Brazilian-Italian film-maker Murilo Pasta's freshman, full-length feature, "Carmo, Hit the Road," takes us far away from the beautiful, bikini-clad Cariocas of Rio, the suits of Sào Paulo, the close-knit families of Amazonian Indians. His side characters would be applauded by Fellini. One is an old woman with only whites for eyes, another is a horny card player who wants to rape a transvestite, and there's a whole slew of people playing cards forming a pot-pourri of types so different from one another you've got to wonder how they ever got together. The principals are no Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie either: all are folks the Brazilian Tourist Bureau would not be fond of exhibiting to potential customers.
