A new spin on the classic Running Man, Giancarlo Esposito’s newly titled The Show (formerly This is Your Death), penned by Kenny Yakkel and Noah Pink, is an unsettling look at reality TV where a disturbing hit game show has its contestants ending their lives for the public’s enjoyment. It’s on VOD now with a home […]...

As on-the-nose cinematic warnings go, This Is Your Death is like a bright-red clown schnoz. Giancarlo Esposito directs a reality show gone suicidal, but it’s all with positive intent. Writers Noah Pink and Kenny Yakkel mean to affirm life, not death. Society is too obsessed with garbage “reality” shows and social white noise, corrupted by The Bachelor (women pitted like catty gladiators) and warped programming. Success is now monitored by viral appeal. Ex-con models who post slutty pictures 24/7 amass 2.5 million followers, while the youngest college graduate *ever* is known only by a few thousand. Esposito’s response to all this digital rot? Simple: turn it off.
Josh Duhamel stars as television host Adam Rogers, who becomes a national hero after saving one of his Married To A Millionaire contestants during an unexpected murder/suicide finale. Rogers’ network positions him as a hero, but that doesn’t cleanse the blood from his own hands.

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Breaking Glass Pictures. Director: Dana Schroeder. Writers: Michael Todd and Kenny Yakkel. Cast: Lance Henriksen, Amy Hathaway, John Savage, Brian Krause and Dave Vescio. Alien Rising is a sci-fi thriller, from director Dana Schroeder (Lost Soul). Previously titled Gemini Rising, this title was completed in 2013 and it is set to be released in 2015. Alien Rising is very CGI heavy and the film's believability suffers. Whole sets are completely constructed in post-production and the results look very poor. Starring Lance Henriksen and Amy Hathaway, Alien Rising is an indie sci-fi title that is more miss than hit. The story's logline sounds good. Alien research, involving telepathy, takes place in a volcano. But, the film is not as great as its premise. Instead, the film brings in an unneeded female protagonist, who is not really part of the research. She is...

Director: Alex Orwell.
Writer: Kenny Yakkel.
Cast: Texas Battle, Alexandra Staden, Victor McGuire and Adam Rayner.
The reality television based horror film is a difficult genre to pull off. From WatchUsDie.Com (2001) to FeardotCom (2002) and even farther back to the Running Man (1987), there have been a lot of films that try to capitalize on reality shows and their weak messages of the price of fame. The Task, a movie from After Dark Films, begins like a few of the films mentioned above, but Kenny Yakkel's script gains momentum as time ticks down. Overall, the film asks viewers to question what is real and what is not real? These are two questions that allow The Task to provide an interesting, unexpected twist ending.
Six contestants are kidnapped off the streets (of obvious closed sets) to appear on a television show which offers them 24K to stay overnight in a supposed haunted prison.

Remember the remake of House on Haunted Hill and its sequel the truly horrible Return to the House on Haunted Hill? It’s a well worked out structure for a movie and it’ll work again right? That seems to be the concept of The Task.

Congratulating them the makers then proceed lock them in the prison telling them that they will have to all do tasks to escape and be the victor of the show. "ER" alum Abraham Benrubi has been tapped to star as a 1,200-pound man in David Arquette's psychological thriller Glutton. I'm already a bit grossed out. Remember Dreaming Prods. is behind the 3D pic, which was written by Kenny Yakkel. "Benrubi will play Jethro, a bedridden man who is forced to save his sister's life." An interesting plot tease that makes me expect to see a hefty amount of tension in the final product. Benrubi is a veteran film and TV actor who recently had recurring roles on TNT's "Memphis Beat" and ABC's "Men in Trees." Benrubi is represented by Stone Manners Salners Agency and Erik Kritzer at Kritzer, Levine,...

Shock broke the news regarding the plot details surrounding David Arquette's Glutton . Variety has now learned the film will star Abraham Benrubi. He was a regular on ER , he also appeared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and has a regular stint on Robot Chicken . I'm told Benrubi will be wearing at least four different fat suits for the role. In the film, he plays a 1200-pound man who is forced out of his bed to save his sister. He can only do so if he "sheds" his excess weight. Click on the aforementioned link for more details. Arquette is directing the film from a script by Kenny Yakkel.

When most people think of the career of David Arquette, they perceive an often borderline Film/TV career to which he brings a certain nerdy handsome awkwardness, most notably in Eight Legged Freaks and Scream. More usually, however, they will associate him with Courteney Cox- to whom he is still married despite separation last year- and a bizarre infrequent stints as a “pro” wrestler for the WCW, where his ill-judged title reign is often seen as one of the key to that company’s demise.
What fewer will know is that he has a not inconsiderable series of directorial credits to his name and is now about to film his first ever 3D feature film, titled Glutton.
Arquette’s previous directorial credits include several episodes of CSI Miami and Medium, as well as a co-written sole feature film called The Tripper; a slightly trashy horror oddity in which a...

The movie trailer for the upcoming horror film from After Dark Originals called "The Task" has been released and we have it for you to view below. You can see it below the creepy international one-sheet poster and synopsis below below.
Not sure what I think about the flick so far, but I'm hoping it is better than the trailer suggests. Not a terrible concept, but one that feels a bit over done to me. I mean, didn't we kind of see this idea in one of the Halloween sequels? Maybe I'm just burnt out on all things "reality show".
The Task was written by Kenny Yakkel, directed by Simon Fellows (Malice in Wonderland, Blessed) and stars Texas Battle (Dixon), Alexandra Staden (Connie), Adam Raynor (Taylor). Enjoy.

Matt Damon's dreams of playing real-life alien expert Bob Lazar are back on - a new biopic about the scientist has been greenlighted.
Damon was reportedly onboard to play Lazar four years ago when movie executives at New Line were hoping to turn his life story and his recollections of working at S4, a secret military base located at Papoose Lake in Nevada, into a movie, but film plans stalled.
Now Curmudgeon Films - the company behind Cameron Diaz's movie My Sister's Keeper - has taken over the project and Kenneth Yakkel is adapting TV interviews Lazar conducted with Las Vegas reporter George Knapp for the movie.
A spokesman for the project says, "2009 marks the 20th anniversary of Lazar's amazing account of back engineering one of nine alien flying saucers recovered by the U.S. military.
"Threats on his (Lazar) life forced him to go public with the story. The film is based on his amazing eyewitness accounts of working at S4.
"Matt Damon would be at the top of our list to play Lazar. I had heard he was interested in it years ago when New Line was going to do the Lazar story."...

Curmudgeon Films has acquired screen rights to the story of Bob Lazar, who claims to have worked at S4, a secret military base near Area 51, where he examined alien spacecraft recovered by the U.S. military.
Lazar left the project in 1989 and recounted his story to Las Vegas reporter George Knapp.
A screenplay tentatively titled "S4: The Incredible True Story of Bob Lazar," is being written by Kenneth Yakkel for Curmudgeon and producer Stephen Furst, who most recently was one of the producers of "My Sister's Keeper."
Lazar's story has interested other producers over the years. Put into turnaround in 1993 by Guber-Peters Prods., it was picked up by New Line, which subsequently let its option lapse.

It took two years but the indie "zombie" film Dead Air ( set visit ), we've been informed, is officially done. Corbin Bernsen began directing the film, based on a script by Ken Yakkel, in early 2007 for Antibody Films. Halfway through principal photography, Bernsen put production on hold to fulfill his duties on the television show Psych , hence the delay. Now Dead Air is out seeking a distributor and we've got your first look at the new teaser poster below. Starring Bill Moseley, Patricia Tallman, Joshua Feinman and David Moscow, the story revolves around a talk radio team attempting to warn its listeners after a huge explosion turns zombies on the loose in Los Angeles.
