Netflix’s I Am Not Okay with This stars It’s Sophia Lillis as an angsty teen who discovers that she has telekinetic powers.
I Am Not Okay with This may sound like a contemporary PSA shown in a mandatory Hr meeting, but it’s actually a teen-aimed Netflix television series adapting a graphic novel from Charles Forsman, the writer behind the comic source material for the streaming giant’s subversive coming-of-age series, The End of the F***ing World.
Sophia Lillis continues to parlay momentum from It and It Chapter Two, starring here as Sydney, a 15-year-old who’s already dealing with a lot of issues – grief over her war casualty father, hormonal crises and a case of body image dysmorphia – when her problems exponentially increase to supernatural levels upon the discovery that she possesses telekinetic powers; the thing is, she can’t quite control said powers,...

Howard Hawk's prelapsarian rom-com, Fig Leaves (1926)Along with the output of Universal, the films of Fox, before the merger with Twentieth Century, have long been among the more mysterious and hard-to-see products of Golden Age Hollywood. When TCM made Warners' pre-Codes readily available to American eyes, these competing studios' outputs remained shut in some vault, unrestored and unavailable. Well, the Museum of Modern Art has liberated some fantastic early Universal films, and now it's the turn of William Fox's lost masterworks to see the light of the projector beam once more in MoMA's "William Fox Presents: Restorations and Rediscoveries from the Fox Film Corporation," May 18 - June 5, 2018.The season showcases little-seen films by John Ford, F.W. "What if you woke up in another world." Yeah, what if?! MarVista Entertainment has revealed an official trailer for an indie thriller titled Sleepwalker, described as a "Twilight Zone-esque" story about a woman troubled by bouts of sleepwalking and disturbing nightmares. Ahna O'Reilly stars as Sarah, a graduate student, who wakes up in a slightly different version of her world every time she sleepwalks. With the help of sleep researcher Scott White, she tries to work her way back to the reality she started in. The cast includes Richard Armitage (from The Hobbit!), Haley Joel Osment (from A.I.!), Izabella Scorupco, Kevin Zegers, and Rachel Melvin. This doesn't look that great, especially with that Flatliners remake this year. Here's the official trailer (+ two posters) for Elliott Lester's Sleepwalker, direct from YouTube: Troubled by bouts of sleepwalking and disturbing nightmares, graduate student Sarah Foster (Ahna O'Reilly) goes to her university sleep research center for help.

Elliott Lester’s Aftermath deals with one of cinema’s most popular themes: grief. Why is something so morose utilized so often? Because it makes for inherent drama, as an on-screen character is forced to cope with darkened, crushing realities. Writer Javier Gullón wastes no time smashing two airplanes together during what will be their final descent, but we remain safely grounded. This isn’t about the midair disaster itself, but the pieces that need to be picked up – both figuratively and literally. It’s not what you might consider “fun” or “inviting,” but unhinged performances beckon a hopelessness that comes with a world of scorched memories. This one’s for the serious crowd, out there.

For fans of all things Arnold Schwarzenegger, this past fortnight has proven to be an assortment of exciting highs and deflating lows. Late last month, the Austrian Oak hinted that his time in The Terminator franchise had come to an end, only to clarify that those comments were taken somewhat out of context. Turns out he will be back after all, which isn’t something that can be said about The Predator.
Indeed, Schwarzenegger has been rumored with a cameo role in Shane Black’s R-rated franchise revival from day one; however, it was revealed earlier this week that the action veteran actually turned down said role on the grounds that it was too insignificant. That’s probably for the best, too, given that Black is engineering a horror-thriller that is decidedly different from the cult classic of ’87.

The films Arnold Schwarzenegger was making at the peak of his career weren’t exactly known for their dramatic understatement, so if the likes of The Terminator and Predator are still fresh in your mind, then the Austrian Oak’s more recent appearances may seem a little jarring to you. MaryAnn’s quick take… Deeply uninvolving, often weirdly stilted and amateurish, and emotionally inert, which is pretty unforgivable given its subject matter of grief and despair. I’m “biast” (pro): like Scoot McNairy, usually enjoy Schwarzenegger onscreen
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
Somewhere over middle America, two large commercial passenger airliners collide in midair at high altitude, killing hundreds, everyone onboard both planes. How could such a thing happen in Us airspace, some of the best regulated in the world? It probably couldn’t, in fact. Though Aftermath is based on a true story, nothing like this has happened in the Us since at least 1965 (and then with far less catastrophic results): this movie was inspired by a 2002 disaster (also less catastrophic) in which a Russian airliner collided with a cargo plane over Germany while under Swiss air traffic control.

It wasn’t long before the conversation veered toward The Expendables franchise and, more specifically, Schwarzenegger’s future in it – or lack thereof. Barring a last-minute change of heart from both parties, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s time with The Terminator franchise has officially come to a close, signalling that 2015’s Genisys – a botched franchise revival that was initially designed to jump-start a new trilogy of movies, much like Salvation before it – will indeed go down as the Austrian Oak’s last appearance in James Cameron’s iconic sci-fi series.
That opens up room on Schwarzenegger’s slate for two things, it seems: online spats with Donald Trump and, perhaps most interesting of all, a return to drama-oriented material in the vein of Aftermath, Elliott Lester’s nervy revenge thriller that chronicles the crash and subsequent fallout of the Überlingen mid-air collision. Formerly titled 478, the picture places Schwarzenegger in the boots of a working-class husband and father who prepares to welcome his family – namely his wife and pregnant daughter – home after a long trip away.

Aftermath is a nail-biting revenge film based on the real life incident where a man hunts down the air traffic controller he holds responsible for a plane crash that killed his wife and children.
Schwarzenegger, as he showed in Sabotage and the recent zombie film Maggie, has matured into an interesting dramatic actor; here, he is a thoughtful and imposing screen presence, but one who can dish out suitably ferocious revenge if is required. Like the recent box office hit Sully, Aftermath takes an extraordinary real life incident and turns it into nail-biting, must- see cinema: except this time with Arnie at the controls, which means audiences are in for a guaranteed thrill ride.
Directed by Elliott Lester (Blitz, Chop Shop, Sleepwalkers), and produced by Black Swan and The Wrestler director Darren Aronofsky, Aftermath also stars Maggie Grace and Scoot McNairy, and showcases Arnie on superb form as a man...

A young woman suffering from a mysterious sleep disorder struggles to maintain her weakening grip on reality in Sleepwalker, an underwhelming approximation of a David Lynch-style psychological drama. After 2015’s well-received Nightingale, director Elliott Lester’s switch to more genre-oriented material comes off as overly obscure, suggesting limited art house appeal.
Following the death of her husband, Sarah Wells (Ahna O’Reilly) decides to return to her university PhD studies, but encounters frequent episodes of sleepwalking that eventually result in the police retrieving her after she wanders out on the nighttime city streets. Here’s a question: is this the new wave of films we’re expecting? Have we lost all sense of creativity that now we have to look towards terrible events as a means to create a film with emotional appeal? Be it Patriots Day or Bastille Day from last year alone, to countless other films released in the past decade– it’s a manipulation of the emotions that warrants questioning. Granted, this is completely different from historical films like All The President’s Men or Zodiac, but then the question is, is it any different than films from World War II or Vietnam, like Pearl Harbor or Apocalypse Now?
Anyhow. .. .
Arnold Schwarzenegger is definitely pulling it in with that emotional appeal. He lost his wife all the while is busy attempting to fight a white guy in power who lost his old job.
No this isn’t the real world.

"I would like for someone to say that they're sorry for killing my family." Lionsgate Premiere has released a trailer for a film titled Aftermath, about the lives of two people intertwined after an airplane accident. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a father who struggles with grief after his wife and daughter are killed in a plane crash. Scoot McNairy plays an air traffic controller who makes an error that leads to the accident. The cast includes Maggie Grace, Kevin Zegers, Hannah Ware, Glenn Morshower, and Mariana Klaveno. In addition, Darren Aronofsky is listed as a producer on the film, along with his co-producing partner Scott Franklin. This looks quite solid, even though it seems like such a sad story for everyone in this. Here's the first trailer (+ poster) for Elliott Lester's Aftermath, direct from YouTube: Two strangers’ lives become inextricably bound together after a devastating plane crash. Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Hell-Bent on Getting an Apology in Trailer for Darren Aronofsky's Aftermath
It looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger gives a very dramatic performance in the Darren Aronofsky-produced thriller Aftermath. In the film, Schwarzenegger's wife and daughter are killed on an airplane after it collides with another plane. He's absolutely devastated and is hell-bent on getting an apology from the person who was held responsible. It actually looks like a powerful and intense movie worth watching. It looks like Schwarzenegger might give a great performance.

There tends to be a stereotypical assumption that people working in air traffic control are more prone to suicide. Official statistics are sketchy, mind you, but there’s no question that employment at the Atc isn’t your average 9-to-5. Overseeing a fleet of airplanes day in, day out, where a split-second decision can be the difference between life and death is an area of expertise reserved for the crème de la crème, something Peter Nielsen knew all too well.
More than a decade ago, Nielsen was a Swiss air traffic controller on the clock during the infamous Überlingen mid-air collision, which resulted in the death of more than 70 people, including the wife and two children of Russian architect Vitaly Kaloyev. Such a tragic disaster sparked a fierce fight for justice back in 2002, and director Elliott Lester will soon introduce that saga to moviegoers in the form of Aftermath.

When he isn’t hosting “The New Celebrity Apprentice” or offering to switch jobs with Donald Trump (if only), Arnold Schwarzenegger does, on occasion, still make movies. The next of these is “Aftermath,” which is directed by Elliott Lester (“Blitz), written by Javier Gullón (“Enemy”) and produced by Darren Aronofsky. Watch the trailer below.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been watching Celebrity Apprentice because its him… Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Get To The Choppah”!!! in Predator will forever go down as one those great iconic Hollywood one-liners. His role as a grieving father in the Zombie apocalypse film Maggie showed a different side to the one-time Governor of California.
Now comes his turn as a father and husband bent on vengeance.
In cinemas and On-Demand on April 7th, watch the new trailer for Aftermath.
Two strangers’ lives become inextricably bound together after a devastating plane crash. Aftermath is inspired by the remarkable true story of the events that unfolded when a Russian passenger plane collided with a cargo plane over Germany in 2002. 71 people die.

Following his producing work on last year’s Jackie, Darren Aronofsky will be back this fall with his Noah follow-up, the highly-anticipated mother! (yes, that’s how to actually write the title), which was just set for an October 13, 2017 release. However, before that drama starring Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Domhnall Gleeson, he’s produced another film and the first trailer has landed today.
Originally titled 478 (but now going by Aftermath), the thriller, directed by Elliott Lester (Nightingale) and written by Javier Gullón (Enemy), stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a man whose family dies in a plane crash. Caused by an error from an air traffic controller, Schwarzenegger is out for revenge. Rather than an old-fashioned beat-em-up that the actor might have taken on in his heyday, this looks to path some genuine emotional pathos.
Also starring Mariana Klaveno, Kevin Zegers, Scoot McNairy, and Larry Sullivan, check out the trailer below.

Back in 1991, Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in “Terminator 2: Judgement Day,” the follow-up to the 1984 James Cameron’s sci-fi film. Now flash forward 25 years and the actor’s son, Joseph Baena, is taking after his father and creating his own “Terminator” legacy.
The 18-year-old stars in a two-minute short film that is a shot-by-shot remake of the iconic “T2” scene where the cyborg steals a motorcycle, takes the owner’s rifle and snatches his shades, while “Bad to the Bone” plays in the background.

Just when Arnold Schwarzenegger broke away from tradition to offer a heartfelt and emotionally raw performance in last year’s Maggie, the Austrian Oak has been typecast into a role that wouldn’t look out of place on his résumé from 20 years ago.
For Elliott Lester’s (Blitz, Love is the Drug) old-school revenge thriller 478, Schwarzenegger plays a man hellbent for revenge after discovering that the plane crash that killed his doting wife and child was caused by human error – specifically, the human error of one very unfortunate air traffic controller. And so, tossing common sense out the window, Schwarzenegger’s lumbering widower sets about avenging the death of his nearest and dearest. Surely there’s more to it than that, no?
No word yet on who will portray the hapless air traffic controller, though Variety brings word today that Kevin Zegers has boarded the thriller in an unspecified role.

Things haven’t been going so well for Arnold Schwarzenegger at the box office. The sorely underrated Maggie pretty much bypassed cinemas in the Us, getting a small release in the UK. And then there was Terminator Genisys, which in the end did solid box office worldwide, but may yet prove to be another Terminator franchise killer off the back of the scathing reviews it attracted.
