Frankie Corio
Age: 12
Hometown: Livingston, Scotland
What
In her debut role in Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun, Frankie Corio is Sophie, the pre-teen daughter to Paul Mescal’s Calum. On a Turkish vacation, the emotional ebb and flow of their relationship takes center-stage. As a young, single father, Calum is wracked by a kind of existential pain that includes the loss of his own dreams. Bogged down by his personal demons and unresolved traumas, he is at turns both a loving and distant father. While Sophie struggles to understand her father’s fluctuating moods, her love emerges through the lens of the camera she constantly trains on him.
In the absence of a full script from Wells, the decision to play Sophie as someone who was equal parts self-assured and playfully mischievous was Corio’s idea. “I don’t think she told me much about the character because she wanted me...

Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen, Isaac Klausner, and John Fischer are producing the project with McCarthy’s producing partner Camille Gatin and 30West.
The plot centers around an extended family who, spread throughout the city of Seattle, work together to survive a nuclear attack, facing off against firestorms, doomsday preppers, untold casualties, and a disorganized government response. In the face of this chaos, we watch social constructs break down and subsequently the strength of the human spirit as citizens work together to maintain their civilization and humanity.
McCarthy’s additional directing credits include the Black Mirror episode, “Black Museum,” well as the pilot for the Syfy series, Krypton.

BBC Studios has acquired a minority stake in Moonage Pictures, it announced Wednesday. The start-up, specialising in British scripted drama, was officially launched in March by Matthew Read, Will Gould and Frith Tiplady – all executive producers on hit BBC crime series “Peaky Blinders.”
“We’re super excited to be announcing our partnership with BBC Studios,” said Gould. “They have a really good understanding of how we want to work; we’re an independent company that values creativity above all else, working with the best of the best to make dramas with a global ambition. BBC Studios can help us do this.”
The trio founded Moonage last year, taking inspiration for their new company’s name from David Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream.” Read is a former commissioning editor for BBC Drama as well as a writer and producer. Billy Zane (“Titanic”) is among several new names getting behind the wheel for Sky’s high-octane futuristic drama “Curfew.” Miranda Richardson (“Churchill”), Harriet Walter (“The Crown”), and Michael Biehn (“Aliens”) will also buckle up for the series, which follows a cast of characters competing in the world’s fastest illegal nighttime street race.
“Joining the immensely talented cast and crew of ‘Curfew’ as Joker Jones fulfills many cinematic and literary fantasies all at once,” Zane said. “Playing a gonzo cowboy, member of a viral video performance art troupe, on a healing hell-ride, just about falls square in my wheelhouse right now.”
Richardson will play Lou, a character she described as “kind, tough, brave, practical and romantic.” She added: “A childhood of soaking up Westerns has finally paid off, except that the horses are replaced by cars.”

‘Black Mirror‘ season 4 has been released for just over a couple of weeks, but the latest season of the Netflix anthology series has already been divisive to say the least. In response, Netflix has unleashed 6 featurettes that delve into each of the season’s episodes, along with a special bonus featurette that answers a very important lingering question: do these stories share the same universe?
In the new featurette, series’ creator Charlie Brooker explains how they tried to push the limits of this season by “shooting stories in environments that we haven’t really done before”. If anything, the season did just that, and more. You can watch the first featurette–which features Brooker addressing the shared universe theory–below.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of film critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?”, can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the most overlooked and/or underrated movie of 2017?
E. Oliver Whitney, Screencrush.com, @cinemabite
Despite the critical praise, “A Fantastic Woman” only a one-week qualifying run last month, and I worry is it’ll easily be forgotten this awards season. Daniela Vega gives one of the most astounding performances I’ve seen this year, one that comes from somewhere fierce and internal, portraying the life and struggle of a trans woman that cinema has rarely shown an interest in exploring. But since you can’t see it until it has a proper release in Febraury, do check one of the year’s other...

"There's a sad, sick story behind almost everything here."
Netflix has released a new trailer for Black Mirror Season 4. This one is for the episode called "Black Museum" and it's definitely the craziest looking episode yet!
"Black Museum" stars Catastrophe's Douglas Hodge, Letitia Wright (Humans, Ready Player One) and Babs Olusanmokun (Roots, The Defenders), and it was directed by Colm McCarthy.
In the trailer, we see Wright's character happen upon a little roadside museum run by Hodge's character. He starts to give her a little tour and her curiosity is piqued. As the trailer plays out, we see that very bad, twisted, and torturous things are going to happen. It seems like this one will contain multiple stories. It's like an anthology episode for an anthology series!
We still have no idea when Black Mirror Season 4 will be released, but while we wait for the announcement, enjoy the trailer!

Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us. The series is created and written by Charlie Brooker, and executive produced by Brooker and Annabel Jones.
Black Museum tells the story a lone traveller who stumbles across a tourist-friendly crime museum with a shocking star attraction. This episode, written by Charlie Brooker stars Douglas Hodge, Letitia Wright and Babs Olusanmokun, and has been directed by Colm McCarthy.
The latest series of Black Mirror will be available on Netflix later this year. For more info check out netflix.

“There’s a sad sick story” behind all the objects Rolo Haynes (Douglas Hodge, “The Night Manager,” “Catastrophe”) has on display inside his roadside Black Museum — and in an upcoming installment of the new season of “Black Mirror,” you’ll get told about three of them, with pain, teddy bears, and weird technology featuring heavily into the action.
Similar in approach to the Christmas special “Black Christmas,” the anthology-within-an-anthology “Black Museum” features a cast including Hodge, Letitia Wright (“Ready Player One,” “Black Panther”), Babs Olusanmokun (“Roots,” “The Defenders”), and the newly announced Aldis Hodge, memorable from his work on American TV shows like “Underground” and TNT’s “Leverage.”
The trailer is being released as part of Netflix’s “13 Days of ‘Black Mirror'” series, which means every day until Dec. 6, you can expect new surprises from the upcoming Season 4. So far, we’ve gotten early looks at the mother-daughter drama “Arkangel,...

Steven Moffat chats to us about Doctor Who, the changing face of television, and the internet culture around it...
Ahead of the release of Doctor Who series 10 on DVD and Blu-ray – it lands on Monday, and is available digitally now – outgoing showrunner Steven Moffat did a select few interviews to chat about the show. And he saved one for us.
It was refreshing that, having got lost myself on the way to the interview venue in the depths of London, Moffat himself managed to as well. Apologetic for arriving ten minutes late for our chat, he insisted on adding those minutes to the end of our time, and that’s not something that happens very often with interviews.
With that in mind, we settled down for a long chat about the show, the environment it exists in, and series 10 itself…

We spoke with Peaky Blinders’ writer-creator Steven Knight ahead of the show’s series four return…
Contains spoilers for Peaky Blinders series three.

“Let’s do legends”, says Steven Knight. “In Britain, when the working class are summoned for fiction, it’s ‘isn’t it a shame, isn’t it a pity, isn’t it awful, the terribly poor things…’, whereas from within, it’s nothing like that. It’s fantastic, it’s glamorous, it’s terrible and good the same as it is for everybody.”
Knight didn’t create Peaky Blinders to inspire pity; he created it to inspire awe. Not for the brutality of the Birmingham gang it depicts, but for the “beautiful, dramatic, romantic” stories of his characters’ lives. “Because to the people involved,...

Featuring arguably the most beloved zombie ever put to film, George A. Romero's Day of the Dead is a seminal standout in the horror genre that has grown a diehard fanbase in the thirty-plus years since its release. New takes on Romero's groundbreaking 1985 film were featured in 2005's Day of the Dead 2: Contagium and 2008's Day of the Dead, and now Saban Films has acquired the Us rights to Millennium Media's new Day of the Dead reimagining, with a release expected late this year:
Press Release: Toronto – September 9, 2017 – Saban Films has acquired the U.S. distribution rights to a slate of films from Avi Lerner’s Millennium Media. The trio of titles includes Isaac Florentine’s Acts of Vengeance starring Antonio Banderas, Karl Urban, Robert Forster and Paz Vega; Paul Solet’s Bullet Head (formerly Unchained) also starring Banderas, John Malkovich and Adrien Brody; and Day of the Dead...

Two new photos have been released for the fourth season of Netflix's Black Mirror. The first image teases the Star Trek-inspired episode "USS Callister" and the second on is for the episode titled "Arkangel". This is such an amazing series and I can't wait to see what crazy twisted stories we'll be getting in this next season. To watch the previously released teaser trailer for the series, click here.
Below the photo, you'll find the details that have been released for each of the six episodes that Season 4 will consist of:
“Crocodile,” directed by John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless) and starring Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Bloodline), Andrew Gower (Outlander), Kiran Sonia Sawar (Murdered By My Father).
“Arkangel,” directed by Jodie Foster (Money Monster, The Silence of the Lambs) and starring Rosemarie Dewitt (La La Land, Mad Men), Brenna Harding (A Place to Call Home), Owen Teague (Bloodline).

‘Black Mirror‘ is a show that I absolutely love. In what is the closest thing to a modern day ‘Twilight Zone‘, creator/show runner Charlie Booker‘s hypnotic series has managed to captivate audiences in it’s first three seasons. The show – which was originally aired on BBC – was expanded to a six episode format after Netflix picked up the show for it’s third, and now fourth season, and is highly anticipated to say the least.
Season 3 was backed by some incredible talent, and based on the trailer for season 4, this trend seems to be continuing. In particular, this upcoming season provides a hefty dose of talent in the director’s chair that includes: Jodie Foster, John Hillcoat (The Road, Lawless), David Slade (Hannibal), Colm McCarthy(Peaky Blinders) and Toby Haynes (Dr Who), Tim Van Patten(The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire).
