Before his Stranger Things fame, David Harbour did many small and significant character roles in several films and TV series. Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds was one project he could never forget due to a major disappointment. If you don’t remember seeing him in the sci-fi flick starring Tom Cruise, that’s because he was cut from the film. While Harbour accepted his fate, he was probably hurt by the fact that Spielberg had no memory of working with him in the film.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was one of the main attractions of the hit NBC series Seinfeld. The brainchild of comedian Jerry Seinfeld, many of its storylines were inspired by real-life experiences of Seinfeld’s life. The series ran for 9 successful seasons and is considered one of the most influential sitcoms of all time.

The show in total consisted of 180 episodes throughout its entire run and while the makers pulled off some risky one-liners and jokes through them, one episode proved to be too extreme for the cast and they had to pull the plug on the episode. Alone in the Dark is an extremely important franchise within the sub-genre of survival horror. The first game in the series is considered by many to be the first true survival horror video game ever released. Thus, without this franchise, other iconic survival horror titles like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Alan Wake may never have come to pass.
This is one reason that this reimagining of the original Alone in the Dark was my most anticipated 2024 release, the other reason is because survival horror remakes have been knocking it out of the park lately. Last year alone saw Capcom expertly remaster the iconic Resident Evil 4, after the year opened with EA releasing a masterful remake of the original Dead Space.
All of this combined with the star power of David Harbour and Jodie Comer in the lead roles meant that Pieces Interactive’s 2024 reimagining of Alone in the Dark...

The new Alone in the Dark is meant to be an event—a revitalization of the 30-year-old franchise that created the blueprint for survival horror games. There is, after all, no Resident Evil without 1992’s Alone in the Dark, which sent polygonal characters through the gauntlet of fixed-camera angles in a sinister mansion. Now, the enduring success of Resident Evil, and especially its recent remakes, is a visible influence on this reimagining of the game.
Developer Pieces Interactive has reconceived Derceto Manor, the 1920s-era Louisiana estate at the center of the original Alone in the Dark, with modern graphics and an over-the-shoulder camera. They’ve even gone so far as to cast Jodie Comer and David Harbour as the two selectable protagonists: Emily Hartwood, a young woman searching for her troubled uncle, and Edward Carnby, a private investigator whose services she’s enlisted.

Tommy Wirkola‘s action-thriller Violent Night is getting a sequel, we learned last year, but what’s the latest on that project? Is it still happening or has it fallen by the wayside?
Chatting with Collider at SXSW last week, Violent Night producer Kelly McCormick promised that Violent Night 2 is definitely still happening, and might be filming next year.
“We are planning on returns to those universes,” McCormick responded when the outlet asked for updates on sequels to both Nobody and the Christmas movie Violent Night.
McCormick teased, “Hopefully, honestly, even potentially end of this year for Nobody 2 and, beginning of next year for Violent Night 2, if we can find time in everybody’s busy schedules.
“But the development’s going super well and everybody’s really, really excited about moving those worlds forward.”

Marvel’s Thunderbolts is another ambitious venture that the franchise will put out in 2025. Starring Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova and Harrison Ford as Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, the film will also feature Marvel alum Sebastian Stan reprising his role as Bucky Barnes along with other regular Marvel cameos. The popular narrative based on a group of anti-heroes is already gaining hype for its ensemble cast and the plotline.

Marvel’s Thunderbolts is bringing a fresh narrative to the table, with David Harbour’s Red Guardian and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova at the center of its intriguing storyline. Harbour, in a recent interview with ScreenRant, shed light on the complex dynamics between these two characters.
He revealed that the film delves into the characters’ shared history, particularly their time as spies in the Midwest. This aspect of their past plays a significant role in the movie, adding depth to their relationship. For instance, it mirrors the depth seen in the ‘Black Widow’ film, notably in the scene featuring the song “American Pie.”
What stands out in Harbour’s description is the nuanced relationship between Red Guardian and Yelena. Despite Yelena’s apparent disdain for him, she relies on him in ways that she might not fully understand. This reflects the often complicated nature of real-life relationships, where the...

Violent Night hit theaters in December of 2022. It was a surprise hit, grossing a solid $50 million domestically, and another $26 million overseas, on a thrifty $20 million budget. The premise was a “can’t miss” proposition, being about a group of mercenaries that takes a rich family hostage, while Santa Claus (David Harbour) tries to save the day (and believe in Christmas again).Yet, many folks might have missed the movie last year, as by the time it hit Peacock and Blu-ray/DVD, it was January, at which point no one really wants to watch a Christmas movie anymore. With the yuletide season upon us, now’s the perfect time to revisit this holiday action flick.
Now, whenever someone asks me what my favorite Christmas movie is, I have only one answer. Die Hard. The Bruce Willis film has long been at the center of heated debate on it being classified as a holiday film.

Last week, Stranger Things cast member David Harbour said he expected to start filming season 5 of the hit Netflix series – which will also be the final season of the show – in “a couple days”. But first he had to make an appearance at Motor City Comic Con, and during the show he confirmed that season 5 has “a very real ending” that wraps up the story.
Harbour said (with thanks to Deadline for sharing his comment), “The beauty of it is, there’s a real ending. Stranger Things will end in a very real way. … The storyline of Stranger Things, from where we started with the Upside Down and that lab, to where we’re going in season 5 is one complete story, and it’s gonna end at the final episode of season 5.” He acknowledged that there’s still room for spin-offs and prequel stories like the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow,...

During an appearance at Motor City Comic Con, Harbour was asked about a possible sixth season of the series, with the fan not knowing Netflix had already tapped Season 5 as the last one.
The actor who plays Jim Hopper on the streaming series created by the Duffer Brothers broke the news to the audience at the panel and hinted at what viewers would look forward to.

David Harbour is set to return to the town of Hawkins one last time, as ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 will conclude the chapter of the Upside Down, and all its chaos. After the end of the actors’ strike, Harbour said he was “thrilled” to make his comeback on the popular sci-fi horror show.

In the upcoming DC Universe show, Creature Commandos, actor David Harbour is set to bring a fresh spin to the iconic character of Frankenstein. Harbour, renowned for his role in Stranger Things, shared insights into this unique portrayal during the BoxLunch Holiday Gala.

Now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is over, the floodgates are opening as actors are once again free to discuss the projects they’re involved in. Shawn Levy is promising that “Stranger Things” Season 5 goes beyond being just a television event.
The director and executive producer told Total Film magazine that the final season of the Netflix series has “major, major, cinematic storytelling” elements that rivals the “biggest movies” in theaters today.
“There’s no way to be contiguous with Season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth,” Levy said. “It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. ‘Stranger Things 5’ is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”
Season 4 saw episodes extending into feature length, with the season finale clocking in at 2 hours and 30 minutes, and several installments hovering around an hour and a half.
“Stranger Things” creators the Duffer Brothers revealed earlier this year that the Season 5 pitch to Netflix made executives “cry” over the course of two hours.

“Stranger Things 4” pushed television episode lengths to extremes, with two chapters that ran around 90 minutes, and a season finale that was the length of a Hollywood blockbuster at nearly two-and-a-half hours. Anyone thinking the upcoming fifth and final season of the Netflix series will scale things back is mistaken. Speaking to Total Film magazine, “Stranger Things” executive producer and director Shawn Levy said Season 5 will only expand the scale of the already-humungous Season 4.
“There’s no way to be contiguous with Season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth,” Levy said. “It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. ‘Stranger Things 5’ is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”

Henry Creel's dark past is coming to light in the Duffer Brothers' forthcoming "Stranger Things" stage play, "Stranger Things: The First Shadow." The prequel, set in 1959 Hawkins, premieres in London's West End later this year and will take a deep dive into Vecna's chilling origin story. Like Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will seeing their D&d nightmares realized, the theatrical production promises to take fans right back to the beginning of Hawkins's deepest and most terrifying secrets - and then some.
On July 5, the show's official social media accounts posted a preview clip for the play, teasing that the "Stranger Things" origin story just "might hold the key to what comes next," too.

“Yellowjackets” will look to take the Emmys by storm again after the first season of the Showtime hit came away with seven bids including a nomination for Best Drama Series. The show follows a high-school girls soccer team that survives a plane crash. What seems at first a lucky escape, however, soon devolves into something far more nightmarish as they try to survive in the Canadian wilderness. That’s one half of the story, set in 1996. The other half of the series focuses on the survivors as adults 25 years later in 2021.
The show stars Melanie Lynskey in the lead role — the adult version of Shauna — while Elijah Wood joined the season two cast as Walter Tattersall, a detective who tries to help Christina Ricci‘s Misty. “The Lord of the Rings” alum is a welcome addition to the cast of “Yellowjackets” and fits right in alongside fellow child actor Ricci.

“The Boys” ramped up its outrageousness in every way possible in its latest, third season— from, uh, a shrunken man venturing into a human orifice to Jensen Ackles‘ emergence as the Amazon Prime Video show’s satirical take on Captain America (Steve Rogers)… Soldier Boy.
The show, based on the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, is Eric Kripke‘s superhero satire. While comedic in many places, the show is first and foremost a drama and follows Karl Urban and Jack Quaid leading up a squad determined to take down the supes-gone-bad. The supes, in turn, are part of a team called The Seven (led by Anthony Starr‘s Homelander), which are handled by mega-company Vought International.

Ed Harris is hoping to contend at the Emmys one last time for the HBO sci-fi series “Westworld,” which signed off last year after four seasons. Based on Michael Crichton‘s 1973 movie of the same name, the show comes from Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan and follows a collection of people indulging themselves at a highly-sophisticated theme park that depicts the wild west and is populated by advanced AI.
The show continued to build on its theme with each season and features some wonderful actors, not least including Harris. Harris plays the Man in Black, a sadistic and brutal man who is determined to find out the secrets of the theme park. In the final seasons, Harris also plays William, who is a host who replaces the original Man in Black. David Harbour wins stepdad of the year. On May, he got his stepdaughters the hottest ticket in town to the "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" premiere in New York City.
The 48-year-old "Stranger Things" star married singer turned actor Lily Allen in 2020 and is now stepdad to her two children with her ex-husband Sam Cooper, Ethel, 11, and Marnie Cooper, 10.
The sisters relationship with Harbour is so sweet. In a June 2021 interview on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," Harbour told the late-night host that the children spurred him to marry Allen when they debated whether or not he was their dad on one occasion. "We were riding around beginning of [the] pandemic . . . trying to figure out what we were gonna do for the next year or however long it was going to take," he recounted. Stranger Things will be ending after a five-season run on Netflix, but star Gaten Matarazzo admits to having a “deep fear” on the series’ looming end.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Matarazzo reflected on what he felt as he and the cast prepare to film the fifth and final season this year.
“It’s interesting to constantly just be reminded how much people have resonated with it,” Matarazzo said. “I mean, it’s something that’s so important to all of us and has just been essential to the growth that I’ve had over all of my teenage years into my 20s. It’s the defining aspect of the past 10 years of my life, practically the past decade.”

When Stranger Things concludes after five seasons on Netflix, the stars will be free to take on new projects.
Gaten Matarazzo is the latest star to open up about the conclusion and has revealed that he's living in "deep fear" about it.
"It's interesting to constantly just be reminded how much people have resonated with it," Matarazzo said when asked about the imminent conclusion.

Filming has yet to begin, so there's probably a long wait in store for fans, and it means the cast has not yet said goodbye to the hit drama.
Fallon asked the actor whether it was "bittersweet" to say goodbye to the series.

David Harbour and Lily Allen are one of Hollywood’s cutest couples. They got married in 2020 in a Las Vegas chapel, complete with an Elvis impersonator and burgers from In-n-Out. The couple recently remodeled their home, and much like their wedding, the style is striking and not for everyone. Unlike their nuptials, however, their house is over-the-top in luxurious features.

The Netflix series Stranger Things will be coming to an end with its fifth season, and filming is set to begin very soon. While cast member Noah Schnapp, who plays Will Byers on the show, has said that he will be reporting to the set in May, he co-star David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, revealed during the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi (as reported by Collider) that he will begin working on Stranger Things season 5 in June. And he promised that we can expect to see a Hopper who has been “well-fed” this time around, as opposed to the much smaller version of the character we saw in season 4.
Harbour was quoted as saying, “We’re walking into season 5. I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season. I did a lot...

The eagerly anticipated “Stranger Things” Season 5 won’t start filming until June, David Harbour told Collider in an interview published Monday. Since production on the hit Netflix series can take up to a year, plus extensive post-production, that means we might not see the final season until 2025.
“We’re walking into Season 5. I’ve got a couple more months to train. We start shooting that in June, though, and that will be the final season,” said Harbour.
In Season 4, his character, Jim Hopper, was noticeably slimmed down after being forced into hard labor in a bleak Russian prison, but Harbour promised we’ll soon see our favorite smalltown sheriff back to Season 3 form.

It doesn't feel like all that long ago we were getting ready for a "Hellboy" reboot from director Neil Marshall ("The Descent") with David Harbour, of "Stranger Things" fame, in the title role. Harbour looked great, the cast had a lot of promise, and yet, the film flopped spectacularly when it debuted in 2019 both critically and commercially. Be that as it may, Millennium Media is going to give it another try with an R-rated, horror-skewing take on the Dark Horse Comics character in the form of "Hellboy: The Crooked Man." And, for better or worse, it seems very much like it's going to be a lower budget affair, particularly as comic-book movies go.
Even 2019's "Hellboy" only carried a reported $50 million budget, which is modest compared to say a Marvel movie, which can easily cost close to $200 million these days. But we have some evidence that suggests Millennium is going...

Jack Kesy will portray Hellboy in “The Crooked Man,” a new movie based on the demonic comic book character. It’s the latest reboot of the role, which has been previously immortalized on screen by Ron Perlman and David Harbour.
Millennium Media is backing “The Crooked Man,” which will be directed by Brian Taylor from a script by “Hellboy” comic book creator Mike Mignola and Chris Golden. It will be the first film in the Millennium Media partnered development slate with German film and TV distributor Telepool, a division of Westbrook Inc.
Based on the 2008 comic of the same name, the movie focuses on the character’s earlier days and takes place as Hellboy and a rookie Bprd (which stands for Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense) agent are stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia. As an accomplished character actor and leading man, David Harbour has just about done it all in his career. But his latest role as Ernest the Ghost in Netflix’s We Have a Ghost is unlike any character he—or almost any other modern actor—has ever attempted. The gimmick is this: Harbour has no lines. He doesn’t speak once in the entire movie.
Actors lend their voices to movies without showing their faces all the time, but rarely does it happen the other way around for a leading performance in the 21st century. The question is, why make a movie in which one of its most recognizable stars on Netflix doesn’t say a word?
The answer is the same for any question about good artistic choices: Because it makes the story better.

Since he posted a mysterious photo of a clapper board online in 2021, we'd been waiting to find out just what Christopher Landon's "We Have A Ghost" was all about. Back then, the director, who scripted several "Paranormal Activity" movies and helmed the "Happy Death Day" movies, gave us just a morsel of info, insisting that this was not going to be a horror movie. We did know, however, that the movie was likely going to have a connection to the previously announced adaptation of Geoff Manaugh's short story "Ernest." And that turned out to be right on the money.
With "We Have A Ghost" finally almost upon us, we now know the Anthony Mackie and David Harbour-starring project is Landon's version of a light-hearted, family-friendly, '80s Amblin film. Also featuring comedian Tig Notaro and Jennifer Coolidge, the Netflix movie sees Mackie's Frank and family move into a new home,...

Christopher Landon has quietly established himself as one of the most original voices in the horror genre. Adopting a slightly campy, fun-loving approach, Landon wrote and directed a series of movies for Blumhouse that are beloved by fans: Happy Death Day and its sequel, Happy Death Day 2U, and the underrated Freaky. Now, working with a much bigger budget, Landon’s been able to stretch out with his latest film for Netflix, We Have a Ghost, which stars David Harbour as a ghost haunting a house owned by Anthony Mackie and his family.
Unlike most other haunted house movies, Harbour’s silent ghost, Ernest, has a heart of gold and becomes BFFs with Jahi Winston’s Kevin, the family’s long-ignored son who comes into his own, protecting Ernest from his somewhat opportunistic father. Eventually, Kevin and Ernest try to unravel the amnesia-stricken ghost’s past in a family adventure...

Plot: After discovering that their new home is haunted by a ghost named Ernest, Kevin creates a YouTube channel and makes the ghost and his family Internet-famous. However, when Kevin and Ernest start to uncover the truth about Ernest’s past, they become a target of the CIA
Review: We Have A Ghost is the quintessential Neflix movie: a solid budget, recognizable actors in supporting roles, and some fresh-faced teen talent performing for a talented director. It also is overlong and does not seem to have any oversight on what should have been trimmed from its excessive running time. Christopher Landon’s movie is a mash-up of Ghostbusters, Harry and the Hendersons, and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial with an aim at being a family friendly adventure movie but one that does not really make any inroads towards a particular audience. With a mute performance from David Harbour as Ernest, We Have A Ghost...

Writer/Director Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) evokes the family-friendly Amblin movies of yesterday for his latest, Netflix’s We Have a Ghost. Wearing its formative gateway horror influences on its sleeves, We Have a Ghost blends nostalgic family adventure-induced charm with Landon’s distinct ability to render authentic characters to an affecting degree. While it threatens to overstay its welcome, the tender adventure delivers ghostly charm, poignant family bonds, and humor that’ll appeal to new generations of budding genre fans.
The Presley family moved into a long-vacant fixer-upper near Chicago, looking for a fresh start. It’s the latest in a string of new beginnings for ambitious, restless dad Frank (Anthony Mackie), much to the chagrin of his youngest son, Kevin (Jahi Winston). Not even older brother Fulton (Niles Fitch) or peacekeeping mom Melanie (Erica Ash) can stave off the mounting tension between them. Kevin’s tired...

"Amblin-esque" is a term that gets thrown around a lot, and it mostly means "This movie/TV show features kids on bikes." But "We Have a Ghost," a sweet-natured family-friendly haunted house pic from "Freaky" director Christopher Landon, really has that Amblin vibe going for it. Were it not for some very modern social media-based jokes, it feels like "We Have a Ghost" could've easily fit into the late '80s and early '90s, when Steven Spielberg reigned supreme and everyone was trying to ape his style and, for lack of a better word, brand. Indeed, "We Have a Ghost" feels like the result of decades of Amblin-like pics and their various clones. It owes more than a few things to movies like "E.T.", "Poltergeist," "Beetlejuice," and even, believe it or not, the "Casper" movie from 1995.

News of a fresh horror comedy from Christopher Landon, director of the joyously silly “Happy Death Day” and its sequel, should be greeted with cautious optimism at the very least. He’s been working in the space for some time now, having also co-written and directed “Freaky,” “Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse” and the more straightforward “Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones,” and understands how to thread that particular needle better than most. His latest feels like both a natural next step and also something of a departure: a family-friendly haunted-house story releasing on Netflix. Unlike his previous efforts, however, “We Have a Ghost” fails to capture what makes this particular genre hybrid so much fun.
