Jeremy Clarkson’s “awful” comments about Meghan Markle have had “no washover onto the ITV brand,” according to CEO Carolyn McCall.
Addressing the now-disgraced Sun column from the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? host this morning, McCall said she believed her team had “handled it well.”
Clarkson is contractually committed to one further series of ITV format Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, a show he has been hosting for the past five years, and ITV is very likely to drop him after filming has ended, although McCall stressed that “neither Who Wants to be a Millionaire? or Jeremy Clarkson have been cancelled by ITV.”
“We’ve handled it well and been very clear,” she added. “We have said his comments were awful and I don’t think there has been any washover onto our brand.”

ITV’s profits slid by more than 12% last year reflecting “planned investment in content and Itvx,” according to the network.
Unveiling its full-year 2022 results in the past few minutes, the Love Island and Nolly commercial broadcaster showed a revenue boost of 7% to £4.3B ($5.2B) but adjusted Ebitda for the group slid by 12% to £723M ($865M). The slide was a reversal of the previous year, when a post-Covid uplift saw profits shoot upwards by an impressive 42%. In 2022, group adjusted Ebitda margin fell from 24% to 19% and pre-tax profit rose from £480M to £501M.
Total advertising revenue virtually flatlined to stay around the £1.9B mark, reflecting difficulties in the market, although digital advertising revenue rose by 17% to £343M in line with ITV’s expectations.

Mark Ballas and Lindsey Stirling are opening up about the key to their drama-free Dancing With the Stars partnership and how they “jam” together to shake off moments of frustration.
The pair invited Et’s Cameron Mathison to dance rehearsals this week, where they shared how a love of music has helped them stay focused on the competition.
“The good thing for us is we get along really well,” Ballas said. “We're both musicians as well, so if we're ever having a day where we're like, ‘This is frustrating,’ I usually have the guitar and she usually has the violin and we can jam together and forget about it for a minute. There have been moments where I get frustrated, there have been moments where she gets frustrated and instead of letting her go to that place of frustration, [I’m] like, ‘No, no, you got this.’”

Coming Distractions: Oprah needs warriors in the brazenly bright first trailer for A Wrinkle In Time
Disney released the first trailer for Ava DuVernay’s A Wrinkle In Time today, as a treat for fans at its D23 expo (and everywhere else, too). Now, we’ve finally got our first look at DuVernay’s much-anticipated adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s Ya sci-fi classic, which stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling as three extra-dimensional “witches” guiding a trio of youths in a quest across the stars.
The trailer definitely plays up the film’s star power—most notably Chris Pine, the vanished father of Storm Reid’s protagonist, Meg White—over its teenage cast (and we could probably have gone a few more years before hearing a trailer cover of “Sweet Dreams” again), but it’s impossible to deny the vivid visuals DuVernay offers up. The most chilling: the suburban nightmare planet of Camazotz, seen at the trailer’s end, where conformity is everything...

Colcoa is keeping up with the times. Now in its twenty-first year, the lauded French film festival, sponsored by the Franco-American Cultural Fund, has added a pair of forward-thinking new categories for its newest edition. This year will include a virtual reality program and a web series competition, in addition to its Cinema, Television and Shorts competitions.
“These two new popular formats offer more opportunities to showcase the creativity of French producers and filmmakers as well as the diversity of French production,” said François Truffart, Colcoa Executive Producer and Artistic Director. “While entertainment is still the key word for the program, with a balanced mix of comedies and dramas, several topical issues will cover the program this year, including the environment, discrimination, racism, terrorism, and the role of the artist in society. More than ever, Colcoa will offer a unique opportunity to see these universal topics from different angles.”

Marco Bellochio’s story of a journalist dealing with the loss of his mother is spoiled by a disappointingly sugary resolution
Marco Bellochio’s sentimental new movie is a long and uninterestingly edited muddle of memories and flashbacks that contains a few intriguing moments and frustratingly tiny cameos from great performers such as Bérénice Bejo and Emmanuelle Devos. It is adapted from Massimo Gramellini’s 2012 novel Sweet Dreams, Little One.
Valerio Mastandrea is Massimo, a Turin journalist haunted by the loss of his adored mother when he was a little boy – the cause of her death having always been concealed from him by his father (Guido Caprino).
Massimo has covered much in his life, as a war correspondent in Bosnia in the 90s and as a sportswriter.

Every year HeyUGuys are fortunate enough to be invited to a long-weekend in Paris to interview some of the industry’s finest performers (stay tuned for our feature with Isabelle Huppert next week) – and this year we had the pleasure of meeting Berenice Bejo, in the French capital to promote her latest endeavour, Sweet Dreams.
After spending time discussing her role in the Marco Bellocchio production, and her love for Italian cinema – she then went on to discuss the role of women in the film industry, and her disdain at the financial inequality between the sexes. She also goes on to discuss her role in her husband Michel Hazanavicius’ latest, the Godard biopic Redoubtable, and just how often she and her partner help each other in their respective careers.
So what’s your relationship with Italian cinema?

A Review Revisit.
The unique political fantasy Gabriel Over the White House has become painfully topical lately. This is an update of a 2009 review. To my knowledge nothing has changed with the product — I saw a re-promotion of Twilight Time’s 1984 disc and thought, Gabriel is twice as relevant and at least as scary.
Unstable times in America have produced some pretty strange political-religious message pictures.

Sideshow Collectibles has unveiled the ultimate Freddy Krueger 1/6th scale action figure from the A Nightmare on Elm Street horror film franchise. If you're a fan of this character, you've got to add this figure to your collection. The detail on this figure, including the iconic clothes, glove, and the gnarly burn scars, is pretty incredible. I've included the description of the figure below along with a bunch of other photos:
Sweet dreams. Having haunted our dreams (nightmares) for well over three decades, it only made sense that the next classic horror villain to be realized as a Sideshow Sixth Scale Figure would be Freddy Krueger. The Freddy Krueger Sixth Scale Figure is an amazingly accurate and detailed recreation of the monster’s look from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. Beneath his trademark fedora is Krueger's burned scowling visage and a fully-detailed cloth costume, including his iconic weathered striped sweater.

One week ago, People Pets wrote about the nature of your pet’s dreams, based on the limited knowledge we have and the opinions of a Harvard expert.
What Clinical and Evolutionary Psychologist Dr. Deirdre Barrett shared about the meaning of animal dreams was intriguing, but one bit of the interview stood out from the rest.
It was Dr. Barrett’s answer to the question “What do dogs experience when they dream?” that has sent the Internet into fits of happy tears.
Dr. Barrett’s answer: “Humans dream about the same things theyâ.re interested in by day, though more visually and less logically.

Marco Bellochio is superhumanly prolific; a member of a very small group of directors who turn out a film about every year. Granted, they range in quality, but he’s undergoing a personal renaissance, with his most highly regarded work coming in the last decade and a half. Those film, Good Morning Night, Vincere and Dormant Beauty, are loaded with a rock-solid sense of time and place, coupled with an emotional heft that largely avoids sentimentality.
His latest is Sweet Dreams, an adaptation of journalist Massimo Gramellini’s autobiographical novel Sweet dreams, little one. The book and film are an extensive meditation on grief, loss and mourning – following the life of Massimo from childhood to middle age as he struggles with his mother’s suicide.

Septuagenarian firebrand Marco Bellocchio turns a critical eye at once sentimental and ironic to Italian men’s relationship to their mothers in Sweet Dreams, an inspired adaptation of a memoir by journalist Massimo Gramellini. Beginning with the dewy-eyed memories of a young Massimo in a halcyon 1960s, the boy dances, nestles and accompanies his mother everywhere, until her early and suspicious death sends him through the decades a man quietly emotionally and psychologically impaired—solitary, withdrawn, uncommitted. Or would he be like that anyway?Bellocchio slyly balances the swooning syrup of a boy’s longing for his mother with a man’s hang-ups in adulthood, his romances and career. After moving into his teenage years, the film jumps to the 1990s when Massimo, by then a sportswriter celebrated for his simple, direct and emotionless writing, encounters a Mephistophelean millionaire whose sudden death, rhyming with that of Massimo’s mother, sends...
