Allen Gregory may have a grandiose opinion of himself but his animated series just couldn't cut it. The low-rated TV series has been officially cancelled.
At the Fox portion of the TCA Winter Press Tour, Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly confirmed what we'd long suspected. He said simply, "We will not be making any more Allen Gregory." The network will however continue to work with the show's star and co-creator, Jonah Hill, noting that he already has a live-action comedy in the works with the network.
Featuring the voices of Hill, French Stewart, Nat Faxon, Joy Osmanski, Christina Puccelli, Jake Johnson and Renee Taylor, Allen Gregory debuted at the end of October to soft ratings. Following a slew of negative reviews, the series debuted on October 30th. It attracted a 2.4 in the 18-49 demographic with 4.77 million total viewers putting it in last place for its timeslot.

Osmanski voices Allen Gregory's Cambodian mail-order sister Julie. Unfortunately, this interview doesn't include the five minutes after wrap that we spent chatting about the underrated Fox comedy "The Loop." Pucelli voices Patrick, Allen Gregory's pint-sized friend and assistant. And together, the two actresses explain why "Allen Gregory" is like the pipe-smoking uncle of Fox's Animation Domination lineup. ...

Chicago – The cartoon hits keep coming as part of Fox TV’s Sunday night “Animation Domination.” The latest, premiering October 30th, is “Allen Gregory,” a series about a pretentious seven-year-old that is created and voiced through the character style of actor Jonah Hill.
TV Rating: 4.0/5.0
The show is strong right out the gate. Combining the low-key and dry delivery of Jonah Hill with a sleek, hepster-styled animation, “Allen Gregory” is fun because it is so weird. It is the type of show that can only exist in the post millennium era, because no other generation would ever believe that a kid like Allen Gregory could exist at any other time.

When San Francisco Police Department Det. Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones, “Sons of Anarchy”) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a shocking suspect: Jack Sylvane (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, “The Nine”), a former Alcatraz inmate who died decades ago. Given her family history – both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, Ray Archer (Robert Forster, “Jackie Brown”), were guards at the prison – Madsen’s interest is immediately piqued, and once the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill, “Jurassic Park”) tries to impede her investigation, she’s doggedly committed.
