As TV series gear up to return for a late fall launch, the storylines these shows focus on will be wholly different than planned.
Many series plan to incorporate the novel coronavirus pandemic and how the changes over the past eight months have impacted our favorite, fictional characters' lives.
And while it’s great that the showrunners aren’t blind to the current climate, not every show needs to have such a prominent focus on Covid-19.
It’s not hyperbolic to say that the world is somewhat of a shit show right now, and watching television can serve as an escape from our daily lives.
With so much chaos going on around us, coming home from our harried lives and unwinding with some good, old fashioned TV can be just what the doctor ordered.

As TV shows begin to return to air this fall, showrunners have had to decide whether or not to incorporate the coronavirus pandemic into their future storylines. While some have opted for an escapist path, others have opted to tackle the virus head-on. From video chat-inspired comedies about quarantine to medical dramas facing the biggest medical story in generation, here’s how shows are incorporating Covid-19 into upcoming episodes.
Several series directly addressing the coronavirus pandemic have cropped up in recent months, beginning with Freeform’s “Love in the Time of Corona” back in August. Filmed entirely in quarantine using remote technology and actors in their homes performing opposite their real-life loved ones, the series was one of the first scripted programs to document the early days of lockdown.
Unlike “Love in the Time of Corona,” NBC’s “Connecting…” used a Zoom-inspired format, featuring its characters in small on-screen boxes talking directly to camera.

You can count NCIS: New Orleans among the TV shows that will address the coronavirus pandemic head on, when it returns with new episodes this fall. And landing at the center of the CBS drama’s take on the crisis will, fittingly, be Jefferson Parish coroner Dr. Loretta Wade.
Thinking back to when the pandemic shut down all TV and film productions in mid-March, NCIS: New Orleans cast member Cch Pounder, who plays Loretta, tells TVLine, “We were working, when everybody got called to a central location on set; I thought it was somebody’s birthday, nothing more than that!

The NCIS: New Orleans team is pressing on without Christopher Lasalle (Lucas Black), following his shocking death on NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 Episode 6.
It shocked fans everywhere thanks to the twist not being revealed ahead of transmission, but how are Lasalle's former co-workers holding up in the aftermath?
Not well.
NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 Episode 7, which aired Tuesday on CBS, picked up in the aftermath of the death.
To the surprise of nobody, the team was kept from active duty for a few weeks to cope with the huge loss.
They were told that a return to work was off the cards until they had been cleared to do so by an NCIS psychologist. You know, standard protocol.
Loretta Wade (Cch Pounder) tried to make everyone believe she was fine, but she was annoyed that the team put themselves in such a precarious situation as part of the job.

The second spin-off from NCIS (and technically the third from Jag – which is where the original NCIS series was spun out of), NCIS New Orleans is a very different beast to its predecessors. Whereas the first show was a stoic, patriotic series; and the second was more action and comedy orientated; this third entry in the franchise takes things a more quirky and offbeat direction.
Set in New Orleans the show uses its new location to create a different feel straight away. The fact that Scott Bakula is heading the team as Dwayne Pride adds a certain edge to it. Fans of cult television shows will always know him for Quantum Leap, and he manages to bring attention to the show just from that. To be fair though there is much more to NCIS New Orleans to keep people invested, including another interesting cast choice: Lucas Black, known to fans...

So what is this killer's motivation? Let's once again enjoy our excursion to New Orleans and let the good times roll!
