Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels is being renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned from sources.
The show, which stars Aldis Hodge as Cross, has yet to debut its first season or even set a premiere date. But according to sources, Amazon was impressed enough with what they have seen from the first season to greenlight the second and begin casting. Jeanine Mason has reportedly already been cast in Season 2.
Reps for Amazon declined to comment.
If “Cross” proves to be popular, it would be the latest successful Amazon series based on a long-running novel character. The company found themselves with a massive hit on their hands courtesy of “Reacher” starring Alan Ritchson, based on the Jack Reacher novels written by Lee Child. Likewise, Amazon’s longest-running series to date was the cop drama “Bosch,” based on the Harry Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly.

Alex is a detective and forensic psychologist, uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims, in order to identify — and ultimately capture — the murderers. He is brilliant, flawed, and full of contradictions.

“Carnival Row” will end after just two seasons at Amazon, with the streamer set to launch the new and final installment of the fantasy drama in early 2023.
Season 2 of the series will launch on Feb. 17, with new episodes dropping weekly thereafter. The season will consist of 10 episodes. “Carnival Row’s” first season aired on Amazon back in August 2019. It was renewed for a second season in July of that year ahead of the series premiere. Amazon did not release any kind of viewership data on the show, but it received mixed reviews from critics upon its launch. The first season holds a 57 critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In his review for Variety, Daniel D’Addario wrote, “This new series reaches for credibility with gruesomeness and exaggeration, falling flat at every turn. It’s painful proof that a genre success cannot be reverse-engineered.”

The carnival is closing at Amazon.
Carnival Row, the fantasy drama series starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne that last aired in August 2019, will end with its previously announced second season on the Prime Video platform.
The series will return for its final 10 episodes on Feb. 17, 2023. Episodes of the drama, a co-production between Legendary TV and Amazon Studios, will debut weekly.
Erik Oleson (Daredevil, The Man in the High Castle) serves as showrunner on season two after he took over for Marc Guggenheim (Arrow) and Travis Beacham, on whose feature script the series was based.
Sources say the series was creatively overhauled for season two, which along with delays from the pandemic contributed to the three-plus years between seasons of the series. All told, Oleson serves as the third showrunner on Carnival Row, which Beacham co-created alongside Rene Echevarria, who was the show’s original showrunner.

Titled “Cross,” the series follows Alex Cross, a detective and forensic psychologist reeling from the murder of his wife, as he takes on cases while juggling his relationship with his children. Aldis Hodge will star in the series as Cross, in addition to producing. The news broke on the same day word came out that Showtime canceled his drama series “City on a Hill,” co-starring Kevin Bacon, after three seasons. The “City on a Hill” cancellation actually predated the “Cross” news by a few months, a person with knowledge of the cancellation decision told IndieWire, but Showtime had been able to keep it under wraps until now.

With the success (so far anyway) of CBS' "Under the Dome," ABC looks to be jumping on the Stephen King bandwagon by acquiring a pilot script from "Haven" creators Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn based on a King-penned short story.

The third season of Haven is not just about bigger and better mysteries, it is a season that promises answers. When co-creators and executive producers Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn first started the show, they wanted viewers to focus on the questions of: What is going on with Audrey? And where does it all lead? And this is the season we get answers to those burning questions. However, it should be cautioned that season three will also bring up new mysteries to be solved, one of which will lead to a cliffhanger that fans should be prepared for in the finale. The one promise is, that no matter what questions arise or which mysteries are solved, fans will enjoy finding it all out.

Finally, finally, it is nearly September 21 and time for the Season 3 premiere of the particularly excellent Syfy series Haven. If you haven’t seen the first two seasons, you have not spent your life wisely. Hopefully you have time between now and the 21st to watch the 26 episodes you’ve missed so far.
If, however, you can’t get to it by then, Haven has taken pity upon you and is gathering you into its creepily embracing arms by releasing some great viral videos and by “hacking” the Twitter account of one of the Havenites who works on the local paper, along with starting up the Twitter hashtag #EscapeToHaven. If you’re already a Haven fan (well done, you) then you’ll have fun checking out the program, too. This will purportedly be a bigger campaign than last year’s Vince and Dave Join Twitter online program.

We have been So Worried about our beloved Haven, especially since Syfy had its digital tour announcements on Monday with no mention of the show other than the Christmas episode. We are therefore especially thrilled to report that Syfy has indeed picked up Haven for another season of 13 episodes, to air in 2012.

Last year, a remarkable new television series debuted under the auspices of one of the most renown names in horror fiction: Stephen King. Despite the prestigious name associated with it, Syfy’s supernatural series Haven debuted quietly and snuck up on everyone. Perhaps because of its quiet introduction, it managed to do the impossible. It unveiled its first season with such a careful and methodical approach that viewers were lulled into a false sense of security. By the end of its first season, fans and viewers only knew one thing for certain – Haven was never going to be predictable. It had shattered and exceeded expectations time and time again over the course of its initial thirteen episodes. So much so, that no one knew exactly who the main character Audrey Parker really was in the end. Was she an FBI agent, a shape-shifter, an amnesiac, or something else entirely?

"Haven" is the newest original show from Syfy. Loosely based on Stephen King's "The Colorado Kid," Haven is a town that acts as a refuge for people with supernatural powers. FBI Agent Audrey Parker shows up to investigate a murder and must confront her forgotten past.

As those start unfolding in the story, they'll start tripping Audrey out ... She knows how to operate and how do do her world and her day-to-day, but the emotional, she'd rather not.

SyFy’s new series “Haven” brings another Stephen King story to television. “Haven” is based on the Stephen King novella “The Colorado Kid”. In the series, Haven is described as a place “where people with supernatural abilities have migrated for generations because it mutes their powers, allowing them to lead normal lives.”
“Haven” stars Emily Rose (“Damages”) as Audrey Parker, an FBI Agent who uncovers the secret of the small town of Haven, Maine in her investigation of the murder of a local ex-con.
SyFy’s Evp of Original Programming, Mark Stern, compares this new show to another SyFy original series “Eureka”:
“It felt like a good companion to Eureka… but from a different perspective. Haven is like the Stephen King alternative to [Eureka], not the dark, grim Steven King version of that but the ‘Green Mile‘ version of that with people beginning to experience strange supernatural abilities but not being aware of it.
