The upcoming summer release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, is the next entry in George Miller and Byron Kennedy’s post-apocalyptic action film series Mad Max. Mad Max: Fury Road, which won an Oscar, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and The Road Warrior were the three subsequent flicks in the series after the 1979 release of the first movie.
However, it seems Taylor-Joy’s work on Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga didn’t attract as much attention as her covert marriage to Malcolm McRae, which took everyone by surprise. But now, it seems like the actress, 28, is making up for lost time with the perfect gift for her beloved husband after wrapping up filming for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Elliot Page criticized Canada’s rollback of LGBTQ rights on the stage of the Juno Awards in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sunday night.
“We are at a time in history where the rights of LGBTQ2+ people are being revoked, restricted and eliminated throughout the world, and the effects are devastating,” Page, a transgender Halifax native, said in a speech presenting twin singer-songwriters Tegan and Sara with the Junos’ humanitarian award. Page praised the work of the Tegan and Sara Foundation for 2Slgbtq+ youth, supporting health care services to youth programs. Earlier in the week, he said at BFI Flare, London’s LGBTQ film festival, that “30% of young people identify as LGBTQ,” referring to a survey released earlier this year about Gen Z adults in the U.S. “So I’m sorry, but this is not niche.”

This is already shaping up to be an interesting year for Best New Artist at the Grammys. The category might lack a clear frontrunner so far, as it is early in the year, but we do have some serious contenders who might pick up more steam closer to voting time this fall. Plus, an open field might make it even more interesting, unlike years where the winner was rather obvious like when Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish prevailed.
TikTok breakout Benson Boone might be positioning himself as the one to beat. He had already achieved some recognition before 2024 with his viral tracks “In the Stars” and “Ghost Town,” the latter of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100. A legal battle between comic creator Robert Kirkman and an artist who says he was tricked into abandoning his copyright to Invincible has settled.
Lawyers for Kirkman and William Crabtree, a colorist for the first 50 issues who claims he co-created the series, notified the court of an agreement to resolve the case, according to a notice of settlement filed Thursday. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. A jury trial was set to start Feb. 20.
The legal battle revolved around claims that Kirkman duped Crabtree into surrendering his ownership stake under the guise of making the title easier to sell to studios. The 2005 agreement stated that Kirkman was the “sole author” of Invincible and “owner of all rights of every kind and nature,” while characterizing Crabtree’s contributions as a “work-for-hire,” meaning that Kirkman was assigned any rights the colorist would’ve had to the series.

When Tate McRae broke through in 2020 with the brooding bedroom pop of her debut single “You Broke Me First,” the then-17 year-old Canadian singer stormed TikTok with such an innate understanding of how other teenagers were consuming music that RCA Records didn’t just sign her, they restructured their marketing strategy around her. But the formula behind that initial success— a combination of original dances, trend participation, and teaser snippets — hasn’t always worked for her. “She’s All I Wanna Be,” the should-have-been-hit from her 2022 debut album I Used...

How do you follow a smash hit like “Greedy,” which has spent nine days at Number One of Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart?

Anya Taylor-Joy and Malcolm McRae appear to have made their love official. The couple, who were first linked together in 2021, reportedly tied the knot in Venice, Italy, this past weekend, according to photos obtained by Daily Mail.

The outlet reported that ahead of the wedding, the couple — who began dating in May 2021 — tapped an Italian wedding planning firm, The Wedding Boutique Italy, to organize the ceremony and reception.

Anya Taylor-Joy has been in increasingly high demand over the past few years. The 26-year-old's star began to rise with roles in projects like "The Witch," "Split," "Glass," "Peaky Blinders," and "The Queen's Gambit." She's also starred in movies like "Thoroughbreds," "Emma," "The New Mutants," "The Northman," "The Menu," and "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," and she's also been cast as Furiosa in the highly anticipated "Mad Max: Fury Road" prequel.
Over the years, Taylor-Joy has mostly kept her dating life low-key, though details have emerged here and there. In 2018, before "The Queen's Gambit" made her a household name, Taylor-Joy told The Guardian that she purposely chooses not to share too much about her personal life. "There's a beauty in being anonymous," she said. "There's a reason why we're actors, we're playing other people so I think the idea of someone being interested in me, I'm quite a private person,...

Hold up, is that Tate McRae in a Zamboni? It sure is.
The pop star embraces her Canadian heritage (and her birthplace’s love for hockey) in her new video for the single “Greedy,” released Friday. McRae says the song is part of a “new chapter of my music.”
The Aerin Moreno-directed video opens with a clip of McRae driving around an ice rink on a Zamboni before the camera switches to capture the singer showing off her dance moves, choreographed by Sean Bankhead, from inside the arena’s changing room.

‘Dylan’s New Nightmare’ – Fan Film Sequel to ‘New Nightmare’ Starring Miko Hughes Is Worth Your Time
I have mixed feelings on fan films. I’d prefer to see indie filmmakers invest their resources in an original concept rather than someone else’s intellectual property, but I also understand the reality that content with an established fanbase guarantees more engagement. Moreover, when beloved properties like A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th become entangled in ongoing legal disputes, fan films can sate viewers’ hunger for more.
Even if a new Elm Street movie is produced with Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, it’s highly unlikely to acknowledge the events of New Nightmare, given its blurring of the lines between fiction and reality. (Freddy vs Jason ignored it as well.) YouTuber-turned-writer/director Cecil Laird teamed with producer Vincente Disanti — the filmmaker behind the popular Friday the 13th fan film Never Hike Alone — to fill that void with Dylan’s New Nightmare: A Nightmare on Elm Street Fan Film.

Anya Taylor-Joy’s boyfriend Malcolm McRae is also a talented entertainer — an actor and musician. The two have been together since at least March 2021, when The Queen’s Gambit actress publicly acknowledged McRae for the first time. Two years and a few months later, reports emerged claiming they had a secret wedding. Neither Taylor-Joy nor McRae has confirmed or refuted that they are married. This has fanned the public’s interest in their relationship, pulling McRae deeper into the spotlight. WhileMcRae is committed to gaining the mainstream recognition that would take his career to a greater height, his partner got her...

Tate McRae released her debut album last year, titled I Used to Think I Could Fly. The record itself features soaring highs, like the envy-heavy single “She’s All I Wanna Be,” and emotional lows, such as “Feel Like Shit.” She wasn’t sure if she could fly then, but now she’s preparing to take flight on the “Are We Flying” tour.

Jerusalem, June 12 (Ians) Israeli EuroCup side Hapoel Tel Aviv achieved an impressive 112-74 home win over Euroleague team Maccabi Tel Aviv in Game 2 of the Israeli Super League final series.
Hapoel thus tied the best-of-three series at 1-1, forcing a decisive third game to be held on Tuesday at Maccabi’s home arena, reports Xinhua.

Jordan McRae inspired Hapoel to completely dominate the first quarter, ending 36-17 before Xavier Munford helped the hosts improve to 58-33.

The directorial debut from actor Mo McRae isn’t a traditional thriller about racism. In fact, the opening scene of A Lot of Nothing is more dramatic than it is exciting or suspenseful. Here the two main characters, affluent and successful couple James and Vanessa (Y’Ian Noel and Cleopatra Coleman), are watching an evening news segment about a local police incident; a Black child was reportedly killed by a white officer. The protagonists then enter a heated argument — really just verbal foreplay set to funky background music — after realizing the cop in question is their neighbor Brian (Justin Hartley).
A Lot of Nothing is described as a satirical thriller, but the longer the movie goes on, that description becomes less and less accurate. The closest thing to satire occurs when James and Vanessa go to their respective jobs the next day; he’s a corporate lawyer and she works in finances.

With fuzzy images that behave more like memories or nightmares and less like a straight-up depiction of a haunted house, “Skinamarink” doesn’t make it easy to tell what’s happening onscreen. Kyle Edward Ball’s micro-budget horror sensation makes audiences peer through a swirling fog of simulated film grain at unexpected, sometimes jarring angles, and we can’t help but imagine the worst for the two small siblings who suddenly realize they’re trapped inside their own home. Ball and his collaborators strategically chose a small number of fairly simple tools to achieve the film’s lo-fi look, where sometimes even the image noise itself seems haunted.
Low Light, High Iso
“Skinamarink” was shot on location in Ball’s parents’ house, where the windows were blacked out and a flickering TV set was often cinematographer Jamie McRae’s only lighting source. In such an environment, the measure of the camera sensor’s light sensitivity,...

Mo McRae’s face may be more recognizable than his name. As an actor for more than 20 years with over 60 credits and counting he’s worked steadily, appearing on TV and in film in such roles as Benjamin Berry in “The Flight Attendant,” Blip Sanders on the short-lived “Pitch,” and Gus Henderson in “Den of Thieves.” Now he’s moved behind the camera as the co-writer and director of “A Lot of Nothing,” his feature film debut.
Officially, the film is about an uber-successful Black married couple whose perfect lives are knocked off kilter when they learn via the evening news that their cop neighbor, who is white, has killed a kid. In a time where the police killings of Tyre Nichols in Memphis and George Floyd in Minneapolis are front of mind, they assume that the victim is Black and decide to get answers. And that’s when everything goes wrong.

Despite its precision film-making and a standout performance from Kristoffer McMillan, this bloody thriller is a grisly watch
This gory, lowish-budget thriller is quite competently made on a technical level, with umbral cinematography that is choreographed down to the millimetre along with the flash-cut-heavy editing and shrieky score and sound design. But it is not exactly a fun watch unless you really like lots of violence and jumbled-timeline puzzle stories. It feels like a calling card effort for the team that made it, which includes the co-writer and director, Keene McRae, making his first feature here as well as taking a supporting role, and the actors Kristoffer McMillan and Lane Thomas, who co-wrote the script with McRae and took on assorted other duties off camera. Good luck to them, because they certainly have skills, if a less assured touch with character building.

Tate McRae has mastered the art of making bad decisions. On her latest single, “Uh Oh,” the Canadian pop star runs through the cyclical nature of a complicated relationship that both she and her friends have down to a science.
It goes something like this: McRae swears off her situationship, then becomes a little intrigued by the slate of texts and missed calls. From there, one thing leads to another, and – once she’s had a few drinks – she finds herself right back where she started: heading back to their place.
