel says it's ready to start production on "Horizon," a drama from "The Walking Dead" executive producer Gale Anne Hurd that's set in World War II. But I bet it will spark solid interest given the heat that the revamp of another 1970s action procedural, CBS' new series Hawaii Five-0, has been garnering going into fall. Wbtv first tried mounting a remake of CHiPs 8 years ago with Doug Liman and Dave Bartis producing. The project, which didn't go to pilot, was set up at NBC, with two scripts developed, one by Natalie Chaidez, and another by Martin Kunert and Eric Manes. Warner Bros, which owns...

Remember the lawsuit that former SAG president Alan Rosenberg and three other Membership First members (1st VP Anne-Marie Johnson and board members Diane Ladd and Kent McCord) filed against their own union?
No? You may have blissfully forgotten this misbegotten legal action, filed a year and a half ago (!), but the courts haven’t. As reported a few days ago, things aren't looking good for CBS's crime procedural Numb3rs. The number of episodes for the sixth season was cut down from twenty-two to sixteen, a sure sign that things aren't looking good for any show, despite Numb3rs' relatively good ratings and viewership. Co-creator Cheryl Heuton addressed these fears, telling audiences that the writers of the show are indeed planning for the sixteenth episode of the sixth season to serve as a series finale.
“We will be doing a 16th episode that wraps up storylines and answers questions,” Heuton told Entertainment Weekly. “It will be designed to stand as a finale, but it won’t create story situations that would hamper us if the network should decide to order more episodes.” The episode “will give fans what they’ve been waiting for… We’re looking to feature all our characters and give good moments...

CBS' decision cut Numb3rs' episode count from 22 to 16 is the clearest sign yet that the CBS procedural's current sixth season will likely be its last. That's the bad news. The good news is that the network gave producers enough notice to plan for a possible series finale. "We will be doing a 16th episode that wraps up storylines and answers questions," reveals the show's co-creator Cheryl Heuton. "It will be designed to stand as a finale, but it won't create story situations that would hamper us if the network should decide to order more episodes." Heuton says she's confident...
